Windows 10 is a great operating system for business use. If you’re holding a business meeting, or some other kind of a presentation, a projector is a must.

So, in this article, we’ll show you how to connect a projector to a computer or laptop running Windows 10.

What do I need in order to connect my projector?

To be able to connect a projector to your computer, it has to have a video output port. Old laptops used to have a VGA (D-Sub) port but nowadays you will have an HDMI or DisplayPort connector.

And these ports must match the projector’s. If not, you will need converter cables or ports to transform the different standards.

After you connect your projector to your computer, you will need to set up the drivers for the video projector.

Usually, the new video projectors are plug-and-play. That means they will be identified automatically and work immediately after being connected.

Older projectors might come with a CD/DVD media with dedicated software and drivers. If you have lost the support, you need to identify the name of the manufacturer and model number, then visit the manufacturer’s website and download the appropriate software.

How do I connect my Windows laptop to a projector? 1. How to connect your projector to a Windows 10 computer 2. How to connect a laptop to a projector using HDMI to VGA cable

What if the technical configuration available forces you to connect your computer to a projector using an HDMI to VGA cable? How do you connect a laptop that has no VGA port to a projector?

If one of your devices has an HDMI port, while the other sports only a VGA port, then you’ll need an HDMI to VGA converter to connect your laptop to your projector.

Expert tip:

3. How to connect a projector via wireless display

It is worth mentioning that you don’t need a cable to connect your Windows 10 computer to a projector. If both devices support Miracast, you can simply select the option ‘Connect to a wireless display’ choose a projector and then the projector will mirror your computer’s screen.

Speaking of Miracast, we have dedicated a series of articles to this tool. Check them out to better understand what Miracast is, how to use it and how to fix various issues that may occur during usage:

4. Connect your computer to a projector on Bluetooth

Of course, if both your computer and projector support Bluetooth technology, you can also use this method to connect the two.

What do I do if Windows 10 doesn’t recognize my projector?

If Windows 10 doesn’t recognize or detect your projector, there is probably a problem with the connection itself or the drivers.

Make sure that you connected the projector to the correct port in the PC or laptop and if you’re using a converter, test it to see if it works with another video device such as an external monitor.

If the connection is not the problem, check if you have the correct drivers installed for the projector.

Alright, so this is how you can get your computer to display on a projector and also fix potential issues along the way.

How To Connect Phone To Projector

Mirroring your phone screen through a projector is really easy if you have the necessary tools. The technology has been around for a while, and you can connect just about any modern-day phone to a projector.

This feature is especially useful when you need to show your phone’s content to a big audience, like watching movies with friends or giving a PowerPoint presentation. Furthermore, you can do this just about anywhere with a portable projector.

If you want to know how you can connect your phone to a projector, we have covered all the necessary information in this article.

There are mainly two ways you can connect your phone with a projector. You can do it with a wired cable or wireless broadcasting features like Wi-Fi direct or Airplay.

The best thing about wired connections is the speed and video quality it offers. Some cables can handle up to 4k resolution videos, and you will rarely experience any lag or buffering in the video.

Almost all of the phones available today support either of three different types of ports. Older Android phones use micro USB ports, while newer ones support USB Type-C, and all iOS devices use the lightning port.

Depending on these three different ports, you need compatible cables and adapters to connect your phone to a projector.

While MHL cables may confuse you, they are Micro USB to HDMI cables. As micro USB ports didn’t support video transfer through its cable, MHL technology was used to make it possible.

If your phone has a MicroUSB port, you have to use this cable to connect your phone to a projector. Additionally, if you have a really old phone with a micro USB that doesn’t support MHL, your phone might have trouble connecting to a projector with a wired connection.

Furthermore, MHL supports transfer of videos up to 1080p resolution and up to 2.25Gbps bandwidth. However, before getting an MHL cable, you should consider its two types and which one is appropriate for you.

Active MHL Cable

An active MHL cable has a MicroUSB head, an HDMI head, and a USB head. The other USB head can be plugged into an adapter or charge outlet to power your phone to support the connection between it and the projector. It also charges your phone while doing so.

Most older phones require power to support the projector and your phone’s connection. If you have a phone that came out after 2023, your phone should be able to handle the connection with the projector without additional power.

