Suggested January 2024 3 Awesome Viral Projects Based On Google Suggest
I have always admired people’s ingenuity and creativity. A new tool barely has time to get its foot in the door before hundreds of mashups, info-graphics, and follow-on tools pop up. Remember when Twitter started catching on? Tons of amazing projects suddenly appeared including Twitter translators, Twitter calendars, Twitter viral projects (like, for example, HistoricalTweets). There were so many of them that it kept amazing me how people managed to continually create newer and more innovative solutions.
Witnessing that madness gives one a great deal of food for thought. To me the whole process is incredibly educational and inspirational. As online marketers, we need to learn to create successful link bait and viral content and the best way to accomplish that is to learn by example.
This post shares three simply genius (actually simple and genius) examples of link bait based on the Google Suggest feature:
Google Suggest Venn Diagram (tool)A Venn diagram is a graphic visualizing the relationships between the sets of data with help of overlapping circles. Rory McCann created a Google Suggest Venn Diagram Generator that works like this:
Brainstorm a question or a phrase (with X as the placeholder for your terms);
Provide three terms to go in your phrase;
Let the tool generate three sets of Google Suggest results (based on your settings above);
If any results overlap, you’ll see it in a Venn diagram.
Don’t be fooled by the minimalist look: the tool is pretty much addictive!
Why are Russians, French people and Irish people so…
The tool was created based on this tweet challenge and got quite a lot of coverage:
Google Suggest Venn Diagrams (at Google System)
Visualize Google Searches Using Google Suggest Venn Diagram Generator (at Google Tutor)
Hot at Ycombinator
Hilarious Google Suggest Venn Diagrams (at Huffington Post)
Much more!
Lesson learned: Take action the moment you feel inspired. Fresh ideas come first. If the concept is great, appearances will take a backseat!
Google Suggest USA Map (infographic)This tool was even easier to create. All it took was for someone to sit down, type the names of the American states in the Google Search box, save the top suggestion for each, and place them on a map. Easy and fun! How in the world did just one person decide to follow these steps and then receive sensational coverage by doing so?!
This person actually did it and had almost instant success!
Note: Yes, you may have some issues with the infographic as the suggestions can be personalized (so you might see something different for some of the states, but who cares when the idea is fun?!)
Coverage:
Lesson learned: Use a new or popular tool with a universally familiar concept, create a visual. Often the recipe for a successful link bait is as simple as that!
3. Google Suggest Mind Maps (tool)While the above two tools were rather fun than useful, the third actually has a lot of possible applications behind it.
“What Do You Suggest?” turns Google Suggest results in a mind map. It is very easy to use but provides plenty of room for brainstorming and getting inspired. I imagine it is quite easy to implement and makes a perfect example of simple but awesome link bait:
What I also love about the tool is its location-based feature that lets you compare Google Suggest results in different regions:
light green will mark your selected primary region
light pink will mark your selected secondary region
gray will mark those phrases which were returned in both the selected regions:
Coverage:
Lesson learned: Sometimes the best solution is to let people get behind your lens. Represent the data as you see it and let others discover your perspective. Great tools always have solid ideas behind them.

How To Automatically Change Your Apple Watch Face Based On Time Or Location
Automations can be wonderful. You can make things happen with a one-time action and have them repeat. And with the Shortcuts app on iPhone you can set up personal automations for your Apple Watch.
One such automation you may find handy is changing your Watch face based on time of day, location, or action. For instance, you might like a certain face in the morning as your day is starting and a different one as your evening begins. As another example, you might prefer a particular face for when you head to the office and another when you arrive home.
Here, we’ll show you how to automatically change your Apple Watch face for situations like these.
Change your Apple Watch face based on timeLet’s start with a Watch face that changes based on the time of day. And we’d like to thank Jake Behrens and his Twitter post for the idea!
1) Open Shortcuts on your iPhone and tap Automation at the bottom.
2) Tap the plus sign at the top to add one and choose Create Personal Automation.
3) Pick Time of Day at the top of the New Automation screen.
4) Select Sunrise, Sunset, or a custom Time of Day. Optionally, set the automation to repeat Daily, Weekly, or Monthly if you like.
