Biometric  authentication systems like Windows Hello, Fingerprint scanner, etc., are being promoted in Windows 10. These biometric systems help you quickly and securely log in to your system and perform various activities. Obviously, this eliminates the need for creating and remembering complex passwords. As good as it is, under some circumstances, these biometric systems can be a victim of spoofing compromising your security. To eliminate this, Windows 10 included a new feature called Enhanced Anti-Spoofing that acts as a countermeasure for any unauthorized access via spoofing. This article discusses how to enable it.

Note: when enabled, this new feature will only work with devices that support anti-spoofing technology. If your device doesn’t support anti-spoofing, then enabling it does nothing.

Enable Enhanced Anti-Spoofing Using the Registry

To enable the enhanced anti-spoofing feature, add a new registry value. To do that, press “Win + R,” type regedit and press the Enter button.

The above action will open the Windows Registry Editor. Here, navigate to the following key:

Name the newly created key “FacialFeatures” and press the Enter button to save the name.

This action will create a new DWORD value. Rename the newly-created value “EnhancedAntiSpoofing.” This is how it looks once you rename it.

If you ever want to disable the enhanced anti-spoofing, simply change the value data back to “0.”

Enable Enhanced Anti-Spoofing Using Group Policy

If you are using the Pro or Enterprise version of Windows, you can do the same thing using the Group Policy Editor. There is no need to mess with Windows Registry. To start, press “Win + R,” type gpedit.msc and press the Enter button.

If you ever want to revert back, simply select the “Disabled” radio button or “Not Configured.”

How To Enable Xiaomi Enhanced Reading Mode

Enhanced reading mode is one of Xiaomi’s initiatives to make reading more pleasant by optimizing the device screen settings. In non-Xiaomi smart devices, this feature goes by names such as Eye Care, Reader View, or Automatic Reading Mode. Reading mode became popular in smartphones within the past decade as a means of improving user experience.

Xiaomi’s enhanced reading mode can be used while reading eBooks, browsing social media pages, chatting with friends, reading the news, etc. Xiaomi’s friendly, easy-to-use user interface helps you access the reading mode feature without a problem.

In the yet-to-be-released MIUI 12, there are rumors of an enhanced reading mode similar to an e-ink display.

Who Is Xiaomi?

In case you haven’t heard about the company or product, Xiaomi is synonymous with Xiaomi Corporation, an electronics company headquartered in Beijing, China. Xiaomi offers products ranging from smartphones, laptops, fitness bands, and smart shoes, to name a few. Xiaomi is the fourth-largest market share in the smartphone industry, just behind smartphone giants Samsung, Apple, and Huawei.

Why is Enhanced Reading Mode Used?

In the era of portable smart devices, users find it more convenient to have information on the go, making more and more people read on their phones and tablets. Enhanced reading mode is employed in smart devices for the following reasons:

To ensure that the user can read for more extended periods.

Enhanced reading mode ensures that colors are warmer to reduce eye strain.

To reduce eye fatigue.

Eye strain and headaches resulting from screen glare are common among those who work with computer or smartphone screens.

To act as an inhibitor of blue light.

Blue light is a visible spectrum of light ranging from 380nm to 550nm. Blue light exposure hampers the production of melatonin, a sleep-inducing hormone. It can negatively impact a user’s sleep cycle. Prolonged exposure to blue light at close range can also lead to age-related eye problems, such as macular degeneration. Macular degeneration may lead to vision loss if not remedied.

To improve readability by focusing on the content the user wants without distractions.

How to Enable Enhanced Reading Mode

Xiaomi offers an enhanced reading mode for a reason: to protect your eyes and make reading comfortable for you. So let’s set it up, shall we?

Step 1

Power on your Xiaomi device by pressing and holding the power button. You can skip this step your device is already on.

Step 2

Navigate to the Applications menu and select Settings. The Settings menu can also be accessed by swiping down from the top of the screen.

Step 3 Step 4

Within the display, navigate to the Screen group. The Screen group has four tabs, namely:

Brightness Level

Reading mode

Colour scheme and

Dark mode

Dark mode makes use of a darker color palette for compatible apps and system backgrounds. It can also help relieve eye strain when the device is being used in dark places or at night. Like Reading mode, the status is displayed by the right side of the tab.

For now, let’s continue to focus on Reading mode.

Step 5

On the Reading Mode page, you can schedule a time to turn it on and off. You can choose to turn on Reading mode every day at sunset by selecting the Good night’s read option. If using Good night’s read, the display will revert at sunrise to its initial brightness.

To manually customize the time, select Custom period.

Just below these options are a brightness bar that can be adjusted to your preferred brightness setting.

