Suggested January 2024 How To Calibrate Mac Displays For The Best Picture & Color

Having an external monitor hooked up to a Mac can boost productivity significantly, and most users who get a secondary screen just hook it up and start using it – it works, so why mess around, right? But to get the best picture and color representation out of your external display, you’ll want to take the time to calibrate the screen through a built-in OS X utility. In fact, you should probably calibrate every display you use with your Mac.

Calibrating a display allows you to adjust various aspects of how the screen shows images on screen, letting the user create a display profile with a set native response, brightness, contrast, luminance, gamma, white point, and red, green, and blue levels. If you’ve never heard of any of that before, don’t worry, it’s easy to configure and you just follow your eyes to calibrate the display. If you mess it up, you can just recalibrate the display again, or go back to a default, nothing is permanently changed.

For what it’s worth, this works to calibrate internal displays on the iMac and MacBook series too, but those typically ship with a good profile already set by Apple, making this less necessary than it is with a third party external display. Nonetheless, some built-in displays which look dull can benefit considerably from recalibrating.

How to Calibrate a Screen & Create a Display Profile in Mac OS X

This works with any display connected to a Mac – whether internal or external. If you use multiple screens, you’ll want to calibrate them all and create a unique profile for each display for the best results.

Connect the display to the Mac if it isn’t connected yet (obviously not necessary for an internal display)

Open the System Preferences from the  Apple menu and go to the “Displays” preference pane

Choose the “Color” tab

Check the box for “Expert Mode – This turns on extra options” and choose “Continue”

Follow the on screen instructions and adjust the options as visually appropriate – each display is unique and thus the location of the sliders will be different per display

When finished, name the display profile and save it by choosing “Done”

The newly created display profile will be selected by default, you can see the difference by choosing the older display profile (or the default Color LCD) from the profile list, it should look considerably better. If for some reason it looks worse, you can either recalibrate the screen again and make a new profile, or just go with one of the default options like Color LCD, though they are rarely optimal for third party displays.

Remember, calibration and profiles are set on a per display basis. That means the internal display of a MacBook Pro would have a different profile than an external Thunderbolt display, and a different display from a connected TV screen or other display. Thus, if you connect a different display you’d want to re-calibrate that display as well. Additionally, if you use two or more screens, you’d want to calibrate them all for the best results.

Enjoy your newly calibrated Mac display. Make this a habit every time you get a new screen for your Mac, or hook your computer up to another display, it makes everything look much better.

How To Hide The Menu Bar On External Secondary Displays In Mac Os X

For Mac users who use external screens, multi-display support has been greatly improved in new versions of OS X, but one feature that is either loved or hated is the addition of the secondary menu bar that is visible on the external display(s). The secondary menu bar serves the obvious purpose of providing easy access to menu items, but it also functions as an active focus indicator, letting you know which of the multiple displays has the currently active focus for windows and the mouse cursor. When one screen is active, the menu bar on that display will be shown at normal brightness, whereas the display that does not have focus will show a dimly faded translucent menu bar, as shown in this screen shot:

OS X provides a setting to hide the external display menu bar (or show it, if it’s hidden for some reason) if you don’t like it and the whole dimming indicator thing, though the wording of the setting doesn’t offer much hint that it has anything to do with menu bars or secondary screens.

Disable the Menu Bar on External Displays in OS X Mavericks, Yosemite, El Capitan

This will remove the menu bar from the external display completely, including the translucent display focus indicator:

Open System Preferences from the  Apple menu and choose the “Mission Control” preference panel

Uncheck the box next to “Displays have separate Spaces”

Log out and log back in to the user account for the change to take effect (or reboot, but logging out and back in is usually much faster)

Note: if you toggle this off you may wish to set the primary display again to indicate which screen you want the Mac menu bar and Dock to appear on. The primary display also becomes where new windows and alert dialogs appear by default.