For the HDMI head, almost every projector with an HDMI input port should support an active MHL cable.

Passive MHL Cable

A passive MHL cable only has a micro USB head and an HDMI head. In this cable, the power is sent directly from the projector through the HDMI port to your phone.

However, not every projector supports passive MHL cables. Regular HDMI ports aren’t designed to output power, as you will need specific MHL ports that support a passive MHL cable.

For android phones with Type-C ports, you can use a Type-C to HDMI adapter to connect your phone to the projector. You can plug in the Type-C head to your phone and the HDMI head to the HDMI input port in your projector.

After ensuring your projector is set to the right channel, your phone’s content should be displayed through the projector.

With USB C to HDMI cable, it can support sending videos up to 4k resolutions and bandwidths up to 18Gbps. However, unlike MHL, you can not charge your phone while being connected through this cable.

A Lightning to HDMI adapter works similarly to USB-C to HDMI adapter. You can connect the lightning end to your iOS device and the HDMI to your projector’s input port.

After setting up your projector, your screen’s content should be displayed from the projector.

USB C to USB C can also be used to connect your phone to your projector. However, you need to ensure that your phone has a Type-C port and your projector supports USB-C as input.

If you meet the requirements, this is the easiest method to set up your phone and projector. Connect your devices, and your projector should start mirroring the phone screen.

Like USB C to HDMI, this cable also supports video transfer of up to 4k resolutions. It also charges your phone while being connected.

Note: Some USB C to USB C cables, like macbook charger cables, are charge only, and they do not support sending video through it.

While HDMI connectors have replaced VGA connectors, some projectors still use VGA ports for input. In this case, you can use VGA adapters similar to the HDMI adapters mentioned above.

You can use a USB-C to VGA adapter for Android with a Type-C port. For Android with MicroUSB, you can use MHL to VGA adapter. For iOS devices, you can use lightning to VGA adapters.

You can also connect your phone to a projector wirelessly, and there are several methods you can go about it. Some projectors support connection over Wi-Fi connection, and some can even stream your screen through Bluetooth.

Many projectors nowadays support wireless connection with mobile through Wi-Fi direct. If you do have this kind of projector, you can connect to any android phone that has Wi-Fi direct capabilities.

Follow the steps below to do so:

Enable the screen mirroring option or switch depending on your projector. (If you can’t find it, look in the projector’s manufacturer’s website or instructions manual.)

Open settings in your phone.

For iOS devices, you can use Airplay to display your phone’s content through a projector. However, your projector also has to have wireless capabilities for this to work.

Enable screen mirroring option in your projector. (It can either be a physical button or a menu option.)

Launch Settings on your iOS device.

If it asks for a password, it should be displayed by the projector.

Select your projector.

Toggle on Mirroring. (Some devices may not require this step.)

If you have a projector that supports input through Bluetooth, you only need to pair the devices in Bluetooth mode to connect your phone to the projector.

Follow the steps below to do so:

Pair the devices.

Miracast is a wireless technology with which you can share the contents of one screen with other display devices. It builds upon the Wi-FI Direct feature in android and facilitates a smoother connection between your phone and the display device.

Android used to have Miracast integrated into them till the Android 5 Lollipop version. While Miracast is no longer integrated into Android, tons of third-party apps still use the technology to cast a phone’s screen content to another device.

Some of the applications that use Miracast technology are Miracast – Wifi Display, Miracast Screen Sharing, and EZMira. As Miracast is based on Wi-Fi Direct, they are similar in fashion with how they work.

Another method to connect your phone to a projector is through a Chromecast or other similar device. It usually comes with a wireless dongle you can plug into the projector.

After doing so, you can connect wirelessly with the Chromecast to start sharing your phone’s content with your projector.

Some projectors have their own applications developed by the manufacturer for connecting to smartphones. If your projector does have one, you can use that application to connect your phone to your projector.

How To Set A Windows 10 Default Printer

If you have multiple printers, including PDF printers, you might have one you use more often. To save time, it’s a good idea to set a Windows 10 default printer so that you only have to change the printer when you want to use something different.

Occasionally, Windows likes to take over, though, and change your default printer for you. Luckily, there’s also a way around this to ensure the default you set is the one that stays in place.

