Suggested January 2024 How To Multitask In Windows 10 Like A Pro
Multitasking has grown so much into us that we have actually forgotten that we are doing it. Any veteran Windows user would be impressed with how much Windows 10 has improved starting from Windows 95. Not only managing multiple apps are now much easier, but you get to see a live preview of all of your windows.
Multitasking in Windows 10In this post, I am talking you some tips, on how you can beautifully manage your multiple windows, multitask in a number of ways, and save a lot of time & be more productive in tight situations.
1. Task View instead of ALT + TABUsing ALT + TAB / SHIFT + ALT + TAB had been used from ages. While they are good at letting you switch between next, and previous tabs, if you have like ten to fifteen windows open, you will end up putting up more time to find out the window you want to switch. Not to forget that as the number of open windows increases, the size of the title text for each tab reduces as well.
When using Windows 10, using Task View is a better idea. It gives you a graphical view of all open apps in one zoomed-in rectangle along with a preview of each window. You can select the one you want to switch, and it switches instantly. This is how it looks:
You can invoke Task view either by using Windows+Tab together or look for the stacked rectangles right next to the Cortana search box in the taskbar.
2. Do not have a Second Monitor? Use Virtual DesktopsUsing multiple monitors is one of the best ways to do multitasking. Not only you get to see more, but you can also run a number of apps that one display can handle. But then not everybody wants a second display, and if you are the kind of person who is on the move with a laptop, the secondary monitor is out of the question.
Windows 10 offers Virtual Desktops, where you can create virtually any number of desktops. You get access to Taskbar, Start Menu, and so on.
To create a Virtual Desktop, press the Task View button on the taskbar or use Windows + Tab. This will show the list of the running apps and the option of “New Desktop” with a plus sign on the bottom right.
Now, you can create any number of desktops, one after the other, and it will look like this.
The Windows + Tab / Task View displays both virtual desktops, and a preview of windows in each desktop as you hover over them.
Lastly, if you want to switch between the virtual desktops, use the keyboard shortcuts Windows Key + Ctrl + Left and Windows Key + Ctrl + Right Arrow.
Note: If you close any of the virtual desktops, all windows of that Desktop will become available in Desktop One.
3. Stack Windows Side by Side with Snap AssistIf you want to use a couple of windows side by side, Windows 10 comes with native support for Multitasking. Using the Snap Assist feature, you can drag one window to the complete left, unless you get to see a transparent dock-like thing where the windows can stick themselves. You can stack up to 4 windows side by side just like how it looks in the image below:
This is very handy when you need to look at one window and note or analyze in a second. Windows 10 offers an inbuilt setting for multitasking which you can search in the Settings App, and it offers the following options:
These settings are enabled by default, but if you want to change the behavior of Snap Assistant, you can change it here. Say, for example, I don’t like windows to resize when I am resizing one of the windows.
You can snap up to 4 windows like this, and while they happen automatically, you can always resize them for the best fit.
4. You can also Scroll Inactive Windows! Many times, you have a second window that has a lot of data, and you need to scroll. Windows 10 lets you scroll such windows without actually switching to them by using Scroll Inactive Windows.

5. Love Watching Videos when working? Mini Player is here to helpWhen I work, I usually have a video playing in the background. It helps if you are working alone most of the time. Windows 10 Movies & TV app come with a “Mini View” option which used to be there in Windows Media Player. This option is available right next to the full-screen button on the app. You can always resize the way you want.
These are most of the things I use when multitasking on my Windows 10 PC.