Toggling “Displays have separate spaces” to OFF does not play well with full-screen app mode, thus if you like how Mavericks handles full screen apps on multiple displays, you will not want to turn this feature off. That’s a fairly significant side effect and it’s important to understand that this basically causes OS X El Capitan, OS X Yosemite, and OS X Mavericks multi-display behavior to be like that of OS X Mountain Lion and other prior versions of Mac OS X. Yes, the secondary display is still entirely usable, so long as full screen apps are not used, since full screen apps become the “Spaces” this setting adjusts. Ideally, an update to OS X will separate the menu bar setting from the Spaces setting, into an optional and unrelated adjustment somewhere in Display preferences, similar to how you can indicate which display the menu bar shows up on.

There may be a defaults setting that can toggle the brightness and/or menu bar options separately, similar to how you can make terminal windows focus follow the mouse cursor, but we have not yet found it or been made aware of such a trick. If you know of one, send us an email, tweet, or post it on our Facebook or Google+ pages.

How Do I Show the External Displays Menu Bar?

By the way, the same setting for showing the secondary display menu bar in OS X also will allow you to see the Dock on an external display in OS X, something to keep in mind.

How To Copy Object From Picture And Video In Iphone And Mac? – Webnots

There are plenty of image processing apps available for iOS and macOS to remove the background and isolate objects from pictures. Good thing is that now you can do this without any third-party app in iPhone and Mac. Though it is a basic feature, you can simply copy the object and paste or share anywhere. This works on default apps like Photos in iPhone and Preview, Photos and Quick Time Player in Mac.

Copy Objects from Images in iPhone

Most third-party apps help to remove background from the picture and retain the main object. However, default iOS works other way round to copy the object by separating it from the background. This works automatically with image recognition and all what you need is a picture where an object is clearly visible. The object could be yourself, your pet, children or any other item in a picture. Make sure to update your iPhone to iOS 17 or later and follow the below steps.

Launch Photos app to find and open the picture from which you want to separate an object.

Tap and press the object and you will notice the outline of the object glows instantly.

Drag the object to confirm it can be moved independently without any other objects or background from the picture.

Drag and Move Object in Image

This indicates your iPhone can identify the object and lift your finger.

You will see a toolbar appears showing menu items on top of the object.

You will have three options – Copy, Add Sticker and Share.

Object Extract Options in iPhone

Tap on “Copy” option to copy the object to clipboard.

Now, open Messages or any other app and tap on the text box field to reveal the menu.

Select “Paste” to insert the copied object from clipboard.

Paste Lifted Object in New Message

Creating Sticker from Object

If you want to create a sticker from the object on your picture, select “Add Sticker” option. This will open stickers pane from the bottom showing the extracted object. Tap on “Add Effect” option from the toolbar and iPhone will show few options to decorate your sticker. Select the effect and tap on “Done” to save your object as a sticker.

Add Sticker Effect for Extracted Object

Go to Messages app, tap on the + icon showing left side of the text box and then select “Stickers” option to view your object showing there in the stickers list.

Stickers Menu in iPhone Messages App

Tap on the sticker to insert in your conversations or drag and attach the sticker to any previous messages in the conversation.

Select and Insert Stickers in Messages App

Sharing Object from Image

In addition to copying and creating stickers, you can share the object from any picture by selecting the “Share” option. This will open the default iPhone’s sharing pane showing all available options like AirDrop, Save to Files or add to new Quick Note. You can also directly share the object on social networking apps like WhatsApp or Facebook.

Share Object from Picture

Note: As you can see, the extracted object is in transparent PNG format which is 1.2 MB in size though it is very small. If you want to reduce the file size, first save to files. Later, you can process it with any image editing apps and convert to compressed JPEG format.

Copy Object from Video

iOS 17 added an additional feature to extract objects from videos.

Open your video in Photos app.

Pause the video where you see the object is clearly visible.

Tap on the object and hold till you see it is glowing.

Lift your finger to see the same toolbar menu appears showing options for copy, add to stickers and share.

Copy Object from iPhone Video

Copy Object from Image or Video in Mac

Mac also supports removing background and lifting the object from pictures and videos.

Open your picture or video in Photos app. If it is a video, pause it in a position where you can see the object clearly. You can also open pictures in Preview and videos in Quick Time Player.

Mac will show a glowing outline on the identified object indicating you can lift that object separately.

