Suggested January 2024 Please Insert The External Storage Media And Press Ok Message While Upgrading Windows 11/10
If you receive a message Please insert the external storage media and press OK message while upgrading Windows 10, and your PC is stuck on this message, then this post will be able to help you. Please insert the external storage media and press OK
In this article, we are going to show you three straightforward methods to fix “Please insert the external storage media and press ok” error so that in future you can overcome this error while updating or re-installing Windows OS with the help of an external storage device.1] Using a USB Port for Your SD Card
While using an SD card to install the new version of Windows on your PC or laptop, you can encounter the above-mentioned error which appears even after you insert the SD card into your computer and eventually the process gets stuck in a loop which needs to be terminated by exiting the setup process.
You can also use a USB adapter in order to connect the SD card via a USB port on your computer, and by doing so users have suggested that they have solved the issue by applying this particular method. Therefore, follow the steps given below.
First and foremost, you need to plug the USB section of the adapter into the open USB port located on your computer.
You need to make sure that the port you are using is operational and ensure that it doesn’t cause connectivity issues. Even a slight disconnection might terminate the whole setup.
After executing the previous step successfully, you need to align the SD card in such a way so that the metal grooves are pointed downward and finally insert the SD card into the adapter.
Users have reported that the external storage device you are using as a backup or as a storage device for Windows 10 must be a USB storage device and it needs to be connected to a USB port on your computer.
So if you execute this method successfully, it is quite sure that you will be able to avoid the “Please insert the external storage media and press ok” error but still if you are facing the same issue follow the next process carefully.2] Updating BIOS
Updating BIOS can help you to deal with certain issues regarding Windows Setup and various users have reported that updating BIOS has enabled them to go through the Windows installation process without facing the above-mentioned error.
Firstly, you need to find out the current version of BIOS which you have installed on your computer by typing “msinfo” command within the “Search” bar present in the “Start” menu.
You will be able to locate the BIOS version just under the Processor model menu. Once you find the BIOS version, either copy or rewrite anything to a text file or a piece of paper.
Once the update is done, you will definitely find that “Please insert the external storage media and press ok” error will be eradicated, and eventually you will be able to update and re-install your Windows easily.3] Using “System Restore” option
You need to access Advanced Startup Options.
Firstly, you need to press the “Power” button present on the Windows login screen and then press and hold “Shift” key. Finally, restart the computer after pressing the “Shift” key.
Select “Enable Safe Mode with Command Prompt” option present in the list of “Startup” settings
As soon as the “Command Prompt” window appears, you need to type “cd restore” command, and finally press the “Enter” button.
After executing the previous step successfully, you need to enter “rstrui.exe” and again press the “Enter” button.
We hope that at least one of the methods mentioned above will solve this Windows error.

