Suggested January 2024 How To Unlock Your Hidden Seo Potential Like Never Before With Botify
Google isn’t missing 51% of their content because they can’t or don’t want to crawl it.
They’re missing it because large, complex enterprise sites can put up barriers, often unknowingly, that make it difficult for search engines to find their most important content.
The way to combat this is by optimizing for the full SEO funnel – crawl, render, index, rank, and convert.
It’s only when you unify all this data that you can unlock the opportunities on your site to help Google and other search engines find and index your critical content.
For years, Botify has been helping SEO professionals do this by providing:
Log file analysis
HTML and JavaScript crawling
Query position and CTR tracking
Traffic and conversion data
The world’s top companies (including Condé Nast, Refinery29, Marriott, Merkle, Glassdoor, Expedia, Clarins, and more) rely on Botify every day.
Botify, however, wasn’t content to rest on its laurels.
In 2023, they’re determined – more than ever – to help their clients uncover hidden potential and take their performance to new heights.
And they’re doing that through a combination of data, prescriptive insights, and automated tasks.
“With so much information to digest, we wanted to make it easier and faster for SEOs to navigate through the data and make the highest-impact decisions. We want to call people to the most important data so SEOs can save time, mitigate risk, and maximize their resources,” explains Adrien Menard, Botify’s CEO.
In an effort to achieve that, Botify invested heavily in product innovation in 2023.
The investment paid off with two new product suites: Botify Intelligence and Botify Activation.
Here, we’ll dive into each of these suites and learn how they’re helping Botify’s clients unlock more hidden SEO potential than ever before.
Botify IntelligenceBotify Intelligence is all about helping SEO professionals work smarter and more efficiently.
Within the Botify Intelligence Suite, users will find two key tools that will help them do just that: ActionBoard (now available) and AlertPanel (coming soon).
Get a Custom, Prioritized SEO Roadmap with ActionBoardBotify Intelligence’s ActionBoard delivers a roadmap that lists customized action items that will drive the most impact.
The suggested actions are never generic or one-size-fits-all.
Each site has its own prioritized SEO tasks based on impact.
The ability to sort and prioritize tasks is essential when you’re managing a site with hundreds of thousands or millions of pages.
With so much crawl data, keyword data, analytics data, and log files, even figuring out where to start can be overwhelming – and that’s where ActionBoard comes in.
ActionBoard helps cut through the noise and empowers SEO professionals to jump into the most critical tasks, rather than wasting time sorting through mounds of data to pinpoint opportunities.
ActionBoard is always working in the background.
With each site crawl, ActionBoard delivers new insights on exactly what is happening with your site and key actions you can take.
AlertPanel Provides an Early Alert System for Known SEO IssuesGet the peace of mind that can only come from knowing that you’ll be alerted to known SEO issues in real time.
AlertPanel is configured to constantly scan the most important pages on your site, and understand the difference between seasonal trends and actual anomalies.
“AlertPanel provides a highly scaled safety net: if the critical pages of your website suddenly lose important organic traffic, Botify will immediately alert you and direct you to exactly where the issue is occurring,” explains Christophe Frenet, Botify’s Senior Vice President of Product.
In addition to monitoring for possible algorithm shake-ups, ActionBoard is also constantly on the lookout for other known SEO issues, including sudden drops in crawled pages or huge upticks in 404 errors, etc.
AlertPanel will roll out to users later in the first half of this year.
Botify ActivationBotify Activation was designed to simplify and streamline routine SEO tasks.
One of the first features within Botify Activation is FastIndex.
FastIndex allows SEO professionals to submit new, updated, and relevant pages to search engines for indexing, ensuring that high-value, critical pages that really matter to your site have the best chance of being indexed.
FastIndex includes an integration with The Bing API (building upon Bing’s new programmatic URL submission process) to facilitate faster indexing.
Botify is also participating in Bing’s content submission API pilot, where they’ll be testing feeding the full HTML of pages to Bing.
Botify Activation will roll out to users in the first half of this year.
How Botify Is Thinking Differently in 2023It’s not just Botify’s tools that are growing: it’s also the entire mission of the company.
From the blog to company branding, everything got a 2023 makeover.
