Suggested April 2024 Asmr Videos Are Just Beginning To Whisper Their Anti
You may know “ASMR” as the niche genre of YouTube video which people watch on tablets and laptops to help them relax, perhaps before bed or in the lull of a Sunday afternoon. These videos typically involve someone role-playing a mundane professional service, such as giving you a haircut, a massage, or booking you in for a doctors’ appointment.
The role-plays are usually performed in whispered voices, with the “ASMRtist” (the term for the creators of these videos) focused on building a feeling of intimacy and emphasising any crisp sounds or slow hand movements. But what exactly is ASMR, and why do people watch these videos?
A sensation of being paid close attention to is a key theme of ASMR experiences. Shutterstock
If you don’t experience it then it can be hard to describe, although it’s not too dissimilar to goosebumps or the “chills” you may get when listening to an epic piece of music or inspirational speech, or when gazing on an awe-inspiring scene.
It often stems from incidental triggers in everyday life. I used to experience it is as a child when having my feet measured by a shoe shop assistant. This is a good example of a scenario that contains multiple common ASMR triggers: a gentle, soft-spoken voice, precise and expert hand movements, and a sensation of being paid close attention to, but in a somewhat objectifying and professional manner. ASMR videos exaggerate and combine these triggers to attempt to induce ASMR in viewers.
ASMR can feel similar to the sensation of goosebumps, starting in the head and moving down the body. Shutterstock
It’s worth noting that ASMR videos are not actually that “niche” – some of the most popular ASMRtists have over one million subscribers, and some of their most-watched videos have over 20 million views. However, the prevalence of ASMR is difficult to estimate.
Surveys asking whether people experience ASMR disproportionally attract the attention of those who do experience it and seek out information on it. Other people may experience it but be unfamiliar with the terminology, and know it as “brain tingles” or “head tingles”.
The phrase “brain orgasm” has also been used, and ASMR videos have been described as “whisper porn”, although these terms are misleading. Despite the intimate nature of ASMR videos, the sensation itself is distinctly non-sexual and is pleasurable in the same way as a blissful meditative state might be.
Many ASMR videos have more in common with instructional videos or craft-making demonstrations. Indeed, the Bob Ross painting series, The Joy of Painting, from the 1980s is an unintentional ASMR classic. What does ASMR do to your brain?
The popularity of ASMR videos may be due to their potential health benefits. Aside from being a pleasant sensation, many people who watch ASMR videos say it helps reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety and insomnia. The thriving ASMR reddit contains testimonies of people who are thrilled that they can consistently trigger the sensation and its associated benefits by watching ASMR videos when they feel stressed.
Our recent research suggests that these claims are plausible. In a controlled experiment, in which people who experience ASMR watched these videos, they reported feeling much calmer and their heart rates slowed.
The effect was comparable to that found in mindfulness exercises which psychologists recommend, such as interventions in which patients are encouraged to accept emotions rather than suppress them. Survey research suggests that the most common motivation for watching ASMR videos is for the mental health benefit of aiding sleep and reducing stress.
However, one of the obstacles to ASMR as a therapeutic tool is the differing extent to which people experience ASMR. Some people do not experience it at all, and others may only experience it in response to certain triggers, or in certain situations. More research is needed to find out under which conditions ASMR is strongest and most reliable.
At the moment, there is a lack of scientific research explaining the origins of ASMR, although there have been interesting suggestions for possible avenues to explore. Could ASMR be something like the opposite of misophonia, a condition that makes people experience negative reactions to lip smacking, eating, or slurping sounds?
Alternatively, feeling a tingling sensation from triggering ASMR sounds could be related to synaesthesia—the ability of some people to experience stimuli in multiple ways, such as associating certain sounds with visual color.
Despite the popularity of ASMR, the scientific community is only just beginning to recognise it as a worthy phenomenon to study. There is much that we don’t know about ASMR, but our early findings suggest it could be an effective tool for people who experience it to reduce stress in the digital age.