5) Tap Next and then tap Add Action.
6) You can scroll through the Suggestions here, but it’s easier to pop the word “Watch” into the Search at the top. This should display Watch at the very top under Apps, so tap it.
7) On the list of Watch actions, select Set Watch Face.
8) On the Actions screen, tap “Face” in blue. Choose the face you want to use for the time you selected.
Tip: If you’re doing this just for fun, you can pick the option at the bottom for Ask Each Time and select one by mood or activity when prompted.
9) Now you’ll be back on the Actions screen and should see the face you selected in the action. Tap Next.
10) On the following screen, you’ll likely want to turn off the toggle for Ask Before Running. If you leave this enabled, you’ll be prompted each time the automation runs which is really unnecessary. If you disable the toggle, confirm by tapping Don’t Ask.
11) Tap Done.
This completes the setup process for the automation and you’ll be directed to the main Automation screen where you should see the one you just created.
Follow the same steps to set up the Watch face changes for the additional times of day.
Change your Watch face automatically by locationNext, we’ll show you how to set up an automation to change your Watch face based on location. This is pretty much the same process except you’re choosing a location instead of a time.
1) Follow Steps 1 and 2 above and pick Arrive or Leave at the top of the New Automation screen, depending on when you want the face to change.
2) Tap Choose to pick the location and then tap Done. You can optionally select a Time Range for changing locations or simply set it to Any Time.
3) Tap Next and then tap Add Action.
4) Follow the remaining Steps 6 through 11 above to add the action for your Watch, select the face, and finish the automation setup.
Other handy Watch face actionsNow that you see the basics for automatically changing your Apple Watch face based on time or location, you might try some other actions.
Once you start setting up the automation, review the available actions. You can change the face based on before you commute, when Airplane Mode is turned on, when your Watch reaches a certain battery level, and more.
Apple Ahead Of The Game As It Tackles Discrimination Based On India’s Caste System
A report today says that Apple is ahead of most large companies in tackling a form of discrimination which originates in India but has affected employee recruitment in Silicon Valley: the caste system.
Although the caste system is in part reflected in attitudes to skin color, discrimination on the basis of caste is not made explicitly illegal by current US law …
The caste systemWhile we’d normally open a piece like this with a succinct definition, that is virtually impossible in this case.
India’s caste system dates back to around 1500 BCE, and academics have had lengthy and unresolved arguments as to its exact origins and classifications. Indeed, in 1932 GS Ghurye – widely considered a founding figure in Indian sociology – said that caste was too complex to define.
We do not possess a real general definition of caste. It appears to me that any attempt at definition is bound to fail because of the complexity of the phenomenon.
However, there are at least connections between caste and skin tone.
Although in theory a dalits colour is not associated with caste, it can be said that due to the types of labour dalits are usually found working in, they are often identified as darker as or “dirtier” than those of different castes because they are more frequently exposed to the sun. In a country obsessed with light skin tone, it is often suggested that the caste system has affected the ways in which Indians view darker skin, with a stigma of dark skin attached to the lower castes.
Apple explicitly bans discrimination by casteToday, India is said to be the top source of skilled foreign workers in the US tech sector, and a Reuters report says that Apple got ahead of its rivals by implementing a specific policy on caste.
America’s tech giants are taking a modern-day crash course in India’s ancient caste system, with Apple emerging as an early leader in policies to rid Silicon Valley of a rigid hierarchy that’s segregated Indians for generations.
Apple, the world’s biggest listed company, updated its general employee conduct policy about two years ago to explicitly prohibit discrimination on the basis of caste, which it added alongside existing categories such as race, religion, gender, age and ancestry.
The inclusion of the new category, which hasn’t been previously reported, goes beyond U.S. discrimination laws, which do not explicitly ban casteism.
Apple reportedly introduced the policy after a claim of caste-based discrimination at Cisco.
California’s employment regulator sued Cisco Systems on behalf of a low-caste engineer who accused two higher-caste bosses of blocking his career.