“When we set out to re-think our brand, we knew we wanted our public-facing image to more closely reflect the reason Botify was founded and what continues to drive our product innovations today — the desire to help enterprise brands unlock hidden potential,” said Botify’s CMO Rachel Meranus.
“For us, that meant refining everything from our visual identity to our messaging, which you’ll see reflected on the new chúng tôi in everything from our new Solutions pages to a more robust blog and resource center.”
Take a closer look at the logo – even that’s changed.
The “o” in Botify is now a magnifying glass; it’s a play on search itself, and also pays homage to Botify’s commitment to help SEO pros find high-impact opportunities in their data.
You’ll also notice that the actual color of the Botify logo changed ever so slightly.
Playing on their “unlocking hidden potential” message, Botify also wanted their new brand to celebrate SEO professionals and elevate them in their organizations.
“SEOs are often the unsung heroes of their marketing and product teams,” said Kameron Jenkins, Botify’s Director of Brand, Content & Communications. “SEOs have the potential to drive massive revenue growth for their companies, and we want to give credit where credit is due.
One way we’re doing that is through our new ‘Trust Your SEO’ section of our home page, where we highlight some of our customers and their stories.”
Getting Started with BotifyBrands can increase their website ROI substantially by investing in making sure all their critical pages are findable by Google and other search engines, as well as using SEO to inform all of their other digital investments to drive better returns from them.

With Halberd, You’ll Never Forget About Locking Your Computer
This is a sponsored article and was made possible by Riftcat. The actual contents and opinions are the sole views of the author who maintains editorial independence, even when a post is sponsored.
Halberd is a smart Bluetooth key that can be used to lock and unlock your computer based on the proximity between your computer and the device. It is small, just like your key, and comes with a hook for you to hook onto your keychain for portability.
Here is how it works:
The Halberd is a wireless key that the user carries, that acts liked the authenticator.
When the key is in range, the GateKeeper software authenticates you and logs you on.
When the key moves out of range, the GateKeeper software automatically locks the computer.
UnboxingHalberd comes in a small box. Opening it, all you find is the Halberd, an instruction slip, a battery, a USB Bluetooth dongle and a lanyard.
The Halberd comes with a small button at the side (more on its usage later) and a small LED light that will tell you when the battery is low.
Getting StartedTo get started, there are a few things that you need to set up.
1. First, remove the battery cover from the Halberd and insert the battery.
2. On your Windows computer (it only supports Windows at the moment. The Mac and Linux versions will be available in the later part of the year) download the Gatekeeper software from its website.
3. Run the exe file and install the Gatekeeper software to your computer.
4. Once the installation finished, it will prompt you to insert the USB dongle to start the pairing process.
5. Next, it will ask you to pair your device.
To do so, simply place the Halberd close to the USB dongle (or even tap the dongle). If it is still not pairing, press the button at the back of the Halberd.
6. Once paired, it will ask for your Windows password. This is to allow it to unlock your Windows computer automatically. (Do note that your password is encrypted and stored locally in the machine. No private information is stored on the Halberd.)
7. Lastly, enter a PIN code as a secondary way of logging into your computer. This will also serve as a two-factor authentication for your computer if you desire more security.
ConfigurationThe Gatekeeper software is simple and easy to use. At the main page, under the “User Info” tab, the signal strength is basically a sign of “how near” the Halberd is to the USB dongle. When the signal drops (presuming that you are leaving your computer), it will automatically lock the computer.
And lastly, the “Unlock Option” allows you to configure how it should unlock your computer when Halberd is detected. The default is “Windows Password Login” which essentially means the Gatekeeper software is not doing anything to unlock your computer. You can, of course, select “Automatic Login” to get rid of the hassle of manually typing in the password to unlock it.
The “Touch Login” option requires you to physically touch the USB dongle with the Halberd before it unlocks. For those who are paranoid about security, the “PIN + Gatekeeper Login” will require you to enter a pin before it will unlock the computer.
UsageThe usage is very easy once you have configured it. To test, all you simply need to do is walk away with the Halberd, and your computer will automatically lock. When you return (or when the Halberd is detected), it will then unlock the computer.