How To Get Yelp Reviews & Respond Like A Pro
Picture this: You’re about to use your hard-earned money to purchase a product or book a service. You ask the business how they will guarantee your satisfaction, and they say to you “don’t worry, just take our word for it!”
The truth is, that would never happen because, luckily, we have online review sites to back up our purchasing decisions. Your audience is no longer blindly selecting your business. Thanks to online review sites like Yelp, you can let your customers do the talking for you. Today, we’ll explain how by providing answers to questions like:
How do you get reviews on Yelp?
How can you respond to reviews on Yelp?
How can Yelp help my business?
By the end of this post, your business will be ready to rake in raving reviews!
Why your business needs reviews on YelpDespite the rise of online review sites like Google My Business and others, Yelp remains the dominant force in online reviews. In fact, Yelp is consistently the top public directory site worldwide.
Not only that, but there’s a strong correlation between visits to a business’s Yelp page and purchases. So much so that 97% of consumers make a purchase after visiting Yelp.
If you want to capture the attention of these high-intent searchers, you need a strong presence on Yelp. It’s all about getting reviews. The more positive reviews you have on Yelp, the more likely consumers are to view your business as trustworthy.
If you’re new to the Yelp game, that’s okay! It’s never too late to begin thinking about how to get reviews and respond on Yelp. Next, we’ll dig into a handy-dandy guide to taking your local marketing to the next level with Yelp.
How to get Yelp reviews: 6 tipsThere are a few tactics to grow the number of reviews you receive on the platform for a top-tier Yelp listing:
1. Claim your Yelp pageBefore you begin trying to get more reviews, you need to plant your flag on your little corner of the Yelp universe. If your business has been around a while, it’s possible it already has Yelp reviews on an unclaimed page. If you’re just starting out, you might be absent from Yelp altogether.
Either way, your first step is to claim your business profile on Yelp. To do so, head over to Yelp for Business. When you search for your business’s name, you’ll have the opportunity to claim an existing profile or establish one, if none exists.
If your business has already accrued some reviews, Yelp will verify that you’re truly the business owner before they hand over the profile. If you’re just starting out, they will similarly ensure you’re legitimately in charge of the business before allowing you to create a Yelp account.

Once your business’s Yelp profile is set up, take some time to trick it out!
2. Make it easy for people to leave reviews on your Yelp pageThe next step is to make it simple for customers to find your Yelp page. A great online presence stitches together all of your multi-channel marketing assets so consumers can seamlessly travel from one to the next.
If you’ve linked up all of your social media platforms, local listings, and website properly, a prospect should be able to find their way from your Yelp page to your website to your Instagram (or vice versa) with no friction.
When you’re claiming your Yelp profile, add your contact information—including website, address, phone number, and social handles—to your profile.
Once your Yelp profile is officially claimed, link out to it from your website, include it in your email signature, and remind social media followers they can find you on Yelp.
3. Try in-person promotionsIf you have a brick-and-mortar business, you should announce your Yelp presence in the real world. Yelp makes official stickers and window clings for businesses to display in their stores. Be sure to order some for your location.
Advertising your presence on Yelp in your store has a few benefits. When a Yelp sign hangs in your front window, it encourages passersby to look you up online and see what previous customers have said about your business.
Additionally, it’s a subtle reminder to those who just made a purchase to share their experience online.
4. Remind your customers to review your business on YelpOnce someone has made a purchase with you, it’s time to do some targeted outreach to get Yelp reviews. You can plant the seed right after the purchase is made.
For example, you could include a link to your Yelp page in an e-receipt or mention that you’re on Yelp on a physical receipt.
5. Ask for Yelp reviews over emailYou could also reach out to your customers via email a few days later and ask them to review you on Yelp. Try incentives like offering a coupon to encourage them to leave reviews.
However, when employing your outreach avoid them to write a nice review. Consumers rely on Yelp being unbiased, and any communication that comes across as an attempt to sway customers’ statements about your business online will reflect poorly on you.
Aside from simply growing your business’s Yelp presence, sending an email asking for feedback can also catch people who are upset before they write a negative review. Often, people post negative online reviews because they don’t feel heard by a company. They’ve had an issue that’s gone ignored, and they feel that griping publicly is the only way to get the business’s attention.
However, if you take the time to reach out via email shortly after purchase, you give these people a chance to privately share their concerns rather than blasting you on the internet.

6. Follow up to get even more Yelp reviewsIf you don’t hear from your new customer right away, that’s alright. People are busy, emails get lost in the shuffle—don’t take it personally or get discouraged, but do follow up.
Since it’s not necessary to get responses from every single person, and you don’t want new customers to feel like you’re harassing them, two follow-ups are more than enough.
How to respond to Yelp reviewsYou should respond to every review you get on Yelp, from the glowing to the glowering.
Responding to negative Yelp reviewsBusiness owners often hate the idea of responding to negative reviews. The biggest tip here is to take a deep breath and search for constructive criticism in the review before responding. Often there’s a legitimate concern behind the review, even if it’s the spicy language that catches your eye and spikes your blood pressure.

