The app makes the mundane takes of cleaning up the Mac’s storage easy and fun by giving your a nice visual breakdown on your disk space in the form of an interactive heat map. In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to reveal the biggest space wasters with DaisyDisk so you can remove them and free up some additional storage on your Mac.
How to identify large files on your Mac with DaisyDiskFirst of all, you will need to download DaisyDisk, which is available for $9.99 in the Mac App Store. Or, download a free trial directly from the official website.
Upon launching the app, just drag a disk icon from the desktop and drop it onto the DaisyDisk window. If you drop your boot volume, you may be prompted to type in your administrator password in order to give the app permission to use the disk.
You’ll get a great visual breakdown of the disk’s free and used space with all of your files and folders. The circular chart is interactive and updated in real time so it always reflects the true amount of free and used storage on the computer.
The app is incredibly fast: my mid-2013 MacBook Air’s 256GB SSD is half-full and it took DaisyDisk just a few seconds to fully scan its folder hierarchy and display the interactive file map. As you hover the mouse pointer over different sections of the chart, the appropriate folder is highlighted in the righthand column.
The app’s interface couldn’t be simpler and it lets you identify and then dive into the largest folders and visually peruse the contents of your Mac. When you identify a folder that’s taking up a significant amount of storage, you can drag it in the lower left corner of the app’s window to collect it.
DaisyDisk has helped me realize that I have more than 60 gigabytes of usable storage locked in the Mac’s Trashcan, which I haven’t emptied in a while. I also learned that various application caches inside the system’s Library folder are taking up more than three gigabytes of storage.
After collecting files that you’d like to delete, you can then empty the app’s built-in collection bin to permanently delete those items and free up storage space that was lost to these items. Don’t worry, DaisyDisk has built-in safeguards preventing your from deleting system files by accident.
Final thoughtsLast but not least, this app integrates OS X’s QuickLook feature—just select a file and press Space on the keyboard to preview it quickly, and can scan multiple disks in parallel at maximum speed.
I think it’s an easy-to-use utility with its unique circular overview of the storage hogs that does a terrific job of identifying unneeded and useless file you may have forgotten about, helping you free up your Mac’s storage in no time.

How To Identify Fake Android Apps On The Play Store
Unfortunately, malicious developers also realise the amount of trust users have in the Play Store. Their plan is to put a very close lookalike of official apps onto the Play Store, then sneak malicious code into it that can dodge the Play Store’s security checks. Innocent users think they’re downloading an official app end up getting something far worse!
But how do you identify an app that’s trying to impersonate a real one?
1. Strange App NameFor one, make sure that the app shares the same name as the one you think you’re getting. One of the more successful fake app scams was over an app called “Update WhatsApp Messenger.” If you take some time to look at this app in a vacuum, you’ll see how suspicious it is. Why is an update being published on the app store this way rather than just updating the app? The idea is that people won’t pay much attention to the name; they’ll just see the word “WhatsApp” and the official logo and queue it up for download without checking the details. Always double-check to see if you’re getting the right app.
2. Strange Developer NameLikewise, the developer may be different from the one you’re expecting. If you can search online for the official developer’s name, this step becomes easier. If the developer name for the app doesn’t match what’s on the official site, you have a scam on your hands. This can get very tricky; as per the WhatsApp article above, the developer name will be identical to the official developer’s name, except an “invisible” whitespace character is added to the end to make it different. Still, exercise caution with the developer name and don’t download anything with a suspicious name.
3. See What People Are SayingBe sure to check the reviews of a potentially fake app. Don’t expect all-negative reviews, however; part of a fake app’s disguise is to get fake five-star reviews to boost its credentials. Instead, look for what the negative reviews are saying. If they’re saying the app is fake and doesn’t do as it says it does, beware!
4. Check the Download Count How Are They Sneaking Through?Now that you know what a fake app looks like, the question remains; how are these apps even making it onto the app store in the first place?
In terms of dodging Play Store’s malware detectors, developers have found ways to make their apps become malware after being uploaded to the Play Store. This is typically done by uploading a malware-free app with the capacity to talk to a third-party server. This in itself isn’t malware, which allows the app to skirt under security. As for an obviously-fake app getting onto the store in the first place, this may just mean that more needs to be done to control fake apps being uploaded.