Select “Copy Subject” to extract the object to your clipboard.

Copy Object in Mac Preview App

Open Messages or any other app and paste the copied object in the text box.

Paste Copied Object in Messages App

Note: Though there are no sticker option in Mac, all stickers created in iPhone will be synchronized in iCloud and available across all your devices.

Share Object from Image and Videos in Mac

Share Object in Freeform App

Note: Some apps like Preview and Quick Time Player will show additional options for copying or sharing the entire image frame from the video in addition to copy/share the object.

Copy or Share Image from Video in Quick Time Player

Copying Multiple Objects

As mentioned, copying object from a picture or video is a very basic feature in iPhone/Mac. Here are some problems you will face with this feature.

When there are multiple objects in the picture, iPhone and Mac will identify them as a single object together. This means when you have two persons in a picture, you can only copy both of them together and no possibility of copying either of them separately.

The feature will automatically identify only one major object in your picture/video. It will not identify smaller objects and you have no option to manually select different item.

You may need to go for third-party image processing apps if you need granular controls for removing background or lifting objects from your pictures/videos.

Best Teleprompter Apps For Mac In 2023

For those unaware, a teleprompter refers to the device used to give presenters visual access to the text they need to speak. While Media/News publications largely use such tools, numerous content creators developing videos can find teleprompter apps on Mac helpful as they provide almost the same utility as an actual teleprompter.

Since Apple devices don’t have an in-built teleprompter, here is my curated list of the best apps for Mac. Let’s get started!

1. Promt+ Teleprompter: Editor’s choice

PromtPlus Teleprompter is the best teleprompter app on this list as it provides the Voice Recognition feature. The text scrolls automatically as it recognizes what is being read. And it works flawlessly. While other apps provide this feature, this app performed the best in our testing.

The app also allows you to import your scripts from Dropbox, Google Drive, iCloud, or OneDrive in .txt, .rtf, .pdf, and Google Doc formats. The app will also display a clock and allow you to set a timer, which is extremely useful for time-bound content.

Above that, it’s free. Yes, this app is free! However, the caveat is that a script can have only 750 words. If you want to go beyond this limitation, you’ll have to pay a one-time fee of $10.00. Totally worth it, in my opinion, if you regularly use a teleprompter tool. Besides, it performs well for meetings, etc., too.

Pros

Voice recognition

One-tap switch to the dark and light mode

Free to use

Cons

No transparency features

Price: Free (Pro upgrade: One-time payment of $10.00)

Download

2. Virtual Teleprompter lite: Best free teleprompter for Mac

Further, you can adjust the scrolling speed by using the arrow keys or even manually scrolling through text.

You can set the font size and have three font color options: black, white, and green. A significant feature of this app is that it has support for RTL languages such as Arabic & Hebrew.

It has a 1,000-word limit and supports only one script as it is the app’s free version. The app’s Pro version will set you back by $3.99 and is a one-time purchase. I’ll provide you with links to both; get the one that best suits your needs.

Pros

Transparency feature

Support for RTL languages

Adjust fonts color & size

Cons

1,000-word limit

Limited to one script for free version;

Price: Free (Pro upgrade: One-time payment of $3.99)

Download

Note: There is a paid version called Visual Teleprompter Pro if you want full access to the app.

3. PowerPrompter Express: Most professional teleprompter

PowerPrompter Express is not only the most professional teleprompter for Mac but also provides users with a good deal of applications. There are numerous settings under Script, Overlay, and Displays. It is beginner-friendly, and professionals who are used to teleprompter tools will feel at home.

The app is optimized for both Intel and M1 macs and is not a Windows port. If you need to confine a script under a certain time range, you can set the timer, and the text will scroll accordingly.

You can also open multiple teleprompter windows at the same time. And the option to turn a window transparent is available here. This is the free version, and the only drawback is that it can prompt text for five minutes only. You’ll have to buy the paid version to unlock the time cap.

Pros

Numerous features

Optimized for Intel and M1 Macs

Free version has all the features

Cons

5-min cap

Premium version is expensive

Price: Free

Download

Note: To unlock all features, you’ll have to buy Power Prompter costing $49.99.

