You can save new contacts on Android or iPhone to an account like Google, Yahoo, Outlook, iCloud, etc., or store them on the device itself. By default, the first account added to your phone will be the default account for saved contacts. However, if you have multiple accounts added to your phone, you can choose the default saved location for contacts. Here you’ll learn how to change the default contact storage on Android, iPhone, and Samsung Galaxy phones.

Whenever you add an email account on your phone and enable the contacts sync feature for that account, all the existing contacts in that account will show up on your phone. Basically, you can view contacts from multiple accounts on your device. But your device will store new contacts to your default account unless you tell it otherwise (on Android). Note that you can have only one default account on your Android phone or iPhone.

Most Android phones come with a proprietary Contacts app that will allow you to change the default contact account. Note that for a particular account to show up as an option, you need to have enabled the contact sync option for it.

Depending on your phone model, look for a way to access “Contacts Manager.” On a OnePlus, we tapped on the three dots in the upper-right corner to get to this option.

Select the “Account contacts” option.

You’ll notice a list of all the accounts where you’ve enabled contact sync. Tap on the “Default account for new contacts” and select the account you wish to make default.

Alternatively, add a new account, such as a Yahoo account.

You can easily change the storage location for new contacts from the Google Contacts app on your Android phone (if it’s set as your default contacts app).

Open the Google Contacts app on your Android phone.

Tap on your profile picture at the top and select “Contacts app settings.”

Tap on “Default account for new contacts” and choose an account from the list. All accounts for which you’ve synced contacts will appear, including non-Gmail accounts.

Open the Samsung Contacts app.

Tap on the three-bar icon under your profile picture on the left and select “Manage contacts.”

Tap on “Set default storage location” and select the desired account. Once again, only accounts for which you’ve synced contacts will appear.

You can decide where you want to save a contact when you are creating a new contact on Android. You can either go with the default account or choose another account.

Start the process of creating a new contact. For that, open the Contacts app on your phone. Depending on the Contacts app, you may need to take slightly different routes. For instance, tap on the floating (+) add icon in Google Contacts or press the (+) icon at the top in the Samsung Contacts app.

On the screen where you need to type the contact details – like name, phone number, etc. – you will see the default account listed at the top.

Tap on the default account to see the list of accounts on your phone. Select the account where you want to save the contact.

By default, your new contacts are saved to your iCloud account, as it is the first account added to your iPhone. To save to Google or another account, follow these steps:

Open “Settings” on your iPhone or iPad.

Go to “Contacts.”

Tap on “Default Account” and choose the desired account to store new contacts.

You won’t see the Default account option inside Contacts if no other account (Google, Outlook, etc.) was added to your iPhone. Also, it’s necessary to sync contacts from that account to your iPhone in order to make it the default account. We’ll show you how you can do both things so you can fix the “Default Account” not showing up in Settings.

Go to “Settings → Contacts → Accounts.”

If one or more accounts other than iCloud have already been added, tap on the account you want to set as default and enable the Contacts toggle on the following screen.

Once enabled, go back to “Settings → Contacts.” If the “Default account” option appears, tap on it.

Transfer Contacts From Android To Iphone The Easy Way

Moving all contacts from an Android to an iPhone may sound complicated, but it’s actually really easy. What you’ll need to do is sync the entire address book from the Android device to Google’s cloud Contacts service, and then use Google Contacts service to transfer them to the iPhone. The result is that you’ll have the same contact list synced between both devices, which is great for permanent migration and transferring the contacts over to iOS, but also for temporary transitions between the two mobile operating systems.

Requirements are simple enough: you’ll need access to the Android device and an iPhone. You will also need a Google account to be able to do this, which if you have an Android phone you almost certainly already have a google login. Nonetheless, if you don’t you can create one during the process to sync all the contact information to, which can then be retrieved from iOS. We’re focusing on Android smartphones and the iPhone, but this process would work the same with Android tablets and the iPad or iPod touch too.

This step is done from the Android, and will transfer the contacts from the Android to Google:

Open Settings, then go to “Accounts & Sync”, and ten tap on the Google account (side note: if you don’t have a Google account, tap on “Add Account” to set up a new one for this purpose)

Tap on “Sync Contacts” (or Sync All if you want to sync everything) and let the syncing process complete, this may take a few minutes if you have a very large address book

Now that the contacts have been synced between Android phone to Google’s servers, you can now sync the same contacts from Google to the iPhone.