Biometric authentication systems like Windows Hello, Fingerprint scanner, etc., are being promoted in Windows 10. These biometric systems help you quickly and securely log in to your system and perform various activities. Obviously, this eliminates the need for creating and remembering complex passwords. As good as it is, under some circumstances, these biometric systems can be a victim of spoofing compromising your security. To eliminate this, Windows 10 included a new feature called Enhanced Anti-Spoofing that acts as a countermeasure for any unauthorized access via spoofing. This article discusses how to enable it.
Note: when enabled, this new feature will only work with devices that support anti-spoofing technology. If your device doesn’t support anti-spoofing, then enabling it does nothing.Enable Enhanced Anti-Spoofing Using the Registry
To enable the enhanced anti-spoofing feature, add a new registry value. To do that, press “Win + R,” type regedit and press the Enter button.
The above action will open the Windows Registry Editor. Here, navigate to the following key:
Name the newly created key “FacialFeatures” and press the Enter button to save the name.
This action will create a new DWORD value. Rename the newly-created value “EnhancedAntiSpoofing.” This is how it looks once you rename it.
If you ever want to disable the enhanced anti-spoofing, simply change the value data back to “0.”Enable Enhanced Anti-Spoofing Using Group Policy
If you are using the Pro or Enterprise version of Windows, you can do the same thing using the Group Policy Editor. There is no need to mess with Windows Registry. To start, press “Win + R,” type gpedit.msc and press the Enter button.
If you ever want to revert back, simply select the “Disabled” radio button or “Not Configured.”

The notice on the front “Whisper as your lover” sounds funny though.DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION AND ERGONOMICS
If you expected a covered or somehow protected cable cord, you will be disappointed. The cable looks quite normal, but I’ve read somewhere that at least it’s made out of environment friendly materials. The end with the jack is gilded and has the usual straight orientation, I would rather see the “L” shaped connector, so the cable won’t be under so much stress. The metal module is also soundproof and so is the cylinder with the button. The body of the headphones is fully plastic and so is the button itself and the slider. The cable, being round, does not suffer from the microphone effect, which is good for the everyday use. I don’t have any real objections to the build, just to the materials used and generally to the cheaper look.
Ergonomics and comfiness are very important things for the headphones. The less important issue is for example the button for answering a call/switching music which should be much bigger, because I had a hard time finding it. By the button is located the microphone for the calling purposes. Then there is the noise-cancellation module which is located at the “Y” connection. It is flat and weighs only 17 grams. Of course you can feel, while wearing them, that the headphones are at one point slightly heavier and sometimes they have a tendency to get stuck, nevertheless thanks to the weight and dimensions it did not bother me at all. The module itself has a small slider for turning on and off the noise-cancellation and a small LED for displaying the status: blue indicates being “on”, red then “dead battery” and “charging”.
Charging is via either the provided USB reduction or by one of the supported phones. For the time being there are just a few models supported, certain Huawei and Honor phones.SPECIFICATIONS
I will write more about the active noise-cacellation module in the next paragraph, nevertheless the specification table states that it can filter out up to 32 dB, accumulator has 25 mAh capacity and hourly consumption is 0,96 mAh/hour. These are the only specification numbers available.SOUND AND ACTIVE NOISE-CANCELLATION Gizchina News of the week

All things considered they are no Hi-Fiquality, even though they promise to be. It’s yet another member to the family of headphones with unbalanced sound approaching the modern style. But don’t get me wrong, certain qualities and perks are there and they don´t play like $10 headphones but more like for $40 ones, let’s say similar to A-Jays One or perhaps A-Jays Two which is not so bad. The “softer” sound with the stronger bass is quite good for the longer listening sessions, your ears don´t get tired so quickly. It’s more like riding on the wave.
If I would put them on at home to filter out a crying baby or some noisy housework it wouldn’t do much. But in situations like riding the subway, tram or the bus it is quite different. Active noise-cancellation can quite effectively filter out sounds of the crowd or low humming noise in the subway. On the bus you can hear just the hissing turbo and screaming transmission. And when you are listening to some music, you can’t hear anything disruptive from the outside and the noisier the place is, the more intense the filtering becomes. The only thing you need to do is turning it on and you will be amazed how much work can ELE Whisper do. Listening to music in the subway feels suddenly almost the same like at home, but again the highs and mids will get more suppressed than the almost “turned-off” low tones .