4. Teleprompter Premium +: Remote control access

Teleprompter Premium + layout displays most of the necessary features intuitively on the main window. You can store multiple scripts. It also displays a timer that predicts and displays the time left by referring to the scrolling speed. Smart, right?

If that is not enough, you can also control them remotely. And it’s not just through one mode; you can use multiple devices to control this app like a keyboard, presentation remote, media remote, gaming controllers, foot pedals, Wi-Fi/LAN through browsers and other iOS devices too. That’s an exhausting list, but there are multiple possibilities.

Once you’ve upgraded to the premium, you can use this app on multiple devices. It records video while prompting text on the iPhone. A great tool for vloggers who can use the camera alongside this app on the iPhone.

Pros

Control remotely with multiple devices

Predicts time

Record video

Cons

Most features are unlocked with a premium subscription

Price: Free (In-app purchases start at $7.99)

Download

5. PromtSmart Pro Teleprompter: Record video and audio

PromtSmart Pro Teleprompter is another app with the voice tracking feature, but we already have an application for that. So, why did we choose this app? Because with this app, you can record the audio and video while reading text from the teleprompter display. Users can set the quality in which the camera captures video.

You also get in-app camera controls like tap-to-focus, auto-exposure lock, and auto-focus lock. If you are on a budget and need to record videos through your MacBook, this will be a resourceful application.

The app can teleprompt continuously for 30mins with a 5,000-word upper limit. Please use an external mic for the voice tracking feature to work flawlessly. It also has more features than other apps on the list.

Pros

Voice tracking

Video and Audio recording

Camera controls

Cons

Slow software updates

Price: Paid $19.99

Download

6. Teleprompter – Floating Notes: Floating windows and customizability

Teleprompter: Floating Notes is among those apps providing all the basic tools you are looking for and helping add more personality to the interface. You can change the font and the background color and be spoilt for choice.

The user interface is minimal, and all the settings available are right there on the app’s home screen. You can have multiple scripts. Now, you have the option to add a floating window, but it will only display one window.

You can download the app for free, and if you feel the need, you can upgrade to the Pro version, offering more features.

Pros

Customizability

Floating window

Cons

Limited features

Price: Free

Download

Bonus – Teleprompter Software: Free tool

If you’re running short of space or want a teleprompter to work out of any web browser, Teleprompter Software is the best tool for you. It does the basics right.

You can upload your script to the website or even type it there. Once done, you can save your script, set the scrolling speed font size, and event shrink margins for more convenience. This helps as if your eyes aren’t moving from one side to another; not many people will tell you are reading text from your screen.

Price: Free

Download

That’s it!

Best Ide Apps For Mac In 2023

Dealing with errors while working with C/C++, PHP, Python, Java, Swift, or any other programming language is an uphill battle. An Integrated Development Environment (IDE) is a workspace where you can build, package, and edit code.

Keeping in mind the frustration faced while coding, I’ve curated this list of the best IDE apps for mac that provide you with some extra functionalities and, more importantly, are compatible with your MacBook Pro and Air.

1. Microsoft Visual Studio – The all-in-one IDE

Visual Studio is a Microsoft IDE written in C++ that may be used to create complex, high-performance programs. It is more than just simple editing or debugging software. Compilers, code completion tools, graphic designers, and source control features are also there to aid in the software development process.

The nice part about the app is that it allows you to design an application and carve a route for it into any device operating on any platform. It makes the stuff you perform every day more fluid and responsive as it diagnoses and eliminates an issue before they arise, which lets you focus on your code rather than the syntax.

The software allows you to work in various programming languages, although it is most compatible with Azure and .NET programming. The program is accessible for both Windows and Mac and excels in coding, building, debugging, deploying, collaborating, analyzing, and learning.

While working on Cloud, Desktop/Mac, App Development, Game Development, Data Science, Machine Learning, or AI projects, you can code on .NET, C#, C++, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, and chúng tôi However, while working on Mac, you are only permitted to use .NET and C# and believe me when I say that this is one of the best IDEs for C# you can find for your Mac.

