Brooke Shields, Casper Association and MAKE International join forces to launch fully authenticated and secure Brooke Shields NFT from space.

Brooke Shields, Make International and CasperAssociation have joined forces with leading global cybersecurity, AI, Blockchain and IoT company WISeKey International Holding Ltd. (“WISeKey”) (SIX: WIHN, NASDAQ: WKEY) to unveil an industry-first Non-Fungible Token (NFT) minted from space on the Casper Blockchain featuring authenticated photography in cooperation with actor, model, entrepreneur, and author Brooke Shields.

The NFT, containing a one-of-a-kind photo of Brooke Shields from her private collection, was sent by a WISeSat space satellite — marking the first NFT ever to be minted in space. The launch occurred following the successful orbit deployment of several WISeSats on the SpaceX Transporter 3 Rideshare mission earlier this year.

Brooke Shields’ participation was made possible by the actor’s partnership with MAKE International, a blockchain technology services company currently developing her NFT project, scheduled to drop later this year.

“Protecting the integrity of my brand and life’s work has always been a priority for me. With the blockchain solution from WISeKey, Casper Network and MAKE International, I now have a sophisticated way of securing and authenticating this important and personal series of photographs,” said Shields.

Ralf Kubli, Board Member of the Casper Association, said, “The NFT space has developed very rapidly and seen a lot of high profile launches, but to date the technology has not kept up. Combining WISeKey’s space-minting technology and the Casper Blockchain, with its uncompromising focus on security and performance, represents a giant leap forward in future-proofing NFT technology.”

Alex Kelly, CEO of MAKE international, added, “Celebrities spend a lifetime building and creating their content portfolio, and when it comes to commercializing this via NFTs, without secure minting and storage, its value can vaporize in an instant. This project marks the beginning of elevating the standards for secure value creation from celebrity content, an area MAKE International and its partners will be at the forefront of.”

Carlos Moreira, CEO of WISeKey, noted, “The launch of this new NFT from space marks a huge milestone for the NFT industry. The iconic photograph of legendary Brooke Shields will forever be secure, minted in space as an NFT to ensure the authenticity and legacy of the original work.”

“WISeKey’s NFT technology ensures that besides an authenticated and signed version of the actual digital asset, an irreversible link to a physical object can be created by providing a proof of ownership, provenance and relevant contracts describing future use and monetization streams remain forever and immutably verifiable on the blockchain. chúng tôi Marketplace platform, powered and secured by WISeKey’s own security technology, binds irrevocably physical objects to their digital assets in a safe end-to-end process, and includes permanent secured storage of the NFTs.”

The secure chúng tôi NFT is powered by the underlying Casper blockchain, an environmentally friendly Proof-of-Stake (PoS) protocol and the first live PoS blockchain built off the Casper CBC specification. Casper and CasperLabs are working to accelerate enterprise adoption of blockchain technology and be a new home for the global technologically savvy crypto developer community with NFTs being the main medium.

The minting of the NFT coincided with the MWC 2023 event in Barcelona, which took place from February 28 until March 3, and marks a momentous annual milestone for the latest and greatest in mobile technology and innovation globally, and was contemporaneously announced by Brooke Shields at a ceremony in New York City.

How To Make And Sell Nft Art: Step

So you’re here because you heard about Nyan Cat. Or maybe it was Grimes’ collection of weird demon baby cherub things. Or something having to do with Lindsay Lohan. Whatever the reason, you’ve decided you’re going to make hay while the crypto sun shines, you’ve got the art skills to do it, and the only thing you’re missing is the crypto know-how to get your work up there where the kind of people who will pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for a GIF can smile upon your work and maybe cough up a few grand your way.

Well, you’re in luck, because we simplified the whole process into a few easy steps that will have your own bizarre crypto art immortalized on the blockchain in no time.

How to Make and Sell NFT Art

Down below, we will take you step-by-step through the process of turning your beloved artwork into a newly-minted NFT that will outlive us all on the Ethereum Blockchain. We say Ethereum because, at least for the time being, Ethereum is the prime blockchain for selling and trading NFTs.

Step 1: Create Some Art

The first thing you’ll have to do when setting out to sell some NFT art is, well, create some art of your own. This can be almost any form of media — GIFs, illustrations, videos, 3D models and the like. A short stroll through Rarible or Foundation will give you an idea of the general Inclinations in crypto Art. Currently, there seems to A preference for either very avant-garde, experimental abstract art or meme-heavy internet culture references. Not that that should necessarily inform your work — we won’t be wading into the “creation for the market” debate right here. Once you’ve settled on the kind of art you’d like to upload, you’re free to move on to the next step.