Cisco denied that there was evidence of discrimination, but also argued that there was no case to answer as caste is not a legally protected class in California. Essentially the company was saying that it would have the legal right to discriminate on the basis of caste should it so desire; that case is still awaiting a court hearing.
While many tech companies are said to be unsure of how to address the issue, Apple tackled it head-on.
Apple’s main internal policy on workplace conduct, which was seen by Reuters, added reference to caste in the equal employment opportunity and anti-harassment sections after September 2023.
Apple confirmed that it “updated language a couple of years ago to reinforce that we prohibit discrimination or harassment based on caste.” It added that training provided to staff also explicitly mentions caste.
“Our teams assess our policies, training, processes and resources on an ongoing basis to ensure that they are comprehensive,” it said. “We have a diverse and global team, and are proud that our policies and actions reflect that.”
IBM does the same, but policies reviewed by Reuters showed that many tech giants don’t specifically prohibit caste-based discrimination outside of India (where it is illegal), including Amazon, Dell, Facebook, Google, and Microsoft. All said that this would fall under their existing discrimination bans.

Viral Marketing: What Is It And How It Works
Introduction: What is Viral Marketing?
It might be a brief message on your smartphone about a freshly released product, a news item (such as India winning the world cup), or a YouTube video that people share with other users.
Examples Hotmail ALS Ice Bucket ChallengeThe ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is another illustration of how versatile viral marketing can be. The ice bucket challenge already existed before The ALS Association used it to increase donations and awareness. However, the widespread posting of ALS Ice Bucket films on social media generated a global sensation that significantly raised awareness of the disease.
Types of Viral Marketing Puzzles and RiddlesThe most popular type of internet information sharing is blog postings. Even though some of it has the potential to go viral, the outcomes of other online content, such as quizzes and riddles, are as important to consider. Until you can solve it, it appears to be taunting you. These puzzles and riddles are more likely to be found on messaging apps like WhatsApp.
InfographicsThey can be used to entertain, engage, and educate the audience because they are brief, clear, and attention-grabbing. Infographics are a fantastic tool for obtaining high-quality backlinks. If you want to appeal to the eye, this format is excellent.
Motivational ContentEveryone needs something to motivate them to get up every morning, go to work, and work to improve every day in today’s fast-paced world. As a result, motivating posts are among the most prevalent types of material on YouTube, Reddit, Instagram, Facebook, and other social networking sites. They discuss positive behaviours, famous and wealthy people’s statements, proverbs, and other things that make the audience feel good.
People will relate to and desire to share content with others if it has a strong message that is motivating.
Personality Quizzes‘Which Game of Thrones character are you?’ quizzes are likely to be taken by most of us.
These tests are being used as a kind of content marketing strategy. They draw a sizable crowd and serve a certain demographic. For instance, a questionnaire geared toward mothers would ask, “Which Celebrity mom are you like?”
Keep one thing in mind before you start to become enthusiastic. For your audience to believe the quiz results, they must be relevant and logical.
ListsJust count how many times you see titles like “X Useful ideas for…” or “Y Hacks to make your life easy” as you navigate through your Facebook feed or YouTube recommended list.
Marketing professionals know that articles and videos with titles that begin with a number received more likes, views, and shares than their equivalents.
Case StudiesReaders like case studies because they are packed with data supported by research. People enjoy watching ideas and concepts in motion and are very interested in the outcomes.
How-To GuidesThe majority of “how to” content adopts a problem-solution methodology. In fact, you’ll see that many search queries individuals enter when browsing the internet start with the word “how to.”
As a result, such information has a higher likelihood of turning up in Google search results. By doing this, you increase your organic search traffic.
Top PostsTop postings frequently have the potential to become viral and can be a strong source of traffic. The top 15 recipes to amaze your visitors may have been in stories you have read. The word “top” in these names could mean “the best,” “most popular,” or “those with the best results.”
Long-form ContentAccording to Google, a piece of writing must be at least 1500 words long to rank highly in search results. It appears that your target audience wants in-depth, thoroughly researched articles. Long-form content still receives more shares despite a rise in short-form material due to short attention spans and increased mobile content consumption. The rationale for this is that your readers will consider a lengthy, well-researched piece as a reliable source of information.