If you start your Windows computer and it gets stuck on the “Please wait,” screen then here is how you can resolve the issue. After the computer starts, many system services start even before you log in to the computer. Services related to Network, User Interface, and more have to be ready by the time you reach your desktop. How do you get past Windows stuck on Please wait screen?
If you find that your computer screen is stuck on the Please wait screen, then here are some steps that will help you. On this screen, you will not be able to use ALT+CTRL+DEL, and so the only option you have is to remove peripheral devices, reboot the computer and follow these suggestions.
Force Automatic Startup Repair
Disable some Windows Services
Rollback Changes or perform System Restore.1] Force Automatic Startup Repair
It would have been wise to use a Windows Bootable USB drive to boot into the safe mode, but assuming you don’t have access to any other computer, let’s force this.
First, disconnect external drives, peripherals, etc, wait for a minute and power on your system.
Now, force shutdown- and then power on – your computer three times in a row. You can do this by first turning on the computer and then immediately pressing the power button again, but this time, keep it pressed. It will turn off the computer. If you are using a desktop, you can also switch off from the power supply. Repeat this three times.
The next time you start the computer, it will begin the Automatic Startup Repair process, which will eventually launch the Advanced Recovery mode.
Go to Troubleshoot and then select Safe Mode.2] Disable Services
Once the computer boots into Safe mode, you need to disable three services—
Windows Error Reporting Service,
Network List Service
Network Location Awareness.
To do this, open the Run prompt and type chúng tôi and then press the Enter key.
It will open the Windows Services Manager.
Locate the services we mentioned, and follow the steps for each of the services.
Stop it if the service is running
Change its Startup type to Disabled
Restart the computer.3] Rollback Changes or perform System Restore
When you are back to the regular boot, the, Please wait screen should not hold for long, and you should get the log-in screen or the desktop if there is no password set.
While I wanted to suggest this earlier, now that you are here, you need to find the reason. If there was a change you made to the computer before the issue occurred, you might need to reverse it. If you can figure it out, it will be easy to fix the cause. If not, the best option is to restore your computer to its previous working state.
TIP: There are more suggestions here that will help you if your Windows is stuck on loading some screen. Why does my Laptop keep saying please wait?
If your laptop keeps saying Please wait – then the stuck screen can come due to corrupt Windows files. Windows files may get damaged due to viruses or any unwanted programs.
I hope this post was easy to understand and that you could pass the Windows 11/10 stuck on Please wait screen.
Are you excited to upgrade to Windows 11 from Windows 10? Microsoft rolled out the Windows 11 automatic update to all computers that met the minimum system requirements a while ago.
However, you may still want to download the new version of Windows with the media creation tool if your computer hasn’t received the update yet or if you have a machine that doesn’t have continual internet access.

If you choose the USB flash drive option, you’ll need to select the USB device you want to use on the next screen.
If you had chosen the USB method in the previous step, you’re now ready to install or reinstall Windows 11 on your PC. However, if you had chosen to download the ISO, you’ll need to burn the ISO on a blank DVD.
Note down the command and execute it. Alternatively, if you prefer a more graphical method versus using the Command Prompt, just select OK and exit the program.

In order to connect a physical external storage device to your iPad, you will need to make sure you have the appropriate connector. This may mean that you will need to purchase something specifically for the purpose of connecting your iPad to the external device. Depending on your needs, you may want to purchase:
A cable with the appropriate connectors on each end.
An adapter which will connect an already existing cable to your iPad.
A multi-port adapter or hub which has two or more different kinds of connecter ports to use with different kinds of connecter cables.
If you are purchasing a cable or adapter, make sure you will be getting the correct one for your needs. Check your external device and/ or the cable it came with to determine what type of connection you will need on that end. Some of the common types of connecters are: USB, USB-C and micro USB. For your iPad, you will need to know if your iPad has a lightning connecter port or a USB-C.

When thinking of photo editing software, there are only a few names that really come in mind. For me, there is Photoshop, ACDSee , and, of course, GIMP.
Although all of them work pretty well, each of us has his own preference, and for those of you who like to use GIMP for image editing, you will be thrilled to know that it is compatible with Windows 10, Windows 8.
The latest version of GIMP is fully compatible with Microsoft’s new operating system, and it has also received many improvements from the last version, which had some issues.
Also, as in terms of features, it is comparable with Adobe’s Photoshop, but it is much more resource-friendly, which makes for a great Windows 8, Windows 10 program.GIMP for Windows 10, Windows 8 – A quick walkthrough
Keep in mind that unlike other photo editing apps like Fotor for Windows 10, Windows 8, or Fresh Paint, Gimp for Windows 10 Windows 8 is not an app, but a full Desktop program.
This is the same one that is compatible with Windows XP and Windows 7, so if you were looking for a dedicated app, then you will be disappointed as there is no official app at the time of this writing. H
owever, there is a GIMP Guide app available on the Microsoft Store, for those interested in learning how to use GIMP .
Moving on to the actual program, GIMP for Windows 10, Windows 8 is exactly the same as the versions for the old Windows operating systems.
Also, for those who are just starting to use GIMP, you will probably have to watch a few tutorials before you start working.