What happen if someone removes the USB dongle when you are away?
One thing about the Gatekeeper software is that it doesn’t replace the standard Windows login (with password). Instead, it adds itself as another alternative to lock/unlock your computer. In the event that the USB dongle is removed after the computer is locked, you can still use the usual password method to unlock your computer. Don’t worry that it will lock you out of your own machine.
Note: The Gatekeeper software can only lock and unlock your computer. It doesn’t auto-login to your desktop. So if you have chosen the “Logout” option, you will have to physically enter the password to log in again to your computer.
One last thing: the button on the Halberd can only be used to lock the computer. It cannot be used to unlock the computer when it is locked.
Trident app – Using your mobile phone to unlock your computerIf you prefer not to carry an extra device around, there is also the Trident mobile app (cost $19.99) that you can download and use in place of the Halberd.
The Trident app works exactly the same as the Halberd, and they are a replacement for each other, so you just need to get one or the other. On the first run it will ask for permission to access your Bluetooth. Next, using the same Gatekeeper software, you can pair your phone either with your computer’s Bluetooth adaptor or with the Gatekeeper USB dongle.
ConclusionIf you are looking for convenience with safety, the Halberd is one device worth looking into. You never have to worry about forgetting to lock your computer again.

How To Train Your Seo Team: A Step
If you’re a solo SEO professional, then training is easy.
The only thing needed is your commitment to learning new things on a regular basis.
However, as soon as you hire one more person to help with your SEO efforts, you have a team, and transferrable training becomes a necessity.
And if you’re managing an SEO team for an enterprise site but have no system set up for training your team, you’re already in trouble.
Because you already have plenty to do as a busy SEO professional, your training program needs to be:
Easy to implement.
Scalable as your teams and site needs grow.
This guide will give you a way to start an effective and easy-to-expand training program for onboarding new team members and improving the skills of your existing team.
Why You Need an SEO Training ProgramOver the course of my career in several different agencies and now with a major SEO platform, I’ve observed that many SEO teams – even some at the biggest brands in the world – don’t have systematic training programs.
Why?
I suspect the biggest reason by far is time.
SEO professionals are already so busy that setting up a training program is just one more task.
It’s also harder to link to the things on which they will be evaluated.
So why should SEO team managers invest in building a training program?
It’s because:
Success in SEO is directly proportional to not only the skills but the knowledge of the SEO practitioners.
SEO changes rapidly – your team needs to be kept up to date.
A programmatic approach to training ensures uniformity of knowledge and standard procedures across your team.
You’re almost certainly doing training anyway, just not efficiently.
In short, training your SEO team is not optional.
It’s about how efficiently and effectively you’re doing it.
Here’s how to build an efficient and effective SEO training program while still having time to actually do SEO.
Step 1: Outline Training EssentialsBefore you start creating or implementing an SEO training program, you need a plan to make sure you’ve covered all the essentials in a logical order.
At this point, your plan doesn’t need to be more than an outline.
Simply map out all the elements of SEO and your organization’s approach to it that you consider must-know for your team.
I want to emphasize that your plan should include both SEO knowledge, as well as your unique philosophy and standard operating procedures.
The latter should not be skipped because how your team does SEO is just as important as what they do.
What that outline contains will vary from one SEO manager to another, but here’s an example of a suggested course outline:
As you develop your training program you can flesh out the details of that outline more.
Step 2: Decide Your Training MediumThere are many different ways you can present your training to your team.
Which is best will depend on your own style and how you think your team learns best.
Here are some options.
Live SessionsThis is close to the traditional classroom approach.
Set up a schedule of regular team meetings devoted to training, either in person or remote by video conferencing.
As the manager (and presumably most experienced SEO pro on your team), you’ll probably lead most of the early sessions.
Over time, it is wise to assign sessions to other team members.
This lessens your burden and also serves as a great learning experience for others since the best way to learn something is to teach it to someone else.
Keep each session tightly focused on one main point.
People remember only a fraction of what they hear, so don’t try to cram too much into any one lesson.
If you use a deck to present each lesson, be sure to send it out to the team afterward for future reference or designate a central location where the decks are available for everyone.