Step 2: Set Up an Ethereum Wallet

There are numerous wallets out there to choose from to serve as your public address and store your private key, but it is generally recommended to rely on a hardware wallet. If you need help choosing the best wallet for you, we made detailed comparisons between the best-selling hardware wallets in our Trezor vs Ledger breakdown, as well as an examination of the Ledger Nano S vs X.

In case you are new to cryptocurrency, here’s a quick crash course on how crypto wallets work: They are essentially software or hardware that help you operate a public address on your cryptocurrency’s blockchain. This public address is what stores the cryptocurrency and is viewable by all, though its ownership is completely anonymous (unless you make it otherwise). Every public address has a private key that is used to deposit, withdraw, or send funds to and from the address. Think of it as a mailbox: everybody can see it, knows where it is, and can send mail to it. But only the person with the key to the mailbox can open it and retrieve what’s inside.

There are two types of wallets: Hot Wallets which are connected to the Internet and provide greater convenience to the user at the expense of lesser security, and Cold Wallets which Store your information offline and are less convenient for frequent use but provide much greater security to the user. A popular example of a hot wallet is the commonly used MyEtherWallet, while the best examples of cold wallets are the hardware-based wallets from Trezor or Ledger that we mentioned above — and also pen and paper. Yes,good ol’ pen and paper can function as a cold wallet as well, though you’ll need to generate your own public addresses which can be a pain.

We recommend MyEtherWallet or Metamask for new users who are new to crypto and only looking to put their work up for sale, or any of the Trezor/Ledger hardware wallets for those interested in storying crypto in general (as well as those who have made a sale of significant value and would like to keep their earnings safe!).

Note that Foundation only connects to Metamask.

Step 3: Buy Some Ether

In the maelstrom of news and surging interest in NFTs, it may be news to you that putting an NFT up for sale will actually cost you some money. This is because of how the Ethereum blockchain works: Unlike Bitcoin, in which miners are rewarded with Bitcoin for contributing the computing power necessary to verify transactions and add their record to the blockchain, Ethereum miners are paid with a different currency on the blockchain known as gas.

Whenever you are looking to confirm a transaction and added to the blockchain, a transaction fee is paid (ostensibly to cover the gas and platform fee) — Ethereum miners are able to pick and choose what contracts they would like to expend the computer power on and thus the more gas you pay for your transaction, the faster your contract will be carried out and added to the blockchain. This includes uploading your NFT.

So you will want to buy some Ether in order to purchase the gas and pay the transaction fee. Transaction fees fluctuate pretty wildly, but are overall significantly lower than they were A month or two ago when Ether started its bullrush to $2000.

Step 4: Choose a Marketplace

Once you have your art, your wallet, and some Ether burning a hole in your pocket, you are ready to put your NFT to market. What do you want to do is head over to chúng tôi and take a look at their selection of dApps — short for decentralized apps. Rarible, Nifty Gateway, and Foundation are some good starting points to get a handle on the Ethereum market and some eyeballs on your own NFT. Each one caters to a slightly different taste so make sure to check all three of them, as well as the many other market places, before settling on one.

Foundation seems to be the best for digital painting, while Nifty Gateway caters most to 3D models and Rarible seems to be a chaotic mix of the aforementioned of Avant-Garde/Internet meme culture fusion.

Step 5: Upload Your Art

This latter feature is an innovative leap forward for digital artists who, unlike their traditional counterparts, could never truly limit the supply of any one work once dispensed nor produce a true “original.” An NFT essentially comes with a blockchain-printed certificate of authenticity that proves its originality as the original work, making it possible for the original artist to get a cut of every subsequent trade/sale — a feature even traditional artists can’t feasibly reap the benefits of. Once you’ve chosen the work, set your copies, and royalty fee, you’re ready to move on to the final step.

Step 6: Pay the Transaction Fee

With your NFT artwork locked and loaded, all you need to do is pull the trigger on the gas and you can sit back while your work is uploaded to the blockchain and becomes a unique entity on the network, immutable and invulnerable to any server collapse. The transaction fee will ensure that your NFT is mined by whichever Ethereum miner picks up the contract, pocketing your fee for their trouble.

