Suggested January 2024 Review: Mophie’s Juice Pack Access For Iphone 11 Pro Max Is A Must
The iPhone 11 Pro Max battery has been fantastic since the day I purchased it. Apple touts up to 80 hours of audio playback and 20 hours of video playback. Apple’s technical specs page says that it lasts up to five hours longer than the iPhone XS Max. With this increase in battery life, is a battery case still needed? I’ve been using the Mophie juice pack access for the past few weeks (which included my trip to JNUC 2023), so I wanted to share my thoughts.
I’ve never used a battery case before. My biggest gripe with a lot of them is they limit access to the Lightning port. I skipped the XS generation of phones, so I was never tempted by Apple’s official models last year. I knew I had some travel coming up, so I was excited to try out Mophie’s take on a battery case. There are a couple of things to like about the Mophie juice pack access at first glance.
The case uses Qi charging to charge the phone, so you get access to the Lightning port. A Qi charger can charge the case or you can use the included USB C to USB A. While I use AirPods Pro as my daily headphones, keeping the Lightning port open would allow me to use EarPods if needed. When the case is plugged in, it will charge your iPhone first and the case second. You can easily pop the case off to charge them separately as well. The main reason you might want to do that is if you wanted to use Apple’s 18W charger for a quick charge (up to 50% charge in around 30 minutes with 18W). Mophie’s juice pack access features a 2,200mAh battery, which will give you an additional 15 hours of audio playback or five extra hours of video playback.
So what’s it like in daily use? I think Mophie nailed this product. It does exactly what it says it will do. When traveling to JNUC, I didn’t even think about charging. I listened to podcasts, watched a few AppleTV+ shows, and stayed on top of my email. When I got down to under 40%, I decided to go ahead and turn on the battery (using the button on the back). It gave my phone an additional 25% charge while I was listening to some music on Apple Music (until the case went dead).
If you are a frequent traveler, you will know how an additional 20–25% of battery life can make the difference in finishing the day with a bit of battery left vs. a dead iPhone. If you frequently use Apple Pay, Apple Maps, or ride-sharing services like Lyft when traveling, you know that keeping a spare battery is not a luxury when traveling.
The case is fairly compact, but it is going to be thicker than using a standard case. If you are the type person who leaves your iPhone on a charger at night, keeps it on the charger in the car, and then leaves it on a charger at your desk, you’ll have no use for juice pack access.
But if you are on the go a lot (travel, in the field for your job, etc.), I highly recommend you purchase this case. Apple hasn’t released an official battery case for the iPhone 11 and 11 Pro lineups yet, so Mophie’s case is the best one on the market for the moment. I enjoyed having it while traveling to JNUC 2023 and having it around during the conference.
Even if you don’t use the day every day, it’s a great case to keep around for days when you will be in and out of airports, out of the office, etc. You can purchase juice pack access in three different colors (red, black, and pink) for $79.95. Mophie offers models for the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 as well. Amazon also sells the Mophie juice pack access, but it’s slightly more expensive at the moment.

As to what accessories can go nicely with your iPhone, all I can tell is check how loaded your wallet is and where your priority lies (with pun intended). OMOTON Screen Protector
Whenever I think of safeguarding my iPhone, the first thing that strikes the mind is giving an extra bit of shield to the expensive Retina Display. Considering the unbelievably high screen repair cost, (out of warranty screen repair cost: $199 for iPhone 11, $279 for iPhone 11 Pro, and $329 for 11 Pro Max), it pays to choose a trusted screen defender upfront. And if you want to have a top-notch screen protector for your 2023 iPhone, I would recommend you to try out OMOTON.

Talking about Aria Luxury wallet case, it’s carved out of full-grain American leather and features nylon stitching with French hem styling. The premium leather wallet case comes with multiple slots that can carry up to 5-7 credit cards. Plus, the interior also has a big pocket to keep your cash securely inside. Better yet, Aria Luxury is UV resistant that enables it to keep the shine intact for long.
6. Mophie Juice Pack Access Battery Case
While iPhone 11 claims to have up to an hour of increased battery life over iPhone XR, the 11 Pro delivers up to four more hours of battery life than Xs. As for the 11 Pro Max, it offers up to five hours of more juice than the predecessor – iPhone Xs Max. Even with such long battery life, the iPhones might not live up to the rigorous demand of power users including hardcore gamers or those who like to stream media for hours. And this is where a top-notch battery case like Juice Pack Access has a role to play. The case has a compact yet durable design to protect the smartphone. Moreover, it’s also said to feature Qi-enabled wireless charging input to let you charge your device securely.