Let’s discuss a scenario of a company where no formal project management processes is in place. A company which believes more on manpower rather than processes. For example, it is a construction company and recently won a tender to construct a flyover in a busy road in the city.
That’s a great news for the company, the company grabs the work order from the mouths of its competitors and jumped to start making the flyover. They informed the architects, engineers and the workers to start the work. Everyone planned their work as usual. The architects draw their diagrams, and the engineers made their plan. So finally the work begins and in few days some of the pillars of the flyover were stood. So everything was going well and as expected.
Suddenly, a person filed a lawsuit in the local court to stop the work. And the work stops as per the court order. What!! Why? Why it happened? And what will happen, if the work wont starts again, a lot of money already spent on it?
So, what happened here? While planning everything in the beginning, the company missed to take consent of a person whose balcony is coming on the way of the flyover.
This is a simple example of managing the project without following the project management processes. And the simple solution to this problems is, If an organization honestly follows all the processes, and practice each steps and phases religiously then this type of thing will never happen in the first place.
Does the project Management processes helps here? Yes, of course it helps. One of the important aspects of project initiation is identification of stakeholders. All the stakeholders should be identified and taken into consideration while preparing the charter.
At the beginnings, when the project is about to start, the first and foremost job is to prepare the Project Charter. And one of the important parts of project charter is the identification of stakeholders. For any successful business, it is important to identify and manage our stakeholders. We initiate the project for them, plan accordingly as per their requirements, execute and implement as per their needs and finally delivers it for their use.
Who are our Stakeholders?So, who are those stakeholders? For any standard software projects, we generally think that the client is the sole stakeholder. But that is not true, the stakeholders are the people, groups and organizations who could impact or be impacted by the outcome of the products. They can influence the project in either way. For a constructions project, even the local people in and around the construction site are also the stakeholders including the government agencies, builder, contractor, laborer etc. Because initially it may look like they are not related, but in a given day, if they impacted in any way they can halt your construction or demand something which can derail your plan.
How to Manage your Stakeholders?For every project, the stakeholders take an important role. They can influence the project either in a positive or negative way. Some of the stakeholders have limited ability to influence the project while some has the ability to derail the project in a given day. So, managing the stakeholders based on their influencing ability can result in the success or failure of the project. That is the job of the Project Manager to correctly identify all the stakeholders and then effectively manage them through out the project.
To manage our stakeholders in a better way, we need to put our energy and attention mostly on four processes:
Identify your StakeholdersNever ever miss or ignore a stakeholder based on his/her current position or impact on your project. Who knows when the table turned on other way and he becomes an important decision maker which can affect your project. Most important here is document the requirements from all your stakeholders. Later you can decide what can be taken and what not, based on your engagement with them. The identification of the Stakeholders is a continuous process through out the project life cycle.
Prepare the list of the stakeholders by conducting discussions and meetings with Sponsors, Senior Managements. Take input from the project managers who had worked in the same type of projects earlier by conducting meetings with them; or from the lesson learned documents archived in organization repository. Also, do not forget to take the view of SME (Subject Matter Expert).
Plan to Manage themDevelop an appropriate strategy to manage your stakeholders throughout your project life cycle. In order to support the project’s interest, a clear and actionable plan should be at hand. The main motive is to maintain a relationship between the team and the stakeholders to fulfill their needs for the betterment of the project.
Manage and Communicate with themTo keep your stakeholders satisfied, to minimize the resistance, you need to work on effective communications with your stakeholders. They should be informed of the project statuses, any changes and issues. The important thing is that, do not hide, be honest and keep informed them. The project Managers may found some of the Stakeholders are resistant to change and may not be supported at times, that times the Managers convincing skills can play a effective role to engage those Stakeholders.
Control the Engagement with StakeholdersPlease don’t read it as you can control your stakeholder in any other way, it should be read as engage with them with proper strategies. Keep monitoring the relationship and adjust the strategies as per the current needs.
It is important to manage your stakeholders through out the project by keeping an eye on their needs and fulfill those requirements efficiently. As per PMBOK, a very handy and useful grid chart is called Power/Interest Grid.
Just Monitor the Stakeholders who has low power and low interest in the project
In case of, the Stakeholders has high power but low interest in the project, we need to keep them satisfied by sending them regular status updates. Normally they are senior management people and their main interest is to know the project health and profit margins
While, the Stakeholders with low power but high interest, we need to keep them informed regularly with project progress status.
The top in the grid are the Stakeholders who are high in both power and interest, take supreme care to them. For example, the senior customer representative having power to influence the project, we need to manage him carefully by fulfilling his needs.
It is important for the success of our project is to identify the stakeholders as early as possible and then manage them throughout the project life cycle.
So, once we identified the stakeholders by applying the required process and techniques, those information are one of the important input to our Project Charter. Similarly, another important input to the project charter is the information we retrieved from the statement of work (SOW).