Record each session.
Along with the presentation decks, these recordings become the basis of an ongoing training program that new hires can work through on their own.
Online CourseIf you’re a bit more ambitious, you could make use of an LMS (Learning Management System) to build a self-guided course of lessons available online.
Also, learning can be self-paced with little further use of your time.
A big time investment in upfront work to design the course.
A lack of interaction with learners.
Existing DocumentationThe “quick and dirty” way to build a training program is using documentation you’ve already created and stringing it together in a course of study.
This only works if you’ve been creating and updating content about SEO on a regular basis.
(You could also make use of third-party content, as long as your confident of its quality and fit for your organization.)
The idea here is to set up a course outline and have each lesson link to relevant blog posts, videos, decks, or other content.
Your only other investment here might be to set up quizzes and tests or other evaluative mechanisms if you want some accountability for what has been taught.
Step 3: Start a Regular Training ScheduleNo matter which of the methods above you decide to employ, I highly recommend setting up a schedule for the training course and requiring your team to stick to it.
Otherwise it’s far too easy for the normal busyness of everyday SEO to cause procrastination and delay of training completion.
A session or lesson per week is probably sufficient for the live sessions approach.
For the online course or existing documentation approaches, set a series of deadlines, but allow the students to self-pace within those deadlines.
Step 4: Establish Evaluation & AccountabilityWhile not absolutely necessary, having some mechanism for evaluation and accountability will help increase the effectiveness of your training program.
There are several approaches you can take.
Tests & QuizzesThis is the most traditional approach.
I suggest using non-graded quizzes immediately after each lesson to help reinforce and correct learning, with periodic tests to establish how much the learning has stuck.
Advantage: Immediate feedback and relatively easy to set up.
ProjectsDesign either simulated or “real world” projects where the student has to demonstrate application of the lesson.
For example, after a keyword research lesson the student has to find ten new keywords a site should be targeting and explain why.
Advantage: Intensely practical.
Work MonitoringFor some period of time after a given lesson, monitor the work of the team mate that relates to the lesson and look for signs of implementation of the principles learned.
Be sure to meet with the student periodically for feedback.
Advantage: Totally real-world demonstration of actual learning.
Wrapping UpWhichever evaluation method you choose, make sure your approach is toward reinforcing learning, not a “gotcha” to find out who did poorly.
Place the emphasis on practical application, not just memorization of vocabulary and facts.
Be sure to have a plan to follow up on learning and reinforce where necessary.
Make the training and its effective application a part of an employees regular review process.

How To Optimize Your Website For Technical Seo?
Your SEO efforts are unlikely to bear fruit if there are issues with the technical aspects of the process. So, you must learn about technical SEO and how to do it properly. The bright side is that after you’ve performed a technical SEO audit of your website and fixed any possible issues, you won’t have to worry about them again.
What Does “Technical SEO” Entail?Technical search engine optimization includes making the site more search engine friendly and enhancing the user experience. Technical Search Engine Optimization often entails the following tasks −
Google Sitemap Submission
Making your site more search engine friendly
Faster loading times for your website
Optimizing your site for mobile use
Identifying and correcting instances of duplicate content
The basics and best practices of technical SEO for your website are outlined in this essay.
How To Optimize Your Website For Technical SEONow that we have a shared definition of technical SEO, we can examine industry standards. The following checklist may be used to conduct a self-guided technical SEO assessment.
It’s FastWebsites of today must be quick to load. Nowadays, nobody has time to wait for a website to load. In 2023, studies found that if a mobile website doesn’t load within three seconds, 53 percent of visitors will quit. This pattern persists; data from 2023 indicates a 0.3% decline in conversion rates for every second an e-commerce website takes to load.
Consequently, a sluggish web page receives even fewer visitors since it ranks lower in search results than its speedier counterpart. Since 2023, Google has used page experience (how quickly users perceive a web page to load) as a ranking signal. Thus, having sites that load rapidly enough is more crucial than ever.
Create a Profile In The Google Search ConsoleYou should sign up for a Google Search Console account if you haven’t already. Don’t fret; there’s no cost. Your website’s overall and per-page search engine performance may be seen in Google Search Console. In addition, you may check out the blunders that Googlebot, the search engine’s crawler, finds on your site.