Responding to positive Yelp reviewsDon’t get so caught up in thinking about bad reviews that you ignore the great ones! These happy customers need your time and attention, too. If someone has taken the time to say something nice about you online, that deserves a thank you. Your kind, simple, sincere expression of gratitude goes a long way to cementing the positive feelings they already had about your business.
Respond to reviews publicly first, then move to a private conversationThe last thing to keep in mind is that you should keep your responses to reviews public. Luckily, Yelp gives business owners the opportunity to directly message reviewers. But, before you respond privately, post a response that others will see.
This is especially important for negative reviews. If handled properly, your measured and thoughtful response to a bad review can actually turn that customer’s negative opinion into a positive for your business.
When you respond publicly, other consumers considering your brand see you responding with integrity and kindness. That can sway them to do business with you despite the original reviewer’s negative experience.
Once you’ve responded publicly, it may be appropriate to take things offline. For example, if you’re following up on a negative review with a coupon code for the future or to share the process for refunding them their original purchase, that is something to send one-on-one. Just be sure to mention in the public post that you’ll be following up offline with specifics, so others don’t think you left your unhappy customer hanging.

Use Yelp to promote your businessYelp reviews remain a powerful source of social proof for small businesses. Claiming your business on Yelp is a relatively painless process, but it has tremendous upside. Take the time to establish yourself, get reviews, and respond on Yelp. With a little bit of effort, you can build out a robust online presence that wins trust and drives sales.

How To Find A Lost Recycle Bin In Windows 10
The Recycle Bin is usually a trusty way of storing items ready for deletion, but sometimes it just goes missing. If this happens to you, don’t panic! There are ways to get the recycle bin back on your desktop. Perhaps it’s been accidentally hidden, or you went so far as to delete the recycle bin itself. Regardless of your reasons, here are some things you can try to get it back.
Re-enable the Recycle BinIf you’ve accidentally disabled the recycle bin, it will cause it to stop appearing on the desktop. Before you try anything else, it’s good to ensure that you haven’t disabled it somehow by accident.
As you can see, there are other icons you can place on your desktop while you’re here. For instance, if you find yourself always tweaking stuff in the control panel, you can add an icon from this window to get easier access to it.
Creating a New Recycle BinIf you’ve ticked the box but the Recycle Bin still doesn’t show itself, we can simply make a new one instead! This requires viewing hidden files, so be ready to change some settings so we can see them.
4. In the scroll box at the bottom find the category “Hidden files and folders.” Underneath that, tick the round circle next to “Show hidden files, folders, and drives.” This allows us to see areas that Windows hides from us by default, which includes the Recycle Bin folder.
5. Also, find “Hide protected operating system files” and uncheck this. Windows will give us a warning not to delete anything important, but that’s okay; we won’t be deleting anything.
Once you have your shortcut set up, go ahead and re-activate “Hide protected operating system files” to keep the important files and folders hidden away, just so they can’t be accidentally deleted!
Rediscovering the Recycle BinSometimes the Recycle Bin just doesn’t show up anymore. It doesn’t matter if you accidentally erased it or simply deactivated it, there are ways to restore Recycle Bin functionality again as you learned in this tutorial