Steps To Create A Successful Viral Marketing CampaignWhile part of that may seem frightening, you should be relieved to know that there are viral marketing strategies available, and companies like the Harmon Brothers producing hit after hit offers us hope that we can also master the process.
The following are some essential considerations when creating your campaign.
Understand your target audience − This is marketing 101, but for a piece of content to become viral, it needs to be seen by the appropriate people. It all comes down to producing content that appeals to and emotionally connects with your audience.
Facilitate sharing − You shouldn’t merely provide content and hope that others will share it. Instead, take the initiative and incorporate sharing your content into your marketing. A referral scheme or the addition of share buttons to your blog article ar two examples of simple solutions.
Be aware of your objectives and keep them top-of-mind − Why are you launching this campaign or attempting to become viral? Is it to broaden your audience, raise awareness for a cause, improve your SEO, or perhaps it’s to publicise a specific occasion? As soon as someone notices you are paying attention, you may begin evaluating and streamlining each phase of the procedure.
Keep your message concise − A key component of any marketing strategy is straightforward, easily digestible material. Before you lose your audience’s interest, your content should be concise and to the point. You only have a few seconds to make an impression, so keep that in mind.
Pieces of viral material are uncommon − The unicorns of marketing, they are. They do, however, all have traits in common that raise their chances of being popular online. Let’s examine some of my favourite instances in greater detail and draw attention to the underlying marketing approach that contributed to their success.
ConclusionKeep in mind that original, never-before-seen material is essential when establishing a viral marketing campaign. It ought to be captivating enough to draw in your viewers. They ought to be able to connect with the viral marketing’s central idea. You may plan the optimal moment to publish your material that will go viral and do so to quickly reach your target market.
Timeline: A Python Based Timeline Creator For Linux
TimeLine is a free, cross-platform timeline-creator application, written in Python, that runs natively on Linux, Mac OS X and even Windows. It will allow anyone to effortlessly create custom timelines, for any purpose they like, with many useful features like grouping of events, custom visual representation and more.
Timelines might have many uses from educational purposes, through data representation to event planning. Whatever your usage, TimeLine is a great alternative to commercially available software or any web-based online tools.
InstallationTimeLine has few dependencies. You will need Python 2.5 or greater (which should be available on most systems) and wxPython 2.8.9.2. Just to be on the safe side, check what version of Python you have installed.
python-V
If the output shows 2.5 or greater, there is nothing else you need to do about it. If you see a lesser version, try updating your system. This should be as easy as
sudo
apt-get update
sudo
apt-get upgrade
on Debian (and Ubuntu) derivative distros.
To check what version of wxPython you have available on your system, search for the python-wxgtk package:
apt-cache search
python-wxgtkYour output will be something like this. The number after the package name will be your version number:
On Debian 8 this should return version 3.0, while on Ubuntu 14.04 you will see version 2.8.
If it says 2.8, you should verify the minor version, as you will need 2.8.9.2. Check the details with
apt-cache show
python-wxgtk2.8and search for the line where it says Version: 2.8.XX.
In this case it is 2.8.12, so we are ready to go.
sudo
apt-get install
python-wxgtk2.8Download TimeLine from sourceforge. The latest version at the time of writing was 1.6.0.
unzip
chúng tôi-d
$HOME
You can now start TimeLine with:
python$HOME
/
timeline-1.6.0/
source/
timeline.pyYou can also make a desktop icon or launcher that points to this command (The process would slightly differ depending on your system, DE and/or tools available).
Main featuresTimeLine has a simple user interface that is easy to navigate.
If you follow the link for the “Getting started tutorial,” you will be presented with an example timeline. The events shown will explain TimeLine’s best use as you interact with them.
and navigate timelines
shows its real power. Still, the preferences window offers surprisingly little to tweak,
but if you are not afraid to get your hands dirty, editing the $HOME/timelineproj.cfg will allow for complete configuration of TimeLine, including easily adding keyborad shortcuts.
Creating timelinesWhen you start a new project, you can choose to create File, Numeric or Directory timelines, considerably extending the possible use-cases of the software.
