If you have several people in the same room during a meeting, you usually see everyone at a distance or huddled together around a small webcam. At best, everyone has their own webcam, calling into a video meeting separately. I recently had the opportunity to test out the COOLPO AI Huddle Pana in a few small meetings of my own. Just looking at the unique features, I was already excited to see what a difference it might make. Before I get to the actual testing, let’s take a look at the features.

Despite the “huddle” part of the name, you don’t actually huddle close. Instead, the approximately foot-tall webcam complete with speaker and microphones sits either in the center of your conference table or a bit closer to a large monitor or screen, depending on the number of participants and the room you’re using.

This isn’t your everyday webcam, though. The 360-degree panoramic camera sets atop the device. Everyone in the room can be seen at all times.

Four microphones pick up voices from up to 15 feet away, allowing for free movement around the room. And, as you speak, the camera automatically shifts the focus to the speaker, highlighting them in red so that everyone knows exactly who’s speaking in the room.

Intelligent speaker tracking not only tracks voices, but faces. If you move out of the initial frame the webcam places you in, it automatically shifts to follow you without ever having to move the webcam.

The camera offers support for 720P, 1080P, and 4K HD for the clearest video possible with your connection and video conferencing app. It’s also compatible with most major video conferencing software, such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, BlueJeans, and Google Hangouts.

The plug-and-play setup means you’re not spending forever troubleshooting your hardware right before a big meeting. It’s made for smaller groups, ideally up to 15 people. Of course, any other remote group can also use their own COOLPO AI Huddle Pana webcam for more immersive virtual meetings.

Getting Started

The instruction booklet couldn’t be more clear. All you have to do is connect the COOLPO AI Huddle Pana webcam to a power source and then connect the USB cable to your computer. All cables connect securely underneath the device.

It only takes a few seconds for your system to recognize and install the device. Then, just open your chosen video conferencing tool, and you’re all set.

If you encounter any issues, check the settings in your video conferencing app and ensure the COOLPO device is selected as your speaker, microphone, and camera. I had no issue with Skype or Zoom, but in Google Meet, I had to manually change the speaker.

You’ll need to press the power button on the device. Whenever the device is on, the light underneath glows blue. When the mics are muted, it glows pink.

Testing Before the Meeting

I wanted to take a minute to see how the COOLPO AI Huddle Pana looked and worked on-screen before diving straight into a meeting. Needless to say, I was instantly impressed.

The screen is divided based on the number of speakers, just like any video-conferencing software where everyone has their own block. The difference is everyone is sharing the exact same webcam with the Coolpo webcam.

The bottom section of the screen continuously shows the entire room – a full 360-degree view of the room. If you’re working from a cluttered home office, you may want to tidy up a bit before using this as it will literally show all your dirty laundry.

The upper section is divided into individual people. I had someone come over to my home office to help with the testing. The moment he walked into the room, the camera picked him and gave him his own dedicated part of the screen. It also kept track of him as he walked around. As he spoke, his block highlighted in red and switched back quickly when I started to speak.

Meeting With Coolpo AI Huddle Pana

Let me start off by saying this was definitely a different experience. I can’t tell you how freeing it is to be able to move around and have the webcam track where I’m at without me having to adjust it. This makes giving a presentation, especially if you have physical slides or a product to demonstrate, much easier.

The video quality is definitely great, and we could easily hear the other party through the speaker. I did have to turn the volume up rather high, but it sounded clear without any echoes.

While it was just a meeting of three, it was nice to have our faces highlighted when speaking. In a larger group, this would be even more helpful, especially if you’re meeting with people who don’t already know you.

The only issue I ran into was the voice recognition where it changes focus seemed to work faster with a female voice. It took several seconds longer to recognize and switch to the male voice.

However, we tried speaking at around 10 to 11 feet away, and the mics picked us up as clearly as if we were sitting next to the mics.

Final Thoughts

If you regularly have several people in the same room during a meeting, the COOLPO AI Huddle Pana is an invaluable tool. It’s much more effective than your standard webcam. Plus, it’s easy to pack away and take with you for meetings almost anywhere, as long as you have a power source.

Overall, I can’t say enough good things about this webcam. The 360-degree panoramic view gives you the freedom to move and comfortably space yourselves out during a meeting. Plus, giving everyone their own dedicated section of the screen makes meetings feel more personal than just seeing a wide view of an entire room.

1. Block app notifications

Having all your notifications on your watch can be pretty useful but if there’s a barrage of notifications coming, it can get cumbersome. That’s the reason Google has included an option to block specific app notifications on the Moto 360.

To do it, go to the Android Wear app on your smartphone and tap the Settings cog on the top right. Then, go to “Block app notifications” and add apps that you want to block by pressing the plus floating button below. Once done, the notifications of those apps won’t be send to your watch.

2. Use Wrist Gestures

Take action on a card: To go into details of a notification card or take action, hold your arm in front of you and push it down quickly and bring it back to its original position. The first push will take you to the actions and the second time you do it, the first action will be selected.

Open Apps menu from watch face: When on the watch face screen, hold your arm in front and quickly push it down and then bring it back.

Go back to watch face: Shake your wrist to exit an app and go to the watch face.

Un brillo máximo de 358 nits no es nada del otro mundo, así que no es el portátil que debes comprar si piensas trabajar mucho al aire libre en los meses de verano. Sin embargo, es perfecto para interiores.

Los títulos 3D más antiguos, como Portal 2, se ejecutan sin problemas, pero cualquier cosa vagamente reciente no se ejecutará de forma óptima. Nuestro test habitual de vídeo 720p en bucle, con el brillo de pantalla a 120 nits, duró 14h 26m antes de apagarse. Es una media hora menos que el Samsung Galaxy Book 2 360 y está muy por debajo del LG Gram 16 (por no hablar de los MacBook), pero por lo demás está lejos de ser el peor resultado que hemos visto.

A la hora de recargarlo, Samsng incluye su habitual ladrillo de 65W. Registré una tasa de carga del 37% durante los primeros 30 minutos desde un estado apagado. No es tan rápido como el Galaxy Book 2 360, pero está bien para el tamaño y las especificaciones del portátil. Una carga completa tardará algo menos de 1 hora y 45 minutos.