This is done from the iPhone, and will transfer the contacts from Google to the iPhone:

Open “Settings” then go to “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” and choose “Add Account”

Select “Other” and look under “Contacts” to choose “Add CardDav Account”

Enter the following details into the fields, then tap “Next”

Password: your password

Syncing starts immediately, exit out of Settings and launch the “Contacts” app to check on the progress, the entire process may take a while for large address books

That’s really all there is to it, it works the same on all versions of iOS and has been tested in both iOS 6 and iOS 7.

If you run into any syncing issues on the iPhone, go back into Settings for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, and check to be sure that the account syncing settings are configured to use SSL with port 443. This usually happens by default with auto detection, but it’s not unheard of for those settings to not set themselves properly.

Because the iPhone and Android are now synced to the same Google Contacts service, any changes on either device will sync over to the other, preventing you from having to make changes to each device unless one has been disconnected. This means the same trick can be used to move contacts back from the iPhone to Android, though there are other ways to do that as well, including using the very handy iCloud Contacts exporter service, or for just sharing individual contacts as a Vcard. Finally, if you’re an OS X user you can also sync everything else, like mail, calendars, and even notes between a Mac and Android too.

However, it comes with Microsoft’s Bing as the default search engine, something that doesn’t seem to be a popular choice for many. So if you’re one of those who want to use a different search provider, you’ve come to the right place. Because today, we’ll discuss how to change default search engine in Microsoft Edge on Windows, Mac, Android and iOS.

You can change the default search engine in Microsoft Edge easily on all leading mobile and desktop platforms. Like Google Chrome, Microsoft’s new web browser also supports any search provider that uses OpenSearch. Given that all leading search providers support the technology, you should easily be able to change from Bing to Google, DuckDuckGo, Startpage etc. on all platforms.

While I’m using Windows for this tutorial, the process of changing the default search engine in Edge is the same in Windows and Mac. Also note that this article is for the new Microsoft Edge Chromium. If you’re still using the legacy Edge, you should immediately update to the new version (download) for enhanced security and additional features.

To change your default search engine in Microsoft Edge Chromium, first copy+paste edge://settings/search into the address bar and hit Enter.

That’s it! You’ve now successfully changed Microsoft Edge default search on Windows or Mac.

You can also add a new search engine to Edge Chromium. Here’s how you do it:

There’s also an easier way to add a search engine in Edge. For that, first open the browser and go to the search engine of your choice (google.in, chúng tôi etc).

However, unlike on computers, you can only set the search engine in the mobile apps to either Google, Yahoo or DuckDuckGo, alongside the default Bing. Unfortunately, there’s no option to add more Search Engines on either Android or iOS. Be that as it may, here’s how you change default search engine in Edge on Android:

Launch the Microsoft Edge Android app. Now tap on the ‘Menu’ button (three dots) at the bottom and select ‘Settings’ from the popup pane.

In the Settings page, scroll down and hit ‘Search’ under the ‘Advanced’ section. Now select the ‘Default search engine’ option (it is set to ‘Bing’ by default).

You can choose any alternative search engine like Google, Yahoo or DuckDuckGo. I chose the last one, and it is now my default search provider on Edge in Android.

Open Edge and tap on the ‘Menu’ button (three dots) at the bottom of the screen. Now select ‘Settings’ from the popup pane.

Now go to ‘Advanced Settings’ and select ‘Search Engine’.

Here, tap on Others to see options for default search, including Google and DuckDuckGo. Select the search engine that you want. That’s it! You’ve now successfully changed search engine in Microsoft Edge on iOS.

Note: If you don’t see DuckDuckGo as an option, make a manual search on DuckDuckgo and then it will appear in the list.

Now that you know how to change your default search provider in Edge, you’re probably itching to make the switch from Bing to Google. While Google will be the obvious choice for most users, I suggest you pick a more privacy-focused service like DuckDuckGo or Startpage. You can change your fitness goals on your Apple Watch in addition to your iPhone. The updated goals sync with the Apple Watch Activity app, so open Activity to get started.

Make sure you’re on the main Activity screen which is the one displaying your rings at the top. If you see a different screen, swipe from left to right until you see your rings.

You’ll see each of your three goals in the same order as in Fitness on iPhone. If you don’t want to adjust the goal you see, simply tap the button at the bottom to go to the next one.