Hreflang TagsIn general, the hreflang property will allow you to designate the language of your website. So, if you have the material in more than one language, hreflang tags are a must. On the other hand, hreflang tags may also be used to identify regions that share a common language.
The URL FormatWhen it comes to rankings, the URL doesn’t matter much. But you should still pay attention to the structure of your URLs and remember them. Search engines and humans benefit from shorter URLs since they can more quickly grasp the intended location. If you insist on making the switch, it’s courteous to email the sites linked to you.
Markup For Structured DataWhen people talk about Schema markup in terms of SEO, they mean structured data markup. With Schema, you can provide Google and your visitor’s additional information about the product or service you’re marketing. Tables, lists, recipes, and item descriptions may all be marked up using structured data markup. Google will include this in the search results when it is relevant (e.g., when Google shows you full recipes in a search query).
Using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) On Your WebsiteSecure Sockets Layer, or SSL, is a protocol for establishing private connections over the Internet. The beautiful thing about SSL certificates is that most browsers and website builders automatically activate them. Nonetheless, you should still be aware of it to keep your SSL certificate from expiring. Without SSL, browsers warn users that your site is unsafe and may direct them to another.
Search Engines May Index ItSpiders are the automated programs used by search engines to crawl your website. While crawling your site, robots use links to find new and interesting things. A well-organized system of internal links will help them find the most crucial sections of your site quickly and easily. Yet, there are other methods for controlling robots.
Text File For RobotsThe chúng tôi file allows you to instruct crawlers where to go on your site. It’s a potent weapon that requires cautious use. As we indicated at the outset, bots may be unable to access certain areas of your site if even a single typo exists. It’s very uncommon for users to mistakenly exclude their site’s stylesheets and scripts from the chúng tôi file. The instructions for your site’s layout and functionality are included in these files. Search engines can’t tell whether your site is functional since certain files are being restricted. Overall, we suggest diving deep into chúng tôi if you’re serious about understanding how it works. Or, even better, have a programmer do it for you!
Indicator Of Meta-Robots ConclusionTo ensure that search engines can easily crawl and index your site, you need to do several tests and tweak various settings as part of your technical SEO strategy. In most circumstances, doing periodic SEO Audits will be the extent of your continued involvement with technical SEO once you’ve got it right the first time. Indeed, some of these activities (including improving your site’s load time and incorporating structured data) need technical expertise, but failing to do them will prevent your website from reaching its full potential.
What To Do Before Selling Your Old Iphone
Let me guess… after years of use, your iPhone is starting to look a little dull. So, you’ve decided to sell it and upgrade to the newer model. But before selling your old iPhone, it’s wise to carry out a few simple procedures like backing up your data to a secure location and wiping out all existing settings and content.
This is done to ensure nothing is left on your device, and all of your personal data is secure. Follow along as I walk you through the 12 most important things you must do before selling your old iPhone.
1. Back up with iTunes/Finder
You know, iCloud backups are fine and dandy, but there’s a data cap. Also, having a real, accessible backup on your local system can go a long way in case things go wrong with an iCloud backup. That’s why I always recommend an iTunes/Finder backup.
Note: If you want to save your Health and Activity data from your iOS device and Apple Watch, make sure to encrypt your backup. To do so, check the box labeled Encrypt [device] backup and then enter a memorable password.
After the backup process is completed, you can check out the date and time under the Latest Backup section.
2. Backup to iCloud
While iTunes backups are safe, iCloud backups are helpful when you want a quick and easy way to set up your new iPhone. When you try to restore from an iTunes backup, you need to be connected to the computer with the backup files. With iCloud, you can be anywhere (with Wi-Fi connectivity, of course).
Backing up to iCloud is easy, too.
Open Settings on your device.
Now, tap on your profile icon.
Next, tap iCloud.
Next up, tap iCloud Backup.
Ensure that iCloud Backup switch is ON. Now, hit Back Up Now. Then, wait for some time until your device has been successfully backed up.