After that, it should only be a matter of a couple minutes before your newly-minted NFT is up and on the market for just waiting to make the day of the keen-eyed patron who sees it first!

Witness Space History By Tuning Into The First Almost

Today, the European Space Agency (ESA) will livestream imagery from its Mars Express orbiter in near-real time. The live stream is scheduled to begin on June 2 at 12:00 PM EDT. You can watch the hour-long live stream on the ESA’s YouTube channel.

Mars Express has been orbiting Mars for the past 20 years, sending back data on the vast landscape of the Red Planet along the way. Slight technical delays have hampered these views, and sometimes the images take hours and even days to transmit to Earth.

[Related: The Mars Express just got up close and personal with Phobos.]

That changes with today’s historic livestream. If all goes according to plan, today’s images will get to Earth about 18 minutes after they are taken. It will take 17 minutes for light to travel from Mars to Earth and then about one minute to pass through the servers and wires on the ground.

According to the ESA, “This will be the closest you can get to a live view from the Red Planet.”

New images will be seen roughly every 50 seconds as they are beamed down directly from the orbiter’s Visual Monitoring Camera (VMC).

On June 2, 2003, Mars Express launched with a lander called Beagle 2. The pair arrived in orbit on December 25, 2003, and Beagle 2 touched ground the same day. However, Beagle 2 never made contact with Earth because at least one of its four solar panels failed to deploy properly, thus blacking the landers communications antenna.

Mars Express still moved on as planned and began to study our celestial neighbor with seven different instruments. In two decades, the orbiter has already accomplished a great deal, including detecting methane in the Martian atmosphere, spotting a possible subsurface lake near the Red Planet’s south pole, and mapping the composition of ice near both of the planet’s poles.

The VMC, or Mars Webcam, was not initially planned to break so many records. Its primary job was just to monitor the separation of the Beagle 2 lander from the Mars Express spacecraft. After completing that first mission, the camera was turned off.

[Related: The ill-fated Beagle 2 may have landed on Mars after all.]

“We developed new, more sophisticated methods of operations and image processing, to get better results from the camera, turning it into Mars Express’s 8th science instrument,” VMC team member Jorge Hernández Bernal said in a statement. “From these images, we discovered a great deal, including the evolution of a rare elongated cloud formation hovering above one of Mars’ most famous volcanoes – the 20 km-high [12 miles] Arsia Mons.”

To celebrate Mars Express’ 20th birthday, multiple ESA teams have spent months developing the tools that will allow for higher-quality, science-processed images to be streamed live for a full hour back on Earth.

“This is an old camera, originally planned for engineering purposes, at a distance of almost three million kilometers [18 million miles] from Earth—this hasn’t been tried before and to be honest, we’re not 100 percent certain it’ll work,” Spacecraft Operations Manager at ESA’s mission control center in Darmstadt, Germany James Godfrey said in a statement. “But I’m pretty optimistic. Normally, we see images from Mars and know that they were taken days before. I’m excited to see Mars as it is now – as close to a martian ‘now’ as we can possibly get!’

Start Drawing Nft Art: Nft Features, Challenges And Prospects

NFT is one of the results of the success and effectiveness of blockchain technology that has gone beyond the purchase and exchange of crypto. Today, NFT artists are one of the new and popular professions, and recent Internet trends show that even by drawing simple pixel art, you can make a lot of money.

New crypto projects are launched regularly, which requires a lot of investment and attention to detail, and the NFT is no exception in this case. As a result, artists become one of the most sought-after employees, along with blockchain developers. But if a company wants to hire NFT artist, then it is best to turn to a full-fledged studio of professionals for the project to succeed. Although artists from marketplaces or freelance platforms are also worth considering, in most cases, they do not have all the necessary knowledge to implement complex projects.

Getting Started as an NFT Artist

Blockchain is considered one of the most secure systems that allow you to perform various crypto-related actions and not worry about the security or honesty of transactions. All this is thanks to smart contracts and tokens.

A token is information about a digital file, such as an art or picture. It includes data on its value, the creator, and all owners: former and current.

The information is stored on the blockchain like a huge virtual ledger. Its parts are stored in different places, and there is no single control center, so the blockchain is decentralized. Due to this, information about the token cannot be changed but can only be supplemented. For example, if art has a new owner or the price changes, the token automatically reflects this. It doesn’t sound very easy, but it’s worth it. So how to make a NFT art?