How To Clear The Dns Cache On Your Iphone, Ipad & Mac
Is a stale DNS cache making your web browsing experience excruciatingly slow? If so, you may have thought about speeding things up by switching to an alternate domain name server on your device. In that case, you’ll need to clear the DNS cache on your device.
There are several ways to flush DNS caches in iOS and macOS, and this step-by-step tutorial covers them all! Here’s how to delete the DNS cache on your iPhone, iPad, Mac, and popular web browsers like Safari, Chrome, Opera, and Firefox.
The problem
If you cannot connect to some websites, a web page won’t load at all, or your network slows down randomly for no apparent reason, chances are your device’s DNS cache has become corrupted due to technical glitches, administrative accidents, or other reasons.
Aside from other reasons, the DNS cache may become polluted when unauthorized domain names or IP addresses are inserted via a network attack or malware/virus.
But worry not, resetting the DNS cache should help resolve those problems.
What is a DNS cache?
DNS, or “Domain Name System,” has been the staple of the Internet’s functionality since 1985.
In short, DNS is a decentralized naming system for devices connected to the Internet or a private network (VPN). The system assigns domain names to each of the devices while translating human-readable domain names like chúng tôi to the numerical IP addresses that identify services and devices with the underlying network protocols.
A DNS cache, also known as a DNS resolver cache, is a temporary database, a phone book of sorts, which helps speed up DNS lookups by storing records of all the recent network requests. Rather than having to memorize numerical IP addresses for your favorite websites, your device can tap into a cached table of recent DNS lookups to know how to load a web resource.
In other words, a DNS cache is just a memory of recent DNS lookups that your computer can quickly refer to when it’s trying to figure out how to load a website. A DNS cache is maintained by the operating system, but some browsers may keep their own DNS cache.
All caches can become corrupt over time, and that’s especially true with DNS caches. A corrupt DNS cache may lead to intermittent problems with loading websites. Therefore, clearing the DNS cache so it doesn’t hold invalid items is usually the best way to solve any such woes.
It is very important to stress that clearing the DNS cache won’t remove your browsing history, website data, saved passwords, or any other temporary Internet files that get saved to your device to speed up web page load times.
When and why should you clear DNS caches?
Here are a few common scenarios in which clearing the DNS cache may help.
Prevent DNS hijacking: This practice subverts the resolution of DNS queries, which can be achieved via malware or by modifying the behavior of a trusted DNS server to the point it no longer complies with Internet standards. Flushing your DNS cache minimizes the risk of DNS hijacking, which is a significant problem in China.
Resolve page-loading problems: Starting fresh is the best way of addressing situations when some websites won’t load, or web pages load slowly.
Enforce network settings change: If you’ve made changes to your device’s network settings, like adding a custom DNS as part of your VPN service, clearing out the DNS cache will make these changes take effect immediately without any further action.
Even if you’re not having any problems loading web pages whatsoever, clearing out a stale DNS cache won’t just make your web browsing experience hassle-free but will also clean up the valuable storage space in your device.
Your router has a DNS cache, too, meaning that any DNS troubleshooting steps should also include flushing the DNS cache on both the computer and the router.

How to clear DNS cache on iPhone and iPad
On iOS, you have three different ways of clearing the DNS cache. Firstly, you can toggle Airplane Mode on and then back off, which has the side effect of flushing the DNS cache. Secondly, you can simply reboot your device to achieve the same effect as the Airplane Mode method. And thirdly, dumping your network settings will also do the trick.
Use Airplane Mode
1) Open Control Center by swiping down from the upper-right corner of the screen on iPhone X or later or iPad with iOS 12 or later. On older devices or iOS versions, swipe up from the bottom edge to pull up the Control Center overlay.
2) Tap the Airplane Mode icon in the top-left corner of the Network Settings card.
When Airplane Mode is toggled on, the icon turns orange to denote that all cellular services are currently shut down, which will also prompt iOS to flush the system’s DNS cache.
3) After about 15 seconds, tap the Airplane Mode icon again to re-enable wireless services.
Reboot your iPhone or iPad
Restarting your device makes it fast and simple to flush the DNS cache.
1) Do the following:
On iPhone X and 2023 iPad Pro and newer: Press and hold the Side button and either volume button until the slider appears.
On older devices, like iPhone 8 and earlier: Hold down the Power button for a few seconds.
The Power button is also known as the Top button on iPod touch and iPad.

