If there’s anything that iOS 15 made better on your iPhone, it must be the FaceTime app. FaceTime on iOS 15 comes with all-new features like Portrait mode, Grid view, Spatial audio, Voice Isolation, Wide Spectrum, and web integration but the most significant one of them is SharePlay. SharePlay makes video calls more interactive by letting you share and stream supported content like movies, TV shows, music, and other stuff over FaceTime with anyone on call.
With SharePlay, you no longer have to use third-party apps or another video calling service to stream stuff together with your friends remotely at the same time. All you need is your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV to connect to someone over FaceTime and then you can play any kind of content together with others on a call as long as the shared app supports SharePlay.
If you wish to play your favorite music tracks and listen to them with your friends and family, then this post will help you do that on FaceTime via the new SharePlay feature.
How to listen to music on FaceTime
The only way you can listen to music or stream content on FaceTime is through SharePlay. When you listen to music with others on a FaceTime call, anyone can pause content, control playback, and change what’s being streamed; all while being in a video call and continuously talking to each other. To listen to music on a FaceTime call, follow the steps below.
Pre-requisites
Before you can stream music with others using SharePlay, you need to make sure you and your FaceTime call participants have the following things sorted:
FaceTime app signed in with your Apple ID
An active subscription on everyone’s device of Apple Music or the app you want to listen to music from (yes, not only the host, but the participants also need active subscription)
The aforementioned requirements apply to all the participants of the FaceTime call, including the person who will initiate SharePlay.
Once you’ve made sure of these prerequisites, you can proceed to follow Steps 1 and 2, if you’re the host of the FaceTime call and SharePlay. However, if you’re already on a FaceTime call and you want to join someone else’s SharePlay, you can do so by following Step 3.
Step 1: Start a FaceTime call [For host only]
If you’re the host of the video call, you need to first initiate it from your phone. For this, open the FaceTime app on your iPhone and either tap on the ‘New FaceTime’ button or select the contacts you may have recently contacted on FaceTime.
When you create a new FaceTime call, you can search for the contacts you want to start a video call with or select the required people from the list of suggestions.
To initiate the call with the selected people, tap on the ‘FaceTime’ button at the bottom.
When the call gets connected, you’ll see FaceTime’s new control bar at the top of the screen. You’ve now successfully initiated a call on FaceTime and it’s now time to head over to the music app you want to stream from.
Step 2: Play audio from Apple Music or other SharePlay-supported music app [For host only]
With the FaceTime call connected and ready, you can straight away start playing an audio track in a SharePlay-supported app. In this instance, we’re using the Apple Music app but there are more apps that support SharePlay on iOS. We’ll share more on that further down this post.
When you launch the Apple Music or a SharePlay-supported music app, you should see the “Choose Content to Use SharePlay” message at the top of the screen.
Tapping on this message will offer you different options to start SharePlay for the app’s content – SharePlay Automatically and Ask Next time.
SharePlay Automatically – This will trigger SharePlay every time you open Apple Music or a supported app during a FaceTime call.
Ask Next time – Lets you choose if you want to use SharePlay the next time you play content on Apple Music or a supported app.
Now, select the song/audio you want to stream together with your family or friends on FaceTime.
When you start playing a song on the streaming app, a prompt will appear asking you whether or not you wish to SharePlay the selected content. To play this song for everyone, tap on ‘SharePlay’.
With the media playback screen in the foreground, you’ll see the video call screen appear as a floating window at all times, unless it’s hidden manually.
Step 3: Join someone else’s SharePlay [For participants only]
When SharePlay is initiated by someone in a FaceTime call, you can see what song is being played within the video call’s controls at the top. This is indicated by a music note icon that should appear below the participants’ names along with the name of the song or audio that’s playing.
You can start listening to music that’s being played here by tapping on the ‘Open’ button adjacent to ‘Join SharePlay’ inside FaceTime’s video controls at the top. You’ll also see the app where a song is streamed from by looking for its app icon on the left side of the ‘Join SharePlay’ section.
When you join someone’s SharePlay activity, iOS will open the app that’s playing the song. To listen to this song on your iPhone, tap on the ‘Join SharePlay’ option in the prompt that appears on the screen.