Your categories will then be displayed on the left pane.
Events will display according to their starting and ending time and in relation to other events that may overlap in the colors specified by their categories.
Hovering over an event will show its description in a pop-up balloon which can also be pinned to stay open.
If you create a directory timeline, the files in that directory will be displayed in order of date created/modified and categorized by folder structure,
although this seems to have some limitations.
ConclusionTimeLine is a powerful application that can help you organize and represent information in a timeline format. Besides its few flaws, TimeLine’s main functionality, that is creating and displaying custom text-based timelines, works flawlessly. If you need a lightweight easy and straightforward timeline creator application for Linux, you need not look any further.

Wavefun Micro Mini Earbud Review: Tiny, Yet Awesome
Wavefun Micro Mini Earbud: basic package
WAVEFUN Micro Mini Bluetooth Earpiece
Magnetic USB Charging Dock
White Color Gift Box
S/M/L Black Ear Tips
English User Manual
It’s really easy to activate and connect your phone to the Wavefun Micro Mini Earbud the first time you receive its package. Just turn it on by pressing continuously the first (protruding) button until the notification LED in the middle pulses in red-blue color – indicating that it’s waiting to pair with your smartphone.
Go to the Bluetooth Settings of your device, locate the WAVEFUN Micro device and select it. That’s all, pairing complete 🙂
Wavefun Micro Mini Earbud: main featuresIn fact I did manage to misplace it for a couple of days, but I finally remembered that I had placed it inside my trouser’s pocket once. And thankfully my wife hadn’t put it yet in the washing machine.
COMFORT & SECURE FIT IN EITHER EAR: It’s ergonomically-designed and in its basic package you will find 3 different sized ear plugs, that ensure a great snug and secure fit in your ear, no matter which one you prefer: left or right.
It fits exceptionally in the ear. It doesn’t move at all, and you can easily use it while running, walking, cycling or whatever you do that needs excessive body movement. Trust me, as long as you choose the right ear plug, you won’t have any issue with its fit in your ear.
Very good SOUND quality: It’s excellent for everyday phone calls, with impressive maximum volume, enabling you to use it even in crowded areas, or while you’re in a busy street, or in a room full of people talking. The caller will NOT complain about the clarity of your voice, but you won’t complain either about the volume of each phone call.
It’s louder than other budget Bluetooth earbuds that are available in the market, providing a decent communication experience for the average user.
Gizchina News of the weekNote also that it has voice notifications like «Power On/Power Off, Phone Connected, Phone Disconnected etc).
You’re gonna love its MAGNETIC USB CHARGER: It’s really easy to charge it using it, just by connecting it to any available USB port: on your PC, laptop, on a power outlet with an adaptor, directly from a power bank etc.
You only have to place the Earbud close to the hole of its charger and instantly the magnets there will attract it with significant strength, making sure it doesn’t slip. A red indicator light shines when it’s charging and it goes off when charging is complete 😉 It’s that simple.
It takes approximately 1 hour to fully charge it, enabling you to talk for almost 5 hours straight before it needs to be recharged. Alternatively you can keep it in stand by mode for several days (80 hours or so), depending the use of course.
DUAL BUTTONS, for easy Siri/Google Assistant support: Given its REALLY small size, one would think that there would be no space for extra buttons etc. Fortunately this is NOT the case here, as the Wavefun Micro Mini Earbud comes with two buttons: one for the typical answer/end and play /Pause functions and a second to reduce volume and skip songs.
It’s also compatible with most Smartphone Assistants such as Siri (iOS), Google Assistant (Generic Android), Bixby (Samsung) etc. You can easily activate it by holding the main button for 2 seconds.
Just make sure you always know where you put it, and that you don’t misplace it (like I did). I know there are several other similar gadgets out there (at the same price range) but all I can say for this specific is that it SURELY is worth its money.
I enjoyed its battery life, but I used it only for phone calls, not music playback. This means that it was on stand by most of the time, waiting to be activated in case a phone call came through. If you’re in the market for a Bluetooth 4.1 enabled Earbud then don’t miss the opportunity to take a close look on this little gem. You might be surprised 😉