Depending on your network speed and the things you’re backing up, it can take anywhere between a few minutes to an hour to backup. The good news is that you can let it run in the background and carry on with your work.
An important thing to remember is that you can pick what data gets backed up to iCloud. This is extremely useful.
Whether you’re switching to a new iPhone or heading to the Android world, it’s always better to secure your address book. And what better way to back up all the contacts than using iCloud sync. You can also export your contacts as vCard.
Open Settings → tap on your profile → iCloud → now, ensure that the switch for Contacts is turned ON.
4. Delete Photos
I’ll repeat it. A general reset will clear all your photos, but it’s always safer to delete them individually. That way, you are clearing out traces (making it better than what a general reset will do).
Clearing out photos includes clearing out albums. Unfortunately, since the iPhone/iOS doesn’t come with an option to delete multiple photos at once, you’ll have to resort to a little trick to delete them in bulk.
In your album, pinch the screen to zoom out. Now tap Select in the top right (if you don’t see Select, you’ve zoomed out too far and need to zoom back in). Drag your finger across the rows or columns of photos you want to delete.
Tap the trash can icon and watch your photos disappear. Well, to the ‘Recently Deleted’ album.
5. Delete apps
Once you’re done deleting photos (which is some of the most personal stuff you’d have on your old iPhone), you can start clearing out the apps.
Why delete apps when a reset clears them out? Just an extra precaution. Deleting apps will delete most caches associated with these apps. It’ll also delete any traces of login/personal information that the apps might’ve stored on your iPhone. (I’m thinking of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
6. Sign out Of iCloud, iMessage, and FaceTime
Another important thing you need to do before you sell your iPhone is sign out of iCloud, iMessage, and FaceTime.
Open Settings → Your profile → Tap Sign Out → Enter your Apple ID password and hit Turn OFF in the popup.
Head over to Settings → Messages → Send & Receive → tap on your Apple ID → tap Sign Out.
Open Settings → FaceTime → hit Apple ID → tap Sign Out.
7. Sign out of iTunes/App Store
This is just a routine procedure.
Open Settings.
Scroll down and tap on iTunes & App Store.
Tap on your Apple ID.
Now tap Sign Out.
8. Disable all passcodes/Screen Time Passcode
A general reset (erase all contents and settings) usually resets everything including passcodes but just to be sure, you might want to manually disable your Screen Time Passcode if you’ve set it.
To disable it, all you need to do is head over to Settings → Screen Time → Tap Change Screen Time Passcode → Tap Turn Off Screen Time Passcode → Enter your passcode to confirm.
9. Safari, Mail, Calendars, Reminders
When you delete your iCloud account, most of the items in Safari, Reminders, Calendars, etc., are gone. Ditto for Mail accounts too. But there could be history leftovers, page caches, or reading list items that you might want to delete off of your old iPhone.
Since these are stock apps, you can’t delete them (and there’s no point in doing that either). So, delete whatever data’s leftover.
iOS offers you an easy way to get rid of all the Safari history and website data. Get it done to ensure your entire browsing data is eliminated.
10. General reset (Erase all content and settings)
By this point, your iPhone already looks like it’s been reset. But remember: you still have Wi-Fi passwords stored, possibly some APN profiles stored, personal information like the iPhone’s name, etc. We’re going to clear them out.
Open Settings.
Tap General.
Scroll to the bottom and tap Reset.
Tap Erase All Content and Settings.
Confirm and your iPhone will reset, power off and reboot.
11. Unpair your iPhone from your Apple Watch
This is really essential. I highly suggest getting it done before you trade in or give away your device.
The data of your Apple Watch is automatically backed up at the time of unpairing. So, you shouldn’t worry about it. To get it done, head over to this post.
12. Deregister iMessage
Especially when switching to a non-Apple device, you’ll need to deregister iMessage. Else, you might not get SMS/MMS messages on your device. To do so, check out this hands-on guide.
There you go! That’s everything you need to do before you sell your iPhone.
Wrapping Up…
So, these are some of the essential things you must do before giving away your device to anyone (or selling it). Of course, it’s a little time-consuming. However, it’s better to go through the grind in order to keep your precious data as safe as possible.
So, which device are you planning to switch to?