Disable Windows Printer Management

A large part of Windows 10 is focused on doing things automatically for the end user, including choosing the Windows 10 default printer. Windows may automatically assume that the new printer you just installed should be the default instead of the original printer that you plan to keep using most often.

Before choosing a default manually, you have to disable this setting. Go to Start and type “Printers & Scanners.” Select the settings option that appears.

Scroll until you see the option “Let Windows manage my default printer.” Uncheck this box if it’s checked.

Set Your Windows 10 Default Printer

Now that Windows isn’t managing your printer for you, you’re able to set a default of your choosing. Open the Printers & Scanners settings window again.

You’ll see a list of all currently installed printers. You can also add a new printer using the “Add a printer or scanner option” at the top of the list. You’ll need to add a new printer before you’re able to set it as your default. If you’re having trouble adding a Wi-Fi printer, you may need to physically connect it the first time.

You can change your default at any time. Also, you’re free to choose any other printer you want when you print something. You’ll just need to manually choose the printer in the app you’re using versus simply hitting print or using a keyboard shortcut to print. Those options won’t change your default settings.

Windows 10 Default Printer Changes Itself

If you suddenly discover your Windows 10 default printer has changed, there are several reasons. The most common is a new Windows update. There are almost always a variety of issues when new updates are released, including changing Windows settings.

Check to see if the “Let Windows manage my default printer” is checked. If so, uncheck it and reset your default printer.

A final issue may occur when you install a new printer. New printers want to be the default. The installation process, especially when using software to install, may change your default for you. If using the printer software to install, there may be an option to set the printer as your default. Check it if you want the printer to be your Windows 10 default printer and uncheck it if you don’t.

Outside of the issues above, your default printer should stay set. Now, when you hit the Print button, your documents should be sent directly to your chosen printer. If you are stuck in the “Print queue,” here is how to clear the queue. If you have a Network Printer and have difficulty finding its IP address, we have a fix here.

How To Connect Airpods To Peloton

Last Updated on September 20, 2023

Most people like to listen to music when they work out. Some people like to listen to podcasts or even watch films instead. It makes the time go faster and it makes sweating out and burning those calories off fun!

Perhaps you work out a lot with a Peloton, be it at home or at a class at the gym.

Maybe you’re just beginning your Peloton journey and you want to listen to some music while you do that… but you’ve hit a bit of a wall in working out how to connect your AirPods to the Peloton, and that’s ruining the experience for you.

Well, don’t worry! In this article, we will tell you exactly what you need to do in order to get your AirPods connected to the Peloton, so you can listen while you exercise and enjoy your session.

Connecting AirPods To A Peloton

Connecting your AirPods to a peloton couldn’t be easier thanks to Bluetooth. Just follow the steps below and you’ll be connected in no time at all:

Settings Display

First, you want to tap on the settings display on your Peloton.

Bluetooth Audio

Second, you want to tap on the Bluetooth Audio.

Hold Button On The Back Of The Case

Make sure the Airpods are in their charging case.

Make sure the lid is open and hold the button on the back of the case for about 3 to 5 seconds.

Stop Holding The Button

Stop holding the button when the status light starts to flash and then close the lid.

Connect Airpods To Peloton

Check the list of Bluetooth devices on the Peloton, find the AirPods, and tap Connect.

Check Connection

To make sure the sound is actually coming from the AirPods, take a test ride on the Peloton.

After you’ve done the final step, give it a moment and your AirPods and Peloton will be paired. In the future, whenever you open the case, the AirPods will connect automatically.

Keep in mind that you cannot use Siri when the Airpods are connected.

Note: In step 4, if you are using AirPod Max headphones, press and hold the noise cancellation button until the status light flashes instead.

If your AirPods don’t connect, don’t worry! Most reasons why they aren’t connecting are really simple to sort out.

Here are a few reasons why this might be happening:

First, your AirPods might be connected to another device already. It could be as simple as you haven’t disconnected them from your phone. Turn the Bluetooth off on your phone or disconnect the AirPods from it and try the steps again.

Make sure the Bluetooth on the Peloton is actually on before you try connecting and make sure the Peloton isn’t connected to something else.

Some Bluetooth devices may need to reset before they sync to the Peloton or the touchscreen. So you may need to reset and reconnect a second time before it works.