SharePlay will now start playing the song that’s being shared for everyone in this video call.
When the song starts playing, you’ll enter the app’s playback screen with various controls, the number of listeners who are actively streaming through SharePlay, and a floating window that shows participants of your FaceTime call.
You should use the media controls with caution as changing a setting will affect playback on others’ iPhones as well.
How to End SharePlay when listening to songs on FaceTime
Regardless of who started it on a video call, anyone on FaceTime can stop the current SharePlay session at any time. However, when you opt to leave a session, it’s up to you to decide whether you want to remove yourself from the SharePlay streaming or stop it for all.
You can end SharePlay when streaming music on a FaceTime call by tapping the green clock pill or SharePlay icon at the top left corner of your screen.
When FaceTime controls appear, tap on the SharePlay icon.
In the dropdown menu that appears, select ‘End SharePlay’.
You’ll now see a dialog box on the screen asking whether you wish to stop SharePlay for everyone or just you. Tap on your preferred option.
When you end SharePlay for yourself, you will be removed from the SharePlay activity but others will continue with the activity. When SharePlay is stopped for everyone, you will see who stopped it on your iPhone.
What apps can I SharePlay music from?
The ability to play music directly on FaceTime is only possible with apps that support SharePlay. Since the feature is relatively new, you can only listen to audio using SharePlay on Apple Music, Digital Concert Hall, Relax Melodies, Moon FM, and Vinyls.
Sadly, SharePlay is currently not available on Spotify or YouTube Music but we can expect to see more apps that support it across multiple platforms as SharePlay gains more popularity. One of the best features of iOS 15 is SharePlay. If you were excited about using SharePlay to share music with someone, then you will be disappointed by being unable to find the feature. Well here is everything you need to know if can’t share music or listen to music on SharePlay on Facetime.
What is Shareplay?
Shareplay is Apple’s new way of collaborating with your peers and colleagues while helping you find some quality time with your friends and family as well. Shareplay allows you to share content from various third-party services during a Facetime call. This means that you don’t need to use janky mic setups or questionable apps to watch movies with your friends and family anymore.
While Shareplay is a great feature many users have been looking forward to, it is — wait for it — missing from the public release of iOS 15. Duh! Testers — including us, yes — did check out its functionality in iOS 15 beta 2 and 3 but Apple seems to have refrained from releasing Shareplay in the final release of iOS 15.
The company stated that the feature will be released to the public in the coming months and we could see Shareplay being introduced to iOS 15 for everyone in the next update. If you can’t find Shareplay on your iPhone or iPad running iOS 15 or iPadOS 15 respectively, then you’re not alone, the feature is not available to anyone at the moment.
There is no release date available for Shareplay either, but we expect it to be a part of the next major update to iOS 15 which could be released as early as next month.
Can I install iOS 15 beta 2/3 to get SharePlay on FaceTime?
Well, nope. Once you have updated to iOS 15, you can’t go back and install iOS 15 beta build, as far as we know. Rather, simply wait for Apple to kink up the issues they founding the beta builds with Shareplay on FaceTime and release it for you later on.
How to share music on Facetime when it does become available
Here’s how you can use Shareplay once it has been released for your device. Before you can start sharing music during Facetime calls, you first need to enable Shareplay on your device. Follow the guide below to get you started.
Open the Settings app and tap on ‘Facetime’.
Tap on ‘Shareplay’ under your contact info.
Turn on the toggle for ‘Shareplay’ at the top.
Now turn on the toggle for all the apps that you wish to allow to use Shareplay. For now, Shareplay supports only a select few video and music streaming services.
It’s time to now initiate the Facetime call where you wish to Shareplay content. Initiate the call and go back to your Music app and play any song.
If the app is approved, Shareplay will automatically start sharing the song with your caller. In this case, the other person will get a request to join your Shareplay, which they can approve by tapping on ‘Open’ and selecting ‘Shareplay’.
If the app wasn’t approved for Shareplay in your Settings app, then you will get a request to initiate ‘Shareplay’. Tap on ‘Shareplay’ in the pop to initiate playback.
The person on the other end will now get a request for your Shareplay, which they can approve by tapping on ‘Open’ and then selecting ‘Shareplay’.
And that’s how you can share music during Facetime calls if you are running iOS 15 or above.