Alas! What worth is the support for fast charging when you neither have the compatible USB-C port nor the required USB-C to Lightning cable and the fast charger? Even if they failed to make their latest iPhones USB-C equipped, the company should at least have packed in the same 18W charger and USB-C to Lightning cable with iPhone 11 that it offers in the iPhone 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max boxes. So disappointing, isn’t it? But before you become sad, let me tell you that JSAUX has come with a pretty affordable solution. It offers a reliable 18W faster charger and durable USB-C to Lightning cable at just $28 (combined). They are equipped to let you turbocharge your iPhone 11.

SUPCASE understands that each iPhone user may have different needs and tastes when it comes to cases. Therefore, the case manufacturer offers an array of styles and variations. Each one with its unique set of features, let’s explore them in more detail.
UB Pro Series Rugged Cases
The Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro incorporates a dual-layer system for 360º protection. Known to survive drops from mountains, gunshots, and wipeouts, the case effortlessly exceeds military drop-standards. It has even been awarded CNET’s annual “Best Case Scenario” drop test.
A built-in screen protector front and a rugged raised edged back piece completely encases your device. In totality, the case offers ultimate defense from shock, drop, dust, dirt, and moisture. Interestingly, the protection aspect does not compromise on style or functionality.
One of the thinnest, robust, most rugged cases in the industry are available in four striking colors. The case maintains full compatibility with wireless chargers. An in-built kickstand simplifies one-hand use and handsfree multi-angle viewing. Moreover, the detachable swiveling belt clip holster manifolds the convenience factor of the case.UB Electro Series Slim Cases
The case incorporates a top screen protector frame, a scratch-resistant TPU back, and an electroplated bumper frame. Hence, the term Electro series. Thanks to the sleek, eye-catching clear back design, you can show off the device without any fear. Once encased, your device remains protected from drops, dints, bumps, dust, and dirt.
The transparent backing will not stain or discolor, ensuring your phone looks always looks good. 0.6mm Raised bezels around the camera and screen further avoid scratches. The case maintains Qi compatibility, fully supporting wireless charging.
UB Style Series Clear Cases
Don’t be fooled by the looks and slim profile of the Style series case, it surprisingly holds a 15 ft drop test certification by MET Labs. The “less is more” design is crafted from a scratch-resistant hard PC back and hock-absorbent TPU bumper. The hybrid mix keeps your device well protective during accidental drops or bumps.
The flexible TPU guards have precisely raised bezels that defend the camera lens and screen from damaging surfaces. Not skipping over functionality, the case maintains easy access to all ports, buttons, and wireless charging compatibility. You can either opt for a full clear or colored bumper pattern, as per your preference.
Is your case a Super-Case?
SUPCASE claims that their covers can survive and adapt to harsh environments and unpredictable conditions. While I can’t second the claim, it did indeed stand out during my tests. The case looks great, offers great protection and value for money. I thoroughly enjoyed SUPCASE for my iPhone, what about you?

While the Mophie Juice Pack cases are a little bulkier than most, you can rest assured on both battery and protective qualities with the power-pack market leader. The Air is the slimmer of the two cases for iPhone 6, but the Plus offers greater battery life and more solid protection. The Juice Pack for iPhone Plus is slimmer still but won’t give the larger iPhone a full charge. Mophie continues to lead the pack not on innovative new features but the best basics a protective battery case can offer.
The Mophie Juice Pack Air and Juice Pack Plus for iPhone 6, and Juice Pack for iPhone 6 Plus (yes, the names are rather confusing) are now available. We tested each, and were impressed with the results.
Mophie is the market leader for smartphone battery cases, even though its premium products are priced higher than most of the competition.
If you’ve upgraded to the iPhone 7 then see our round of the best iPhone 7 battery cases.
You know what you are getting with a Mophie battery case: quality design, trustworthy battery life, and solid protection. You can buy slimmer cases, but usually with some compromises. Mophie claims that its cases are the only ones manufactured in the same factories as Apple’s iPhones themselves. The company even makes its own cables to ensure quality throughout.
The Mophie Juice Pack Air and Juice Pack Plus for iPhone 6, and Juice Pack for iPhone 6 Plus are all MFI certified by Apple, and triple tested for endurance, speed and durability.
All of the above is why – at £89.95 for the Juice Pack Air, £109.95 for the Juice Pack Plus for iPhone 6, and £89.95 for the Juice Pack for iPhone 6 Plus – these battery cases are more expensive than the average power pack.