2) Swipe the slider labeled Slide to Power Off.
3) After the device shuts down and turns off, wait a few seconds, then press and hold the Side/Top/Power button again until you see the Apple logo. As a security precaution, when the device reboots, you’ll need to enter your passcode to re-enable Touch ID or Face ID.
Because rebooting takes more time than toggling the Airplane Mode on and then back off, this isn’t the best approach if you need to flush your DNS cache multiple times per day.
Note: Concerned about DNS hijacking? If so, this isn’t the safest method of flushing the DNS cache because the hijacking may occur immediately after the device reboots, before you even have the chance to connect to a VPN.
Network settings dump
Clearing the network settings on your device will also flush the system’s DNS cache.
1) Open Settings on your device.
2) Choose General from the list.
3) Tap Transfer or Reset iPhone.
4) Tap Reset and choose Reset Network Settings.
5) Type in your passcode, if asked, then confirm that you wish to clear out all network settings and return them to factory defaults.
This may not be the best method because resetting your network settings won’t just restart the device (which clears the caches anyway) but also clear passwords for all the Wi-Fi networks you’ve joined. Worse, cellular data settings from your wireless provider will be cleared out, too, and all your other network settings will be lost, so you’ll need to set them up again.
How to clear DNS caches on your Mac
On macOS, the flushing of DNS caches is performed through Terminal commands that have changed over the years but don’t you worry a thing as iDownloadBlog has you covered.
1) First, open Terminal from your /Application/Utilities folder or via Spotlight.
2) Type the command corresponding to your Mac operating system version, then press Enter.
macOS Big Sur, macOS Monterey (11.0, 12.0)
sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder
macOS Sierra, High Sierra, Mojave, and Catalina (10.12, 10.13, 10.14, and 10.15)
sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder; sleep 2
OS X Yosemite 10.10.4+ and El Capitan (10.11)
sudo dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder
OS X Yosemite (10.10.0-10.10.3)
sudo discoveryutil mdnsflushcache; sudo discoveryutil udnsflushcaches
OS X Mavericks (10.9)
dscacheutil -flushcache; sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder
OS X Lion and Mountain Lion (10.7 and 10.8)
sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder
OS X Leopard and Snow Leopard (10.5 and 10.6)
sudo dscacheutil -flushcache
If, for some reason, the Terminal command for macOS Sierra and newer won’t work properly, feel free to use the following syntax instead:
sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder; sudo killall mDNSResponderHelper; sudo dscacheutil -flushcache
You will need administrative privileges to execute these commands.
Bonus: Mac-cleaning software
If all of the above sounds too complicated, especially the Terminal method, consider a third-party solution such as MacPaw’s CleanMyMac, which is a much simpler alternative to clearing your DNS caches that works on all versions of the Mac operating system.

How to clear DNS caches in popular browsers
In addition to the system’s own DNS cache, most browsers (barring Internet Explorer) also keep a cached copy of the DNS records. This internal browser DNS cache may get corrupt over time and slow down lookups. Your browser automatically clears its cache when it’s restarted, but you can also do it manually without having to reopen the app.
Safari
1) Launch Safari on your Mac.
2) Enable Safari’s hidden Develop menu by choosing Preferences from the Safari menu.
4) Tick the box next to “Show Develop menu in menu bar.”
Now the hidden Develop menu will appear in Safari’s menu bar.
After clearing your browsing cache, be sure to quit and re-launch Safari for the best results.
Chrome
1) Launch Chrome on your Mac
2) Type chrome://net-internals/#dns in the address bar, then press Enter.
4) Open a new tab, then type in the address chrome://net-internals/#sockets and press Enter.
Now restart Chrome for the changes to take effect.
Opera
1) Launch Opera on your Mac
2) Type opera://net-internals/#dns in the address bar, then press Enter.
4) Open a new tab, then type in the address opera://net-internals/#sockets and press Enter.
Now restart Opera for the best results.
Firefox
1) Launch Firefox on your Mac.
2) In the address bar, type about:config and press Enter.
4) Use the search field at the top to search for “network.dnsCacheExpiration”.
6) After doing this, now set both variables back to 60.
Restart Firefox to finish the process.

The input menu is a black-and-white icon, but if you select more than one country’s layout to include in the list, then the input menu will change to show the flag of the currently selected layout, a feature that some people may prefer to just the basic input icon.
Select the icon from the menu, and choose the Character viewer option.

Also, a group of the most recently accessed symbols will be kept in the Recently Used section so you can find them there.
You can also easily search for icons in the Character Viewer. For example, if you search for “Tongue,” you’ll get all the letters that make up the word tongue (t,o,n,g,u,e) as well as all symbols/emoticons/characters that include or represent tongues.
Do remember though that the search is not the best out there. You might find yourself in many instances where you can’t find what you’re looking for, but most of the time the search will be close enough.
