Suggested January 2024 Molekule Mini+ Air Purifier Adds Homekit Support, Now Available At Apple Stores

Molekule debuted the world’s first molecular air purifier with the “Air” back in 2023 and it arrived with a handy iOS app. Now the company is taking smart home connectivity a step further and bringing HomeKit support to its Mini+ molecular air purifier and it’s landing at Apple Stores and chúng tôi in the US. Read on for a closer look at this top-notch HomeKit air purifier.

HEPA air purifiers have been the standard for some time, but Molekule’s technology that comes from over 20 years of research and development goes even further. The Molekule lineup including the Mini+ that’s now available from Apple uses Photo Electrochemical Oxidation (PECO) to not just trap allergens, viruses, bacteria, pollutants, mold, and chemicals but actually destroy them.

The Molekule Mini+ is made for rooms up to 250 square feet and includes really useful features like a particle sensor and an auto mode that adjust the air purifier based on your air quality. With the Auto Protect mode, can tell what the air quality in your space is right on the Mini+ or with your iPhone.

I actually bought several Molekules this past spring (two Mini+ and an Air) after building a home to clean up all the dust and debris from the construction process. It was awesome to see the Molekules go to work and create a really noticeable difference in our air quality within just a couple of days. Other examples include when we burn dinner or our cat is shedding lots of fur, the Mini+ automatically senses what’s happening and adjusts accordingly.

Molekule Mini+ becomes a HomeKit air purifier

Molekule CEO Jaya Rao shared more on offering the Mini+ at Apple and introducing HomeKit support:

Specifically, HomeKit support for the Molekule Mini+ will include the ability to setup the air purifier with the Home app as well as providing control through Apple’s smart home platform and Siri. There will also be functionality to include Mini+ with HomeKit automations.

At the moment, unfortunately, what we’ve heard from Molekule is that the HomeKit support will only be coming with new Mini+ air purifiers sold by Apple. We’ve double-checked on this and are waiting for an answer. Notably, HomeKit isn’t mentioned yet in the Mini+ listing on chúng tôi yet or Molekule’s website. It also sounds like existing Mini+ owners won’t be seeing a software update to enable HomeKit. No word for now on HomeKit coming to the Molekule Air or Air Pro.

Update 6:50 am PT: HomeKit is indeed only arriving with the Mini+ sold by Apple. And we’ve also just been alerted to an in-depth review by Wirecutter/NYT that found notable concerns with Molekule’s claims about its air purifiers.

Update 9:45 am PT: Molekule has shared a statement based on previous concerns about its claims:

That case was brought about by Dyson in 2023, the conclusion stated that PECO is an effective technology. Importantly, since then, Molekule has nearly 20 new test completed, FDA clearance on our medical device, independent third party testing with some of the most rigorous labs in the world, released an entirely new product in the Air Pro. Molekule’s claims to their technology and that messaging have been updated and are accurate.

The Molekule MIni+ is available now at Apple Stores across the US as well as chúng tôi price at $499.95. And if you’re interested in several Molekules, you can find discounts with bundles direct from the company (but strangely, no HomeKit when bought direct).

Check out more about Molekule on the company’s website and you can learn more about the science behind Molekule’s PECO technology here.

Note: Molekule makes a Mini+ and Mini, just the Mini+ is gaining HomeKit support for now.

M2 Macbook Air Now Up To $150 Off At Amazon Lows

Tuesday is delivering a fresh batch of new discounts today, with the best prices yet on Apple’s M2 MacBook Air leading the way at up to $150 off. That’s alongside a chance to elevate the look of Apple Watch Series 8 with official Leather Link bands from $65, and the second-best price yet on Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones of $249. Hit the jump for all that and more in the latest 9to5Toys Lunch Break.

M2 MacBook Air now up to $150 off

Apple’s M2 MacBook Air has quickly become one of the most popular option in its current stable. But before we see the second-generation Apple Silicon come to the Pro side of the lineup this October, Amazon is offering a pair of discounts on the new portable macOS machine. Right now the 13-inch M2 MacBook Air 512GB is now on sale for $1,349 in Space Gray. Down from $1,499, this is one of the first discounts and a new all-time low at $50 under the previous discount. The savings also continue over the baseline 256GB model, which is now also sitting at $100 off and matching the all-time low of $1,099.

Elevate Apple Watch Series 8 with official Leather Link bands from $65

You’re looking at one of the more recent additions to Apple’s official stable of Watch bands, not to mention one of its more premium offerings. Comprised of handcrafted Roux Granada leather made in France, this is certainly one of the more premium in-house straps from Apple. Alongside its stylish appearance, the Leather Link band also features a magnetic design that locks in place without having to fuss with a clasp.

Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones deliver ANC at second-best price of $249

Several retailers are now offering the latest Bose QuietComfort 45 ANC Headphones for $249 shipped including Amazon and Best Buy. Available in two different styles, today’s offer is down from the usual $329 price tag in order to deliver the second-best price to date. This is $30 under our previous mention, the lowest since Prime Day, and a total of $80 in savings.