How To View Pictures As A Slideshow In Windows 10
When it comes to browsing multiple pictures, a clean, beautiful slideshow is the way to go. It enhances the viewing pleasure of your favorites memories and creates fun moments with family and friends.
You can run a slideshow on Windows 10 either from a picture folder or by using a slideshow maker app. Here we provide a simple guidance on both techniques. If you’re not a fan of watermarks or limited free trials, we recommend the best slideshow apps.
Running Slideshow with the Photos AppWe have explored how the Photos app is the most versatile thing on a Windows PC. From editing videos to syncing with Google Photos, this simple tool punches above its weight. Therefore, running a slideshow with the Photos app should be as much of a breeze.
Other Default Windows Programs to View SlideshowsIf Photos is not your default viewer, you can also run slideshows on other Windows programs. These include Windows Photo Viewer, Photo Gallery, Picasa, or other default apps. Out of these, Photo Gallery offers animated options including “Pan and zoom” and “Cinematic.” If you have natural images, they will come alive like no other. You can arrange them date-wise or per a chronology of your choice.
Use Icecream Slideshow MakerWhether you want to create an Instagram story or a Facebook album, the slideshow has to be converted to a movie format.
Icecream Slideshow Maker is a highly-recommended tool, compatible with all Windows versions. After a simple download, there are many options to work with. You can import entire folders. There is also an option to insert audio files for background music.
The free version restricts you to only ten pictures at a time. There are no restrictions on the number of slideshows you can create. The PRO version removes this restriction and is available for a one-time price of $19.95.
From the “Settings” you can choose transition times, fading effects, and to remove the watermark. This is the only slideshow software where even in the free version, there are no watermarks to deal with. Any saved slideshow videos can be directly uploaded to YouTube, Google Drive, or Dropbox.
Compared to many online apps, Icecream Slideshow Maker is the easiest to work with. The output video files are small in size (8 to 15 MB on average).
Use PhotoStage by NCH SoftwareAnother useful slideshow maker is PhotoStage by NCH Software. It offers more options, including the ability to add captions, subtitles, and narration. The look and feel of the app is very similar to the defunct Windows Movie Maker.
ConclusionNobody has the time to browse through all the pictures on Google Photos, Microsoft Photos and other apps. Creating a slideshow gives us an enhanced experience in viewing our pictures. Whether you want to use Windows’s default options or a slideshow-maker app, there are many options available that are tailored according to your needs.

How To Fix A Corrupt User Profile In Windows 10
In Windows 10, your user profile is stored in the user’s profile folder, which contains various settings like sound, screensavers, desktop backgrounds, taskbar preferences and personal folders. All these settings ensure your personal preferences are used when you sign into Windows so that your PC looks and works the way you want it to.
If the profile gets corrupted, you can lose your personal settings. Plus, you’ll get an error message that prevents you from signing into your user account, which can be very frustrating.
Table of Contents
We’ll list some of the causes of this problem and how you can fix a corrupt user profile in Windows 10.
Causes of a Corrupt User Profile in Windows 10The corrupt user profile in Windows 10 has been known to occur as a result of the following:
Corrupted profile registry key
Failed Windows Updates
Compromised system or user files
Corrupted user account active directory
Damaged hard drive file system caused by power outages, disk write errors or virus attacks
Failed Automatic Updates to Windows that involve upgrading service pack installations or other critical system files that update your user profile
How to Fix a Corrupt User Profile in Windows 10If you’re trying to sign into your user account on your PC and get an error message that says, “The User Profile Service service failed the sign-in. User Profile cannot be loaded”, your user profile may be corrupted. It could also mean that there’s an incorrect profile path in the registry for that user account.
Quick Fixes Repair the Old User Profile from the Temporary AccountSometimes, Windows may sign you into a temporary account (C:UsersTEMP) if your user account is corrupted and can’t start. In such cases, you’ll get a message that says, “We can’t sign into your account” and “You’ve been signed in with a temporary profile” notification.
However, you may not want to use a temporary account because you’ll lose any changes you make to the temporary profile after signing off.
Before repairing your old user profile account, go to the Users folder in the local drive C:Users, and check if you can see your old account with all its files. If not, go to C:Windows.old and check if the files were archived there.
If you find your old account with its files, back them up to an external drive or your preferred cloud storage so that you don’t lose them.
Open a command prompt by typing CMD in the search box and then select Command Prompt.
Enter whoami /user in the command prompt and press Enter.
Make note of the Security Identifier (SID) for the current account. If it’s a standard user account, sign out and then sign back into an administrator account.
Note: If you don’t have an administrator account, boot Windows in Safe Mode and enable the built-in administrator account. Sign out of the current user account and then sign back into the Administrator account.
Go to the following path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionProfileList.
Note: If the user profile folder doesn’t exist, delete the SID key to create a new profile folder and then close the Registry Editor.
Verify that the State DWORD value data is set to 0 and then exit the Registry Editor.
Verify that the State DWORD value of the SID key is 0 and then close the Registry Editor.
Restart your PC and sign into the account that had the temporary profile error to check whether it’s now fixed.
Create a New User AccountIf you weren’t able to restore your user profile account using the previous method, try creating a new profile account to replace it. Creating a new user profile doesn’t delete the old, corrupted user profile.
To do this and keep the same user account name, we’re going to go into the registry and delete the profile for the corrupted user account. That way, when we reboot Windows, you’ll be able to log into the corrupted user account and create a new profile. You’ll then be able to copy files from the older profile folder to the new one.
Note: Before using the steps below, create a system restore point, which you can use to undo any mistakes you may make in the process.
Sign into an administrator account that’s not affected by the corrupted profile and then open a command prompt.
Enter this command: wmic useraccount get domain, name, sid and press Enter.
Make note of the SID for the account name with the corrupted profile.
Note: Do not delete any other SID keys you find on the ProfileList.
Select Yes and then close the Command Prompt and Registry Editor.
Next, sign into the account with the corrupted profile and then create a new default profile for it. Turn the privacy settings on or off and then select Accept.
You can now copy and paste any files you want from your old profile folder into your new current profile folder. Make sure you copy each folder individually to avoid bringing some hidden or problematic system files to the new user profile.
Paste the files into the new account, sign out of the old account and sign into your new account. All the files you transferred will be in the new account.
Recover Your Usual User ProfileNow that you’ve recovered your account or created a new one altogether, you can customize it to your liking with all the preferences you had before the profile got corrupted.