Before creating an NFT, you must choose a file format. It depends on the type of artwork you plan to create (JPG, SVG, WEBP, and PNG) for images. In rare cases, you can find NFT music or video, for which MP4 and MP3 are used. Having decided, you need to choose on which blockchain NFT tokens will be minted and on which platform to sell them.

Here are some of them:

OpenSea: This is one of NFT’s largest and best-known marketplaces. It offers a wide range of digital collectibles, artwork, virtual lands, and more. Users can easily buy, sell and exchange NFTs on this platform.

Rarible: It is in fact a decentralized marketplace that allows creators to mine and sell their own NFTs. It offers a diverse collection of digital assets, including artwork, music, gaming items, and virtual real estate.

SuperRare: They specialize primarily in digital artwork. It features unique and limited edition works created by artists in the form of NFTs. The platform allows collectors to purchase these exclusive works of art and trade them in the marketplace.

Nifty Gateway: This is a handy platform that specializes in digital art and collectibles. It partners with various well-known artists to produce limited edition NFT drops that can be purchased directly from the platform.

NBA Top Shot: This is an NFT platform that offers digital collectibles related to basketball. It allows fans to own and share officially licensed NBA highlights, known as “moments.” These moments are unique and rare, making them coveted by basketball fans.

Binance NFT Trading Platform: One of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges, also launched its NFT trading platform. It provides a platform for artists and creatives to mine, buy, and sell NFT. The marketplace offers a variety of digital assets, including artwork, collectibles, and virtual worlds.

Coinbase NFT: Another well-known cryptocurrency exchange, has entered the NFT market with its own NFT platform. Coinbase NFT allows users to find, buy and sell NFT, including digital art, sports collectibles, and more.

To choose the right one, you need to see what functionality they offer to users. Don’t be afraid to start, even if you don’t fully know how to make NFT art. Over time, you can become an NFT artist for hire and improve your skills based on the task and orders on the platform.

Developing Your NFT Art Style and Brand

Creating a unique (in terms of visual design) NFT is often one of the main criteria for its sales and success. Along with classical art styles such as expressionism, cubism, or futurism, NFT is open to more modern trends.

The most popular is the Pixel or Retro NFT style art, which is simple in execution but has good recognition and fans among the crypto community. The second is animals, particularly Monkeys in various branded clothes and accessories, which blew up the Internet in 2023 and continue to be popular. It is also worth mentioning Anime and Cartoon Art, which are slightly inferior to the previous two styles, but have a more elaborate design and visualization.

The list can be updated because the number of NFTs is growing, and the popularity of certain styles can jump up and down chaotically. But for starters, it’s worth choosing one thing and creating a collection in the same style to create a sustainable brand and recognition among other artists.

You must use all available web resources to demonstrate and promote your NFT art. For example:

Reddit

Discord

Twitter

YouTube

Instagram

Do not forget about Tik Tok because this is one of the most popular applications where you can promote your brand with the successful management of tags and activity.

Case Studies: Success Stories of NFT Artists

Every successful artist or NFT project has its method that works. Among the crypto and NFT communities, the great success and failure of Cool Apes and other equally popular collections are still remembered by the community. But still, among them, there are those who, despite the difficulties, still stably keep the level of top NFT artists.

NFT Project REBEL BOTS

This project started in August 2023 by minting the genesis of the Rebel Bots NFT collection. After some time, the company decided to create a full-fledged P2E game. And it has caught the attention of some gaming industry giants, including Ubisoft and Overwolf. Ubisoft’s management decision was pretty surprising as they don’t often invest in something, so for Rebel Bots, it was a chance they took and released a great NFT project.

The game core is the Collectible Card mechanic, which is used for the main gameplay aspects. The visual design was developed by top NFT artists from the RetroStyle Games studio, for whom this experience was quite useful and allowed them to develop in this direction. Cards and lands in the game can be bought, exchanged, or put up for various auctions. As in any other P2E, the value of NFTs is determined by the unique appearance, characteristics, abilities, or mechanics of cards. As a result, Rebel Bots – Xoil Wars has been added to the collection of NFT games, and the community can earn real money by playing the game.

RetroStyle Games Studio

Not only artists but entire studios can be part of the NFT ecosystem. Initially, as its name implies, the studio focused on creating classic retro games and providing outsourcing services for game development. But over time, the list of their services was replenished with the creation of NFT arts and full-fledged games.