FaceTime, one of the most popular video-conferencing platforms, is now available in Windows. Ever since its release back in 2010, it catered exclusively to Apple devices. But with iOS 15, you can finally use Facetime in Windows 11 and its previous iterations.
Apart from Windows, FaceTime is available for Android and Linux users as well. Also, you can now access iCloud on Windows 11, though, unlike Facetime, it won’t be available for the earlier iterations.

Can I host a FaceTime call from a Windows computer?Unfortunately, the answer is No. Although Windows users can be a part of FaceTime calls, it still won’t be possible for them to create or host one. The option to initiate a FaceTime call is only available to Apple users, namely those using iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
To join a FaceTime call, you just need the link to it. Ask the host to share the link through any of the preferred channels and follow the steps listed next to join.
How can I join FaceTime calls from a Windows 11 computer?This is a three-step process – the first is the creation of a FaceTime invite link, the second is joining the call on a Windows 11 PC, and the third is to approve the request. We have listed all three to help you understand how to host a call as well as be a part of it, in case it’s hosted by another Apple user.
1. Create a FaceTime invite link (Apple device)NOTE
The steps listed here are to create an invite link on iPhone or iPad. The process on Mac is quite similar and once you get an idea from here, it wouldn’t be difficult to create one. If you already have a link, head to the next step.
Tap on the FaceTime app icon.
Next, tap on the Create Link button.
Tap on Add Name to to give a name to the FaceTime call.
Enter a name in the text field and tap on OK to save it.
Choose an option to share the FaceTime link with Windows 11 users. You can send it via messages, email, WhatsApp, or other messaging platform. You can also tap on Copy and share the link via other channels, in case they are not listed here.
Now, tap on the link that you just created listed under Upcoming.
Tap on Join.
Once the call is started, you can wait for those on Windows 11 to join FaceTime. Every time someone wants to join, you will have the option to approve, as discussed in the last step.
Also, it’s not necessary to give a name to the link and you can very well create one without it.
2. Join a Facetime call (Windows PC)The process to join a FaceTime call from a Windows 11 PC is quite simple. However, you have to wait for the host to approve. Once that’s done, you can start interacting with those present in the call.
3. Approve joining request (Apple device)Once the request is approved, you will right away join the FaceTime call, and no more be missing out on one of the most popular video conferencing platforms.

Can I use SharePlay and screen sharing on FaceTime in Windows 11?You can’t use either SharePlay or screen sharing when using FaceTime on your Windows 11 system, though they would have been a great addition.
SharePlay allows you to do a lot more than just talk. Participants can watch movies or listen to songs together while in the FaceTime call. Screen sharing, as the name suggests, is simply sharing your screen with others in the call.
Can I use FaceTime in Windows 11 on all web browsers?The answer would be No. Apple recommends using the latest version of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge for the best FaceTime experience. When we tried using other browsers to join a call, it seemed to work fine on Opera.
However, when using Mozilla Firefox, it showed that the current browser is not supported and we need to switch to another one.
In case you use any other browser, check if you are able to join a FaceTime call. In case you receive an error, we recommend, and so does Apple, that you switch to Chrome or Edge.
That’s all there’s to using FaceTime in Windows 11. Now, you don’t need to purchase an Apple device to use FaceTime. But with the limited functionality, it’s just plain and simple and doesn’t offer a plethora of options as the other video-conferencing apps out there.