All the Mophie cases prioritise iPhone charging first, followed by the case battery. And, unlike many cheaper battery cases, you can both charge and sync using the supplied Micro USB cable, and not have to remove the case every time you need to sync with your computer.
Its bigger brother, the rather confusingly named Juice Pack Plus (that isn’t for the iPhone 6 Plus), packs a higher-capacity 3,300mAh battery. This gave us a full recharge and about an extra 20 percent again after that.
The Juice Pack for iPhone 6 Plus has a smaller 2,600mAh battery, but this adds to the phone’s already capable charge power. Expect to get 60-70 percent charge on the iPhone 6 Plus.
All models are available in tactile matt black, glossy white and sleeker gold colours.
The Juice Pack Plus also offers greater iPhone safety than the others, with what Mophie calls its Impact-Isolation System – active-suspension bumpers inside the case for more robust shock and impact protection.
As a result of this added protection and higher battery capacity it’s slightly bulkier and heavier than the Air. In fact, as the Mophie for the iPhone 6 Plus is the slimmest of them all, it shows that it’s the battery that adds girth, not the protection.
The Air is pretty tough too, mind. All models feature a screen-saving raised bezel to stop cracks and scratches. Pass-through mute switch, volume and lock buttons protect the ports and switches.
The Mophie cases for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are as simple as the previous Mophie generations, with a mechanical switch on the back so you can turn on and off charging as it suits you. Four LEDs show you approximately how much charge is left in the case battery.
Mophie has also stuck with the pop-off top and slider-style body design for all its battery cases.
There are slimmer battery cases for the iPhone 6. We particularly like the £54.99 iWalk Chameleon i6 Power/Bumper Case, which is lighter and thinner than the Mophies. And maybe the smartest design of all iPhone 6 battery cases comes from Tylt, with its £89.99 Energi Sliding Power Case, which features a dual design where you carry the phone around in a tight, ultra-slim protective case and only add to a charging case when required. This means, of course, that you need to keep the case with you when out and about for long periods of time, but does keep the phone protected outside of the charger. Read our Best iPhone 6 battery cases round up for reviews of as many cases as we have laid our hands on.
The Juice Pack Air measures 7.42cm x 15.5cm x 1.55cm (2.92in x 6.10in x 0.61in), and weighs 99g (3.5oz).
The higher-capacity and more robust Juice Pack Plus measures a slightly larger 7.44cm x 15.57cm x 1.68cm (2.93in x 6.13in x 0.66in), and weighs 110g (3.9oz).
The Juice Pack Plus measures 8.31cm x 17.4cm x 1.45cm (3.27in x 6.85in x 0.57in), and weighs 110g (3.9oz).
Mophie is soon to launch an iPhone 6 version of its excellent Space Pack case, which offers both power and up to 128GB of storage via its Space app for iOS. As soon as we have one to test we’ll review it here.
Thankfully Mophie now has its own UK store so you can order without having to calculate international shipping fees, and avoid the many counterfeit Mophies you’ll find at many online retailers.
All come with Micro USB charging cable and a headphone port adapter (for users of angled or short headphone jacks).Specs Mophie Juice Packs for iPhone 6: Specs
The 1,840mAh Juice Pack Reserve measures 7.01cm x 15cm x 1.47cm (2.76in x 5.9in x 0.58in), and weighs 75.1g (2.65oz). The 2,750mAh Juice Pack Air measures 7.42cm x 15.5cm x 1.55cm (2.92in x 6.10in x 0.61in), and weighs 99g (3.5oz). The higher-capacity and more robust 3,300mAh Juice Pack Plus measures a slightly larger 7.44cm x 15.57cm x 1.68cm (2.93in x 6.13in x 0.66in), and weighs 110g (3.9oz). The 2,600mAh Juice Pack Plus measures 8.31cm x 17.4cm x 1.45cm (3.27in x 6.85in x 0.57in), and weighs 110g (3.9oz).
The front offers Ceramic Shield protection which should make it resistant to scratches, while Gorilla Glass should keep the back protected too. But let’s face it: if you’re paying over a grand for a phone, you’ll want to keep it as scratch and shatter-free as possible.
The new iPhone 12 phones also feature MagSafe, which allows the handsets to magnetically snap into place on the MagSafe wireless charger, without you having to fiddle around to ensure it’s in place.
While MagSafe opens up the possibilities for adding magnetic accessories on the back of the phone, like Apple’s own line of MagSafe wallets, it also means you’ll need a MagSafe-compatible case if you intend on making the most of this feature.
Here, we’re rounding up the best cases for the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Whether you’re after something rugged, or something stylish and functional, like a leather wallet case, we’ve got you covered. We’ll also point out MagSafe-compatible cases.