I know that some of you might think that sending the reverse sound phase back to the headphones has to harm the original sound somehow. The truth is that you will be able to hear tiny buzz and the headphones will slightly change the sound style . They will get louder for roughly one step on the volume scale of the phone and gains more dynamics, but the difference is not that big. The buzz will fade away in the music and especially in noisy place one even doesn’t have a chance to notice it.
Believe it or not, listening to music without any noise from the outside is quite addictive. Even though ELE Whisper doesn’t come close to my personal Audio Technica WS55 (I know I can’t compare, but still…), I became really fond of them because the noise-cancellation is really comfortable and handy.CONCLUSION
Headphones are on sale in here. We would like to thank the Elephone company for providing the ELE Whisper review sample for us, cheers !

A new report from The Guardian has claimed that the anonymous social network Whisper isn’t as anonymous as it claims, saying that it tracks the locations of its users, including those who have specifically opted out of geolocation tracking. It also shares user information with the US Department of Defense.
The Guardian says it witnessed the practice during a three-day visit to Whisper headquarters as part of their efforts to start a journalistic relationship with the company. What is Whisper
For those who are not in the know, Whisper is an application that lets you share your deepest secrets, desires, or confessions with others without revealing your identity, or so it claims. The app, which is available for both Android and iOS, gets more than 3 billion page views a month and has millions of users – 70 percent female, mostly aged 18 to 24.
The way Whisper works is you write a message (could be a confession, question, feeling … anything) and the app suggests a relevant image over which the message is superimposed. Following this you can post the message, known as a whisper. Those who find your message interesting can either send you open replies or chat with you in private. The point here is that people talking to you don’t know anything about you and you do not know anything about them, allowing you to speak your mind and heart anonymously.
As you can see in the screenshot displayed below, the app categorizes whispers into three categories: Popular, Nearby, and Latest. There’s also a big + icon at the bottom centre which you can tap to create a whisper.
As you can see in the screenshot below, someone with the handle ‘Stoned_Smith’ answered my question in detail (my replies are in purple):
Not everyone was polite enough; I received some quite nasty replies too, which is understandable, as the app is bound to attract all kinds of people, thanks to the anonymity it claims to provide. What the report claims
The Guardian report claims that Whisper has developed an in-house mapping tool that enables its staff to filter and search GPS data and even pinpoints messages to within 500 meters of where they were sent. The news site also claims that the app is capable of tracking an individual user’s movements over time and even extracts their rough location from IP data emitted by their devices, something which is done on a targeted, case-by-case basis.
The Guardian also says that the company is cooperating with the US Department of Defense, sharing user data with researchers investigating the frequency of mentions of suicide (or self-harm) from hand-held devices like smartphones that Whisper knows are being used from US military bases. What Whisper has to say
Whisper has refuted the allegations, saying that there’s no truth in the article.
Whisper does not collect nor store any personally identifiable information from users and is anonymous. There is nothing in our geolocation data that can be tied to an individual user and a user’s anonymity is never compromised. Whisper does not follow or track users. The Guardian’s assumptions that Whisper is gathering information about users and violating user’s privacy are false.
The company said the above in a statement to TechCrunch, adding that The Guardian has made a mistake by publishing the story and they will regret it.What do we think
Considering the fact that the allegations are made by a reputed publication like The Guardian, it’s a bit hard to believe Whisper’s claims that they are complete lies. Although nothing is proven yet, if the publication’s allegations are true, it only proves that users shouldn’t blindly believe the anonymity claims made by these kind of apps, and should think twice before sharing information about their personal or professional lives.

Do you want to take screenshots of YouTube videos on your PC, Mac, Android, or iPhone? We’ll walk you through several methods to help you do that.
There are lots of instances that warrant taking screenshots of YouTube videos. For example, you may want to capture that perfect moment from a trending video for social media, save stunning scenery to use as your computer’s wallpaper, save complex instructions and diagrams in image format offline, and so on.
Table of Contents
YouTube does not provide a built-in method that allows its viewers to take screenshots. Instead, here are several alternative ways to screenshot YouTube videos on desktop and mobile devices.1. Use a YouTube Screenshot Extension Google Chrome & Microsoft Edge
In Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, you can easily capture screenshots of YouTube videos with the aptly named Screenshot YouTube extension. There are other similar browser add-ons, but it’s the most popular with the highest ratings and the one that works the best.