Windows 10 is a great operating system for business use. If you’re holding a business meeting, or some other kind of a presentation, a projector is a must.
So, in this article, we’ll show you how to connect a projector to a computer or laptop running Windows 10.
What do I need in order to connect my projector? To be able to connect a projector to your computer, it has to have a video output port. Old laptops used to have a VGA (D-Sub) port but nowadays you will have an HDMI or DisplayPort connector.
And these ports must match the projector’s. If not, you will need converter cables or ports to transform the different standards.
After you connect your projector to your computer, you will need to set up the drivers for the video projector.
Usually, the new video projectors are plug-and-play. That means they will be identified automatically and work immediately after being connected.
Older projectors might come with a CD/DVD media with dedicated software and drivers. If you have lost the support, you need to identify the name of the manufacturer and model number, then visit the manufacturer’s website and download the appropriate software.
How do I connect my Windows laptop to a projector? 1. How to connect your projector to a Windows 10 computer 2. How to connect a laptop to a projector using HDMI to VGA cableWhat if the technical configuration available forces you to connect your computer to a projector using an HDMI to VGA cable? How do you connect a laptop that has no VGA port to a projector?
If one of your devices has an HDMI port, while the other sports only a VGA port, then you’ll need an HDMI to VGA converter to connect your laptop to your projector.
Expert tip:
3. How to connect a projector via wireless displayIt is worth mentioning that you don’t need a cable to connect your Windows 10 computer to a projector. If both devices support Miracast, you can simply select the option ‘Connect to a wireless display’ choose a projector and then the projector will mirror your computer’s screen.
Speaking of Miracast, we have dedicated a series of articles to this tool. Check them out to better understand what Miracast is, how to use it and how to fix various issues that may occur during usage:
4. Connect your computer to a projector on BluetoothOf course, if both your computer and projector support Bluetooth technology, you can also use this method to connect the two.
What do I do if Windows 10 doesn’t recognize my projector? If Windows 10 doesn’t recognize or detect your projector, there is probably a problem with the connection itself or the drivers.
Make sure that you connected the projector to the correct port in the PC or laptop and if you’re using a converter, test it to see if it works with another video device such as an external monitor.
If the connection is not the problem, check if you have the correct drivers installed for the projector.
Alright, so this is how you can get your computer to display on a projector and also fix potential issues along the way.