These top NFT artists’ design services include a full range of tokens and games, allowing modern companies to enter the market with better conditions. As a result, the studio is one of the tops one’s today, which works with global companies in the NFT business. This is an example of how to manage resources and follow trends properly.

Alexa Meade

How about independent artists? Alexa Meade also transitioned from physical art to NFT. At the beginning of her career, she held successful auctions where she exhibited body painting masterpieces for art connoisseurs. But NFT has allowed fans to own her video art, which can be viewed in motion, as the artist originally intended. To hire an NFT artist is easy, but finding someone like Alexa Meade is pretty hard.

The reason for this success was a completely new style that had not been used by anyone before for the NFT. This is obvious because to see something other than anime and monkeys was like a breath of fresh air. As a result, Alexa Meade brought together live art and digital technology.

Navigating Challenges and Future Trends in the NFT Art World

To become a successful artist, you must know art theory and practice. To become a successful NFT artist for hire, besides the previous one, you need to know many details related to the crypto market, NFT trends or new NFT style art, self-promotion, etc. Not everyone will spend that much time learning new things knowing that the NFT market can be very volatile. This is where the main challenges lie.

But in addition to them, more and more new trends, such as AI, appear. This technology causes a lot of controversy and, at the same time, is the result of the hard work of humankind. Although the use of AI in the NFT is not yet so popular, this does not mean that it will not be.

Guidance And Support Offered To International Students

Guidance and Support Offered to International Students A town hall meeting helps explain a confusing travel ban

Moderator Willis Wang, vice president and associate provost for global programs (from left), and panelists Jeanne Kelley, ISSO managing director, immigration lawyer Elizabeth Goss, Jennifer Grodsky, vice president for federal relations, Alejandra St. Guillen, director of Boston’s Office for Immigrant Advancement, and Kenneth Elmore (SED’87), associate provost and dean of students, at Tuesday’s panel discussion on the Trump administration’s executive order on immigration.

The situation is fluid. Be conservative. Ask for help. Don’t go through this alone.

“The University is going to make sure it’s about care,” said Kenneth Elmore (SED’87), associate provost and dean of students. “You should not face the anxiety that you feel alone.”

Elmore said students should use his office as well as the International Students & Scholars Office (ISSO), Marsh Chapel, and others as places to get help for anything that’s worrying them, from making difficult travel decisions to finding a shoulder to cry on.

While the University will not violate the law to protect students from authorities, he said, it does not collect info on students’ immigration status, so if such information were subpoenaed, BU has nothing to turn over.

“It sends a larger message to the whole world, an awful message that we are not accepting of a certain group of people,” said moderator Willis Wang, vice president and associate provost for global programs. “In many ways that’s just unacceptable and intolerable.”

“It’s a very fluid situation,” said Jeanne Kelley, managing director of the ISSO. “We are continuing to try to get answers.”

She and immigration attorney Elizabeth Goss answered specific questions about green cards, various internship programs, dual citizenship, and foreign travel plans, as well as lawsuits aimed at blocking the executive order. They emphasized that the administration may change or even accelerate its efforts, and that more countries could be added to the original seven.

Kelley told any students from one of the seven countries named in the executive order that anyone considering travel outside the United States should “be conservative and be sure to make really good decisions before you leave.”

Alejandra St. Guillen, director of Boston’s Office for Immigrant Advancement, told the group that Mayor Martin J. Walsh “wants to extend his support of efforts against the executive order and for all of you who live, work, and study in Boston.”

The executive order “has touched him in a very visceral way and he has been an outspoken opponent,” she said, noting that her office holds regular immigration workshops for those who need help. “Whether you are here for four years or here for 40 years, you are a resident of Boston and you deserve all the rights that everyone else does.”

Jennifer Grodsky, BU’s vice president for federal relations, said many people on Capitol Hill were surprised by the language and tone of the executive order as well as its intent. She said Congressional staffs are working nights and weekends to keep up with constituent input, as “the phones are ringing off the hook. The level of energy in Congress is higher than I’ve seen it in some time.”

Grodsky said her office shared President Robert A. Brown’s statement to the BU community with the Massachusetts Congressional delegation and other friends in Washington to let them know what the impact was at BU and how the community was feeling about the executive order.

BU has 102 undergraduate and graduate students and 16 scholars from the seven countries that are under the 90-day ban, and many more international students and scholars. The executive order spurred numerous legal challenges and massive rallies in many cities, including Boston, on Sunday, as well as a smaller demonstration Monday on campus, at Marsh Plaza.