Don’t worry—Screenshot YouTube will not capture the playback controls, surrounding gradients, or black bars (unless the video isn’t in the 16:9 aspect ratio). The extension also copies the screen to your computer’s clipboard, meaning you can immediately paste it elsewhere.
You can also customize how the Screenshot YouTube extension works. Select the Screenshot YouTube icon on the Extensions menu (top-right corner of the browser windows), choose Options/Extension Options, and then:
Check the box next to
P key as a keyboard shortcut to take screenshots
if you want to capture screenshots with the
Image format to use
. If file size matters, JPG is the lighter of the two.
Save to file
Copy to clipboard
if you only want the extension to save screenshots
copy them to the clipboard—not both.Mozilla Firefox
Do you use Mozilla Firefox to watch YouTube? Install the YouTube Screenshot Button extension via the Firefox Browser Add-Ons store, and you should be all set.
Start playing a YouTube video and select the Screenshot button at the bottom of the video pane to take an instant screenshot of what you’re seeing. Increase the video quality and enter full-screen mode for a better-looking screenshot.
The YouTube Screenshot Button add-on lets you switch between the PNG and JPG formats for saved screenshots. Open the Firefox menu and select Add-ons and themes. Then, select the More (three dots) icon next to YouTube Screenshot, select Options/Preferences, and set Screenshot format to PNG or JPEG.Other Web Browsers for PC and Mac
If you’re using an alternative Chromium browser like Opera or Brave, you should have no trouble taking YouTube screenshots with the Screenshot YouTube add-on from the Chrome Web Store. If you didn’t already know, Chrome extensions are compatible with other Chromium-based browsers.
Opera also has an extension called Screenshot YouTube Video in the Opera Add-ons store. You might want to check it out if you prefer native browser add-ons only.
However, if you use Safari on a Mac, there are no dedicated extensions capable of taking YouTube screenshots. Install Google Chrome, another Chromium-based browser, or Mozilla Firefox if you need to take proper screenshots regularly in macOS.2. Visit the YouTube-Screenshot Website
Another way to take screenshots on desktop devices is to use a website called YouTube-Screenshot. You need to copy the address of the YouTube video, select the frame you want, and download it. Image quality is limited to the 1280×720 resolution.
Copy the YouTube video URL into the clipboard of your desktop or mobile device. On the YouTube app for Android and iPhone, tap
under the video frame and select
Visit chúng tôi and paste the YouTube URL of the video into the
URL or Video ID
Scroll down to the
Play Video & Take Custom Screenshot
Play and pause the video where you want to take a screenshot and select
Take Screenshot of This Frame
Another website that offers similar functionality you might want to check is chúng tôi Again, paste the YouTube URL or video ID, and you should be able to download screenshots of any frame quickly.3. Use the Native Screenshot Tools
It’s always possible to take YouTube screenshots using the native screen capture functionalities on your PC, Mac, Android, or iPhone. They aren’t always practical because you often have to crop out lots of non-essential areas like the surrounding black bars and playback controls afterward.
If that doesn’t matter, here’s how to take a screenshot quickly using the native playback controls on your desktop or mobile device. But before you start:
Make sure to ramp up the video quality to generate clearer screenshots.
Enter full-screen mode to avoid capturing the browser/YouTube app interface and other non-essential portions of the screen.Windows and macOS

sub-folder of your computer’s
folder. Or, press the
button to add the screenshot directly to the clipboard; press
. The screenshot will immediately appear on the desktop. Learn other ways to take screenshots on the Mac.Android and iOS
: Press the
button and the
button at the same time. The screenshot will appear within Google Photos and other photo gallery apps.
iPhone & iPad
: Press the
buttons simultaneously. Find the screenshot within the
folder of the Photos app. On devices with a Home button, press
instead.Don’t Forget to Ask for the Uploader’s Permission
Do you plan to use YouTube screenshots from videos you do not own for online publishing? Although that almost always falls under Fair Use, it’s still a good idea to seek the video uploader’s permission and credit the YouTube channel should you decide to go ahead.