SharePlay is one of the most highly anticipated features that was pushed back a bit from the initial iOS 15 launch. Now that it’s officially arrived with iOS 15.1, here’s a hands-on look at how to use SharePlay on iPhone and iPad to share music, videos, and your whole screen.
Outside of Apple’s apps like Music and TV, official support for SharePlay will be dependent on third parties to develop the integration. But the great news is that even if an app/content you want to share doesn’t have support, you can share your entire screen with others which should serve well as a workaround in most cases.
Let’s get right into the different ways to use SharePlay on iPhone and iPad.
How to use SharePlay on iPhone and iPad
Make sure you’ve updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 15.1 (SharePlay is coming later this fall to macOS Monterey)
Start a FaceTime call (they must be running iOS 15.1 too)
Once connected, you can navigate to the Apple Music or TV app
When you play music or video, it will automatically be shared with SharePlay
But the other person will need to accept the SharePlay/screen sharing request
After starting a FaceTime call, you can also tap the “rectangle + person” icon to share your entire screen including third-party apps and content
To end SharePlay or screen sharing, tap the icon in the top left of your iPhone, tap the SharePlay icon, then End SharePlay/Screen Sharing

After you initiate SharePlay via screen sharing or playing music/video content, the other person will need to choose to join, they should look for the “Open” button:
After starting to screen share, you can tap the purple icon in the top left corner to get your FaceTime controls back.
You can share music and video with Apple’s Music and TV apps or with screen sharing in the Photos app or any other app. Official support will come on an app-by-app basis for third-party services like Disney+, HBO Max, and more.
But keep in mind the person you’re sharing with will may need to have a subscription to those third-party services for that to work.
However, if you want to share things like YouTube videos or other apps, most will work with the screen sharing SharePlay option.
Straight to SharePlay music and videoIf you start a FaceTime call and head right to the media you want to share (with apps that have SharePlay support), here’s how that looks. With this process, you don’t have to start screen sharing first.
You can swipe the video of the person you’re sharing with out of the frame to hide it, tap the arrow to bring it back.
How to end SharePlay on iPhone and iPadTo end SharePlay, head back to the FaceTime app (shortcut with the green or purple icon in the top left corner), then tap End SharePlay.
You can also end the entire FaceTime call to end the SharePlay session.

The Wi-Fi syncing gives you an IP you can visit via the browser on your computer. Here, you can upload songs downloaded to your PC, and the app syncs them automatically to the mobile app. Hence, you can play songs offline directly from the app on your iPhone.
However, you’ll need to add a cloud service that holds your music to use the cloud options. The app supports three cloud services, including Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox. Say you’ve downloaded songs to Google Drive previously, you can add Google Drive as a cloud source in the app. Then you’ll select your songs to sync them with Cloud Music Player.

You can search for a specific song or artist and even select the music category you want to download songs from various genres randomly. Downloading songs is straightforward. Moreover, you can access the Free Music Archive website on any device.
And, of course, the download songs go to your iPhone’s local storage. The website consists of two download sections. There’s a Royalty-free music page and a Free Music Archive (FMA).

Performing music on Zoom? Here’s what you should consider
If you are a music instructor or learning an instrument using Zoom, the default settings will make this very difficult. This is because Zoom actively compresses the audio from your microphone to a great extent. In addition, Zoom applies audio enhancements to suppress background noises which is not what you need when playing an instrument. Except for Original Sound, these settings can only be managed on Zoom’s desktop application.
If possible, get yourself an external microphone. Your laptop microphone is fine, but they are not usually optimized for picking up much base. External microphones are way better as compared to your inbuilt one.
Enable Stereo audio
By default, Zoom compresses audio into a mono channel. This reduces the quality of the audio. Luckily there is an option to enable Stereo audio on your Zoom calls. Once enabled, the setting will appear in your Desktop client. You can choose whether to turn it on or not.

Disable Automatic volume adjustment
Zoom automatically stabilizes the volume of your microphone during calls so that even if a participant’s microphone is set to the highest, it won’t deafen anyone on the call. It does this by dampening the sound over a specific threshold.
While playing an instrument, however, we want all parts of the sound to be heard, including the loud one. For this reason, we are going to disable the Automatic volume adjustment function in Zoom.

Step 1: Log in to the Zoom Desktop client.
Step 3: Select the ‘Audio’ tab in the left panel and untick the ‘Automatically adjust volume’ box.
Enable Original Sound
This setting turns off Zoom’s audio enhancements that suppress background noises. The reason we turn these off is that Zoom tends to confuse music tones as background noises and tries to suppress them.
Now, when you start a new meeting, you will see an option in the top left corner of the screen to ‘Turn on Original Sound’. Select this, to prevent Zoom from trying to enhance your audio.