Many events about the travel ban are being held around campus. Today, Wednesday, February 1, at 4 p.m., as part of its Beyond the Headlines series, the Pardee School of Global Studies will host a Town Hall discussion, Refugees, Immigration, and Us, with faculty and students, at 121 Bay State Rd. Limited seating is available. Register by email at [email protected].

Bu Joins Association Of American Universities

BU Joins Association of American Universities Invitation recognizes research excellence

Boston University has been invited to join the prestigious Association of American Universities (AAU) after a review of the University’s research and academic programs. Photo by Kalman Zabarsky

Boston University has joined the Association of American Universities (AAU), an elite organization of 61 leading research universities in the United States and Canada. BU, one of only 4 universities invited to join the group since 2000, becomes the 62nd member. In the Boston area, only Harvard, MIT, and Brandeis are also members.

Hunter R. Rawlings III, president of the AAU, announced Monday morning that President Robert A. Brown had accepted the association’s invitation. Rawlings says the decision to extend the invitation was based on an in-depth review of the University’s research and academic programs.

“Boston University is an outstanding institution,” says Rawlings. “It belongs in the AAU by virtue of the strength of its research and academic programs. AAU universities play an essential role in America’s research enterprise and in educating the nation’s young scientists, engineers, and scholars. Boston University is a welcome addition to the ranks of these leading research universities.”

Brown says he is very pleased to have the University join the AAU. “It’s gratifying for Boston University to receive this recognition for the quality of our education and research programs,” he says. “We look forward to participating with the AAU membership in helping guide the future of research universities in the United States as a critical resource for American leadership in higher education, knowledge creation, and innovation.”

Membership in the organization is by invitation only, and is based on several criteria: the quality of programs of academic research and scholarship; undergraduate, graduate, and professional education in a number of fields; and general recognition that a university is outstanding by reason of the excellence of its research and education programs. A membership committee of AAU presidents and chancellors periodically reviews universities for AAU membership; institutions recommended for membership must be approved by a three-fourths vote of the membership.

“Boston University’s admission to the AAU is first and foremost an acknowledgment of the quality and productivity of our outstanding faculty,” says Jean Morrison, University provost and chief academic officer. “They are making fundamentally important contributions in disciplines ranging from the humanities and social sciences to the natural sciences, engineering, and medicine. But in addition to the strength of our faculty, this recognition is a testament to the exceptional leadership of our president, Bob Brown. The results of his transformative leadership are coming to fruition, and the University’s admission into the AAU is one of the very significant tangible results.”

Since his arrival at BU in 2005, Brown has made research a priority, recruiting and developing faculty in the sciences, engineering, social sciences, and humanities. In the past year alone, the University hired 53 new faculty members on the Charles River Campus, including 15 for newly created positions, and 48 new faculty on the Medical Campus. In fiscal 2012, BU received $348.4 million in research awards, one of several criteria considered in the AAU admissions process.

Recent research awards include $10 million from the National Institutes of Health to establish an Autism Center of Excellence under the leadership of Helen Tager-Flusberg, a College of Arts & Sciences professor of psychology, and $2 million from the same agency to help graduate students and postdoctoral fellows develop diagnostic and therapeutic tools for various types of cancer.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has also recognized the promise of BU research. In 2009, it awarded $8.5 million to the Center for Global Health & Development, operating under the umbrella of the School of Public Health and the leadership of Jonathon Simon, Robert A. Knox Professor and chair of international health, to explore inexpensive ways to decrease neonatal mortality in Zambia. The foundation also funded an effort by James Collins, a William Fairfield Warren Distinguished Professor and College of Engineering professor of biomedical engineering, to explore a novel approach to cholera prevention, and research by Muhammad Zaman, an ENG associate professor of biomedical engineering, to find better ways to detect counterfeit drugs in Africa and Asia.

The depth and breadth of research at BU has also enhanced the undergraduate experience, enabling students to participate in cutting-edge projects. In April, Morrison doubled the annual funding, to more than $1 million, for the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program, which has supported the work of more than 1,500 students since 1997.

“Joining the AAU is a recognition of the national prominence of our faculty and our research,” says Brown. “A major impact is that this allows us to participate in all kinds of endeavors with like-minded institutions. It gives us a seat at the table, and that will help this institution enormously.”