These over-ear headphones from Bose arrive as the brand’s latest flagship offering yet with a series of notable specs to match. First up, there’s enhanced active noise cancellation which pairs with an Apple-style transparency mode as well as Active EQ for balanced listening. You can also rely on 24 hours of playback before needing to recharge the QuietComfort 45 ANC, and plugging in a USB-C cable for just 15 minutes will net you three hours of usage in a pinch.

ecobee’s HomeKit Smart Thermostat with built-in air quality sensor hits $232

Earlier this year, ecobee launched a new version of its popular Smart Thermostat with a refreshed design and some new tricks up its sleeve. Today, one of the very first chances to save is going live at Amazon, with the new ecobee Smart Thermostat dropping to $232. Normally fetching $250, this is only the second cash discount since hitting the scene in May and an all-time low at that. All packed into a refreshed design that comes centered around a 4-inch display with a Zinc build that steps up from the plastic casings used in the past.

Features are also seeing some improvements with much of the same Siri and Alexa integration as before. Though the biggest adjustment is that there’s now a built-in air quality monitor which pairs with the external temperature sensor to help provide local readings of temperature, humidity, and even stats like VOCs and carbon dioxide levels. Dive into our hands-on launch coverage for a better idea of what to expect.

Anker Nano Pro 40W dual USB-C charger hits $29

Anker’s official Amazon storefront now offers its Nano Pro 40W Dual USB-C Charger for $29 in four different styles. Normally fetching $36, today’s offer is the best we’ve seen since a 1-day sale back in January at 20% off. It comes within $1 of the all-time low and is the second-best price to date. Not to mention, a rare chance save on all of the colorways.

This capable Anker charger is the perfect companion to your iPhone and other everyday carry gear with a 2-port design. Still fitting into a compact form-factor that’ll rest in the palm of your hand, it can dish out 40W of power in total, allowing you to juice up an iPhone 14 at the full 20W on top of AirPods or even an iPad. Our launch coverage details what you can expect from the package, too. Head below for more.

Disney Plus 4K Resolution Support: Is It Available?

Read more: Disney Plus – Everything you need to know

Thankfully, the answer to this question should please 4K TV owners. Here’s everything you need to know about how Disney Plus supports 4K video streaming. You can sign up for the service at the link below.

Does Disney Plus support 4K streaming video?

In a word, “Yes,” Disney Plus does indeed support 4K streaming of much of its content right out of the box.

What devices and platforms currently support Disney Plus for 4K video streaming?

The service supports 4K on a variety of devices. They include the many smart TVs, sticks, and set-top devices that use the Roku OS. It’s also available on Microsoft’s Xbox One and Xbox Series X consoles and Sony’s Playstation 4 and 5 game consoles. The Apple TV box has Disney Plus support for 4K video. Also, it’s available with Android TV-based devices, including the NVIDIA Shield. It’s also supported by Google Chromecast and devices that have Chromecast built-in. Finally, Disney Plus films and shows in 4K are available on recent LG and Samsung smart TV models.

When you do start streaming a TV show or movie that supports the higher resolution, the service will automatically display the highest-quality video your device can support.

What TV shows and movies on Disney Plus currently support 4K video streaming?

Quite a few Disney Plus movies and TV shows support 4K streaming. That includes all of the Star Wars films, all of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and all of the Pixar CGI feature films. A selection of films from Disney’s cel and CGI animated movies can also be streamed in the higher resolution. That includes classics like Frozen, the original Lion King, and more. A selection of live-action Disney Plus movies also supports the higher resolution, like Pirates of the Caribbean, The Princess Diaries, and The Santa Clause.

Many of the original TV shows and movies on the service support 4K streaming, including The Mandalorian, High School Musical: The Musical – The Series, Wandavision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki. You can tap on the “Details” section of the  TV show or movie you want to watch in the Disney Plus app to find out if it does support 4K streaming.

Does the service also support HDR?

HDR is an acronym for High-Dynamic Range. Basically, if you have a TV with both 4K and HDR support, not only will the supported videos be shown in the higher resolution but they will also have a wider color range, which will make the video better looking. The good news is that the lineup of movies and TV shows on the service that can be streamed in 4K also support both the competing HDR standards (HDR10 and Dolby Vision).

What internet download speeds and hardware do I need?

Provided you have the right TV and streaming equipment, you will need a minimum internet download speed of 25Mbps to stream Disney Plus content at 4K resolution. The company also recommends that your TV or monitor supports HDCP 2.2 for streaming 4K and HDR content.

That’s all the info we have on Disney Plus 4K streaming support. We will update this article if the service makes any improvements or changes for this feature.

Panasonic Toughbook U1 Ultra Unveiled, Available Now

Panasonic’s done well for themselves in the Toughbook line-up, and now they’re hoping to get a few more customers interested in the ultra-tough computer options, thanks to the addition of the Toughbook U1 Ultra. Designed with the same mentality of all the other Toughbook lineage members, the new U1 Ultra is meant to take a beating and keep on ticking, while offering plenty of PC power under the hood to make sure that usage time isn’t unbearable.

Inside, you’ll find a 64GB Solid State Drive (SSD), and 2GB of memory. The processor is an Intel Atom Z530, clocked at 1.6GHz. Panasonic has gone with Windows 7 as the Operating System of choice. Panasonic has also made sure that you can see what you’re doing, courtesy of the TransflectivePlus feature, which offers up to 6000 nit viewability while in the sun on the 5.6-inch WSVGA display. Panasonic says that your battery life should be an estimated 9 hours while on the go. And the whole thing weighs 2.3lbs, with the strap and batteries installed.

Panasonic says that you can drop the Toughbook U1 Ultra from up to six feet off the ground, and from any angle, and it will remain in tact and function. They also based the new portable on a fanless design, which makes it water and dust resistant. The U1 Ultra is available right now through participating Panasonic retailers, and you can pick one up for $2,799.