Make sure your AirPod case is charged or you may have issues connecting.

You might need to reset your AirPods, so if nothing else seems to work, give this option a try.

Connecting your AirPods to your Peloton is luckily a really easy process and you don’t have to worry about spending too much time pairing the two together.

If you’re having trouble connecting, remember to check the troubleshooting section for anything you might have missed in the setup process.

Sometimes it can be as simple as you’ve forgotten to disconnect your AirPods from your Bluetooth on your phone!

With the 7 easy steps listed above, you will be exercising with your favorite music, podcast, or film/tv show in no time!

When you’ve got the right audio at your disposal, exercising becomes fun and motivating!

How To Multitask In Windows 10 Like A Pro

Multitasking has grown so much into us that we have actually forgotten that we are doing it. Any veteran Windows user would be impressed with how much Windows 10 has improved starting from Windows 95. Not only managing multiple apps are now much easier, but you get to see a live preview of all of your windows.

Multitasking in Windows 10

In this post, I am talking you some tips, on how you can beautifully manage your multiple windows, multitask in a number of ways, and save a lot of time & be more productive in tight situations.

1. Task View instead of ALT + TAB

Using ALT + TAB / SHIFT + ALT + TAB had been used from ages. While they are good at letting you switch between next, and previous tabs, if you have like ten to fifteen windows open, you will end up putting up more time to find out the window you want to switch. Not to forget that as the number of open windows increases, the size of the title text for each tab reduces as well.

When using Windows 10, using Task View is a better idea. It gives you a graphical view of all open apps in one zoomed-in rectangle along with a preview of each window. You can select the one you want to switch, and it switches instantly. This is how it looks:

You can invoke Task view either by using Windows+Tab together or look for the stacked rectangles right next to the Cortana search box in the taskbar.

2. Do not have a Second Monitor? Use Virtual Desktops

Using multiple monitors is one of the best ways to do multitasking. Not only you get to see more, but you can also run a number of apps that one display can handle. But then not everybody wants a second display, and if you are the kind of person who is on the move with a laptop, the secondary monitor is out of the question.

Windows 10 offers Virtual Desktops, where you can create virtually any number of desktops. You get access to Taskbar, Start Menu, and so on.

To create a Virtual Desktop, press the Task View button on the taskbar or use Windows + Tab. This will show the list of the running apps and the option of “New Desktop” with a plus sign on the bottom right.

Now, you can create any number of desktops, one after the other, and it will look like this.

The Windows + Tab / Task View displays both virtual desktops, and a preview of windows in each desktop as you hover over them.

Lastly, if you want to switch between the virtual desktops, use the keyboard shortcuts Windows Key + Ctrl + Left and Windows Key + Ctrl + Right Arrow.

Note: If you close any of the virtual desktops, all windows of that Desktop will become available in Desktop One.

3. Stack Windows Side by Side with Snap Assist

If you want to use a couple of windows side by side, Windows 10 comes with native support for Multitasking. Using the Snap Assist feature, you can drag one window to the complete left, unless you get to see a transparent dock-like thing where the windows can stick themselves. You can stack up to 4 windows side by side just like how it looks in the image below:

This is very handy when you need to look at one window and note or analyze in a second. Windows 10 offers an inbuilt setting for multitasking which you can search in the Settings App, and it offers the following options:

These settings are enabled by default, but if you want to change the behavior of Snap Assistant, you can change it here. Say, for example, I don’t like windows to resize when I am resizing one of the windows.

You can snap up to 4 windows like this, and while they happen automatically, you can always resize them for the best fit.

4. You can also Scroll Inactive Windows!

Many times, you have a second window that has a lot of data, and you need to scroll. Windows 10 lets you scroll such windows without actually switching to them by using Scroll Inactive Windows.

Read: AltPlusTab lets you customize Alt+Tab menu.

5. Love Watching Videos when working? Mini Player is here to help

When I work, I usually have a video playing in the background. It helps if you are working alone most of the time. Windows 10 Movies & TV app come with a “Mini View” option which used to be there in Windows Media Player. This option is available right next to the full-screen button on the app. You can always resize the way you want.

These are most of the things I use when multitasking on my Windows 10 PC.