With a new dark mode and integrated macOS accessibility features, Visual Studio truly embraces the macOS experience. If you’re using Windows, the sophisticated IDE comes in three editions: Community 2023, Enterprise 2023, and Professional 2023. Mac users can grab the free version via the Download link below.

2. Android Studio – Your go-to app maker

Google and JetBrains, giants in their own domains, jointly developed an Integrated Development Environment (IDE) named Android Studio. The program is written in JavaScript, Kotlin, and C++. Additionally, it can be considered as a substitute for the Eclipse Android Development Tools (E-ADT).

Whether you’re an established developer or just starting your career in App Development, Android Studio is the best IDE for you. The application allows you to code for any device, including iPhone, Android, Watch, and TV.

You can emulate any iPhone or Android device, and its development extends to wearOS, the backbone of Google’s wearables. Personally, I’m looking forward to the day when they include watchOS app development in the IDE. You may also install third-party extensions to make your coding job fun, more manageable, and smooth.

The minimum requirement to get it on your Mac is 8GB of RAM, macOS 10.14 (Mojave) or higher, ARM-based CPU, or 2nd generation Intel Core with support for Hypervisor-framework, at least 8GB of accessible disk space, and a screen resolution of 1280×800.

Python is one of the most blossoming programming languages in the IT sector. While JetBrains IDE PyCharm is the best Integrated Development Environment (IDE) for Python. The software’s core is written in Java and Python programming languages.

The software includes code analysis, a graphical debugger, an integrated unit tester, an interface with version control systems, and Django support. This program is excellent since it is cross-platform and functions on Microsoft Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Aside from that, the IDE is well-known for providing shortcuts for each of its features, which you may learn through time. Furthermore, the IDE may generate code for constructors, destructors, getters/setters, and other similar functions.

Refactoring the code is straightforward while using PyCharm, which is one of the most significant aspects of developing error-free code. Another feature that aids in writing efficiency is the conflict highlighter, which allows you to manage code issues before compilation.

Furthermore, PyCharm comes in two editions: Professional Edition and Community Edition, both of which are available for Intel-based Macs and Apple chip-powered Macs.

Supported Programming language: Python.

4. Xcode – Apple developer

Swift is yet another well-known programming language. It is mainly used when developing apps for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS. Apple is protective of its technology and does not want anybody to encroach on it, so the company established a whole IDE known as XCode to allow programmers to write programs for Apple devices.

The IDE, like the others on the list, supports cross-platform development. The software’s performance has increased, and added new features to aid developers in development have been incorporated into the newly released version.

The SwiftUI integration allows you to code the attractive front end. Plus, regular expressions in Swift are integrated with syntax highlighting, refactoring operations, and more, and when you scroll, code structure (such as function declarations) is visible, so you always know where you are.

Like all other IDEs, it includes straightforward and quick navigation as well as keyboard shortcuts for the majority of the functionality. The IDE’s impressive feature is the capacity for more intelligent code completion, and extra dynamic snippets will bring you the code you want faster. It examines your code as you type and displays errors immediately. There’s also a built-in debugger.

Start developing apps for your Apple devices by downloading XCode from the link below.

Supported Programming languages: Swift, SwiftUI.

Pros

Smooth navigation

Application testing

Schemes feature

Cons

5. NetBeans – The old dog

Enterprise-level applications that prioritize security frequently utilize JAVA, which has been around for a long time. JAVA, like all other languages, has numerous frameworks, and this IDE comes with a built-in terminal, debugger, and version control tools to make it easier for you to write in it.

You may generate particular codes within the app, such as getter/setter syntax, constructors, exceptions, and so on. This, like any other IDE, examines your code in real-time and warns you if there is a conflict with variables or classes.

If JAVA is your preference for developing applications, this is an all-in-one IDE. In contrast to other premium IDEs, this one only supplies a community edition that allows you full access for free.

Supported Programming languages: Java, PHP, JavaFX, JavaScript, C/C++, Python, HTML5, etc.

Pros

Server creation and deployment

Easy to install

Lightweight runtime

Cons