Protect Your Eyes Without Enhanced Reading Mode

For general protection against eye strain and fatigue, especially while using computers or smartphones, you can:

Cover the screen with an anti-glare filter

Install trusted eye care or reading mode app

Wear anti-glare glasses (polarized lenses or lenses with color coating)

Dim the lights around the office or at home (fluorescent lights are a common source of blue light)

Adjust your TV or computer’s brightness and contrast

Remember to go for an annual eye examination

Practice the 20-20-20 rule. Look away from the computer or TV screen at least every 20 minutes at an object at least 20′ away, for 20 seconds.

Final Verdict

If your Xiaomi offers you a Reading Mode feature, make use of it by turning it on. It will protect your eyes in the long run. You can also encourage your friends and family who don’t use Reading Mode on their devices to do so as well.

How To Enable Chatgpt Web Browsing And Plugins

ChatGPT was launched in November 2023 and gained huge popularity soon after its launch. It has several incredible features, but developers are still working to improve it and make it a more exciting AI tool.

The ChatGPT web browsing and plugins feature is the most recent ChatGPT update. This feature allows ChatGPT to access the internet and adds third-party features to the chatbot.

Open AI has launched two plugins itself, along with third-party plugins like Kayak, Zapier, Instacart, and many more. Currently, the ChatGPT web browsing and plugins features are accessible by Plus members only.

Besides, you don’t need to join the waitlist to use ChatGPT plugins. Read this guide to learn more about how to enable ChatGPT web browsing and plugins as a Plus member.

How to Enable Web Browsing and Plugins in ChatGPT

The ChatGPT web browsing and plugin feature is exclusively available for ChatGPT Plus members. If you don’t have a premium account, you first need to purchase the Plus plan for $20 per month.

After upgrading your account, you can add different plugins to your account by enabling the option in ChatGPT settings.

Follow the steps below to enable web browsing and ChatGPT plugins:

Step 2: Navigate to the Settings page from the left-side menu of your dashboard.

Step 4: Turn on the web browsing and Plugins features by toggling the button next to them.

Step 5: Hit the New Chat option.

Step 7: Select your preferred mode (Default, Browsing, and Plugins) from the list.

How to Use Web Browsing in ChatGPT

Like plugins, you need to separately enable the web browsing feature to access it within ChatGPT. Below are the steps to enable web browsing in ChatGPT:

Step 1: Enable the web browsing feature as mentioned earlier in this guide.

Step 3: Switch to the GPT-4 model and enable the Beta Browsing option from the list.

Step 4: Ask ChatGPT a question that requires the internet to answer. For example, ask it about an ongoing event. ChatGPT will browse the internet while generating the response and also show the search terms or keywords it uses.

Step 5: Finally, the chatbot displays the results on your screen after referring to multiple websites.

When Should You Use ChatGPT Web Browsing?

You must be wondering, “Why use ChatGPT for internet browsing when you have search engines like Google Chrome, Safari, Bing, FireFox, etc.?”

Well, you can use search engines to browse the internet most of the time. But when you want real-time or the latest information from ChatGPT, the web browsing feature becomes handy.

Remember, ChatGPT’s database was last updated in 2023. When ChatGPT generates a response, it refers to its training database and gives responses based on that information. These responses can be right, but they lack recent information.

In short, if you want the latest news or information about current world trends, the web browsing feature can give you such responses. It saves you from visiting any web browser while using ChatGPT.

You can use it to brainstorm ideas, conduct research for blog post content, create a travel itinerary, research competitors, and network.

How to Install ChatGPT Plugins

You must first install plugins in ChatGPT to start using them. So, the next step after enabling ChatGPT plugins is to install the required plugins.

Follow these steps to install ChatGPT plugins:

Step 1: After completing the steps to enable ChatGPT Plugins (explained in the previous section), you will see the No Plugins Enabled label on your screen.

How to Use Plugins in ChatGPT

ChatGPT won’t use the installed plugins directly to generate responses. It will use plugins when you instruct it to by writing appropriate commands.

For example, if you want ChatGPT to use the Open Table plugin to find a hotel in your locality and check for available reservations, you have to write a relevant command. Then wait for ChatGPT to do the research and display the results on your screen.

When Should You Use ChatGPT Plugins?

Plugins are typically third-party apps that make ChatGPT a more useful platform. They add additional features to ChatGPT, allowing it to perform activities that it would otherwise not perform.

They make third-party functionalities accessible within the ChatGPT interface without having to perform additional steps.

For example, the Wolfram plugin allows ChatGPT to accurately perform computations. You can use plugins whenever you want to access third-party features from ChatGPT without switching apps.