After installing GIMP on Windows 10, Windows 8, you will notice that it starts in multiple window format, which allows the user to move each element on the screen and place them where ever they want. While this feature is great for multiple monitor setups, I don’t think it is ideal for a single monitor.
The tools are pretty similar to Photoshop, allowing users of GIMP to create or edit photos very quickly and efficiently.
Also, a difference I noticed when using GIMP on Windows 10, Windows 8 is the overall smoothness and speed with which images open and tools work.
One of my favorite tools that GIMP for Windows 10, Windows 8 provides is the angle measurement feature, perfect for those who do precision work.
GIMP also supports hundreds of plug-ins and scripts that give you access to an even bigger list of image editing options. You can add new brushes to the tool, as well as new gradients, colors, patterns and splashes. You can check out the full list of supported plug-ins in the GIMP Plugin Registry.
Perhaps some of the most popular GIMP plug-ins are Layer Effects and Layer via Copy/Cut.
These two tools bring a useful feature from Photoshop into GIMP, allowing designers who work with layers to copy, cut, and paste areas from one layer or a group of layers.
You can also create new layers using the areas you previously selected.
Overall, GIMP for Windows 10, Windows 8 offers all the goodies that users are familiar with, but with the added bonus of Windows 8 support and the speed that it has.
Now you know that GIMP runs on Windows 10, Windows 8 without a hitch, which means that you can start editing photos just like before.

The Recycle Bin in Windows! It’s there, we need it, but we hardly ever notice it. Some of us don’t even bother to empty it, letting Windows do the job once it starts overflowing. Well, let’s change that and let’s take a closer look at it today! Let’s see how it works and how we can get the best out of it in Windows 11/10/8.1/7.Windows Recycle Bin Tricks and Tips
The Recycle Bin is just that! It lets you recycle deleted items. Once you delete any file or folder from the Windows File Explorer, it is moved and placed into this bin. It is not deleted as such.1] Restore deleted items 2] Recycle Bin location
To see the location of the Recycle Bin on your Windows computer, you will have to first show protected operating system files via the Control Panel, Folder Options applet. Once you have done that, open your C Drive. You will see the $Recycle.Bin folder. Open it, and you will see the Recycle Bin. It is the same for other drives too.3] Change Recycle Bin size
The Recycle Bin size calculations are based on the user’s disk quota and not the disk size. In Windows XP, the default Recycle Bin was 10% of the user’s quota on the volume. In later versions of Windows, the default size is 10% of the first 40GB of quota, and 5% of any quota above which is above 40GB.
If you wish, you can also change the size and settings on a per-folder basis.4] Tweak Recycle Bin behavior
You will then be able to decide the maximum size of the Bin. This means that if the items in the Bin exceed this number, then Windows will start deleting items on a First-In-First-Out (FIFO) basis. You can increase the size of Recycle Bin if you feel.
Most of us do not like the delete confirmation box. You can choose to have it displayed or not here. You can enable or disable this Delete Confirmation Box5] Show Hide Recycle Bin from Desktop 6] Rename Recycle Bin 7] Change Recycle Bin icons
But we have noticed that in many cases when you revert them back to defaults, the Recycle Bin icon does not refresh automatically. As such, I’d recommend you not do this.8] Count the number of items in the Recycle Bin
To see how many items are there in the Recycle Bin:
Open Recycle Bin
Select one item
Look in the bottom left corner.
You will see the number there.
You can also use PowerShell to count the number of items in the folder.9] Recycle Bin recovery software
If you need to recover or undelete files that you permanently deleted even from the Bin, then you will need to use some good free data recovery software like Recuva. As soon as you realize you have deleted some files and wish to recover them, stop using the computer and install and run a file undelete software.
Did I miss any? Oh yes – you can do the following too!
And what if your Bin does not function the way it should? See this post, if your Recycle Bin were to ever get corrupted.