We’re separately rounding up the best cases for the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro and iPhone 12 mini.Apple – Best overall
It’s impossible to overlook Apple’s own offerings for the iPhone 12 Pro Max – especially if you want a case that’s fully MagSafe compatible.
There are a couple of options to choose from: while we personally prefer the look of the leather option in California Poppy for £59/$59 (pictured), there is also the cheaper silicon option in Kumquat orange for £49/$49.
Both options are sure to keep your iPhone 12 Pro safe and looking great, while raised bezels around the camera and screen will keep the scratches at bay.Casetify – Drop Proof & Versatile
Casetify is another reliable brand to consider for your iPhone 12 Pro Max. Not only do you get a fantastic choice of colours and designs to choose from – in fact, you can even add your own
on the back – but these cases are tough. Like, super tough.
Casetify’s cases offer 6.6-feet drop protection and also has an antimicrobial coating that kills 99% of germs. You can also tick wireless charging and MagSafe compatibility off the list. And it’ll cost you less than Apple’s options (in the UK) with prices starting at £39/$60. Not bad.
See the full Casetify collection.Spigen – Best Value
Of course, reliable drop protection doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Spigen’s Liquid Air offers great value for money with military-grade shock protection at under £20/$20.
The textured back allows extra grip too for those of us who can be butterfingered. It’s also wireless charging compatible.
See the full Spigen collection for iPhone 12 Pro Max, or check out the Liquid Air over at Amazon.Bellroy – Best eco-friendly leather
If you want a clean and simple leather case without having to pay a premium just because it has an Apple logo slapped on, take a look at Australian brand Bellroy.
The leathers in Bellroy cases are environmentally certified, which means they consume less water and chemicals in the tanning process.
The cases are MagSafe and Qi charging compatible and come with a three-year warranty. You can also find wallet case options that cleverly conceal credit cards under a flap.
Pick it up for £39/ $45 directly from Bellroy or from Amazon.Mujjo – Most stylish leather wallet
Here’s another leather option case for the iPhone 12 Pro Max that’s similar to Bellroy, though a tad more expensive.
Dutch brand Mujjo make sleek and sophisticated cases using full-grain vegetable-tanned leather. The case has an integrated cardholder that fits up to three cards and is wireless-charging compatible.
Pick it up directly from Mujjo or from Amazon for £59.95Mous – Rugged & Sleek
You can’t go wrong with a Mous case. The brand, which we can’t help but recommend, offers super tough and durable cases with excellent drop protection and heaps of functionality.
Mous’ Limitless 3.0 options work with Apple’s MagSafe wireless charger, but you just won’t get that magnetic ‘snap’. Mous says this is due to its cases being slightly thicker than Apple’s owns in order to maximise protection. Instead, Mous’ cases work with its own ecosystem of AutoAlignPlus magnetic wireless chargers and other accessories, like its card wallet.
Limitless 4.0 case too – the same design, protection and finishes as Limitless 3.0 but with full MagSafe-for-iPhone compatibility in place of the company’s own AutoAlignPlus system.
Pick up a Mous case from £47.99/$69.99 directly from Mous or from Amazon where it’s £39.99/$59.99.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra vs iPhone 14 Pro Max – how do these premium smartphones compare?
The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra release date is just around the corner, and since its big reveal on February 1st at the Galaxy Unpacked event we now know the specs and features that this new high-end smartphone comes with. Both the S23 Ultra and the iPhone 14 Pro Max are respective companies’ top flagship devices, and it is time to see which one comes out on top.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra cameras vs Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max cameras
In terms of camera hardware, it would seem that the Galaxy S23 Ultra will have a substantial lead over the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
This year, Samsung’s biggest upgrade is the addition of the new 200MP ISOCELL HP2 primary camera sensor with 0.6-micron pixels to the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The company specially designed this custom sensor for the Ultra model. 8K 30 FPS video has been introduced for the rear camera, as well as the 4K60 FPS video for front and rear cameras.
The new sensor on the Samsung S23 Ultra takes great low-light photos. The pixel size goes up to 1.12 microns, allowing users to snap 50MP images with increased light sensitivity. Samsung improved the night-light images by introducing a 2.4-micron virtual pixel by combining 16 pixels into one, resulting in photos taken at 12.5MP. According to Samsung, this new method allows users to take sharp photos when light exposure is low.
Apple has also made some changes this year. The company has finally dropped the 12MP camera and replaced it with a 48MP sensor. It is a significant upgrade for the iPhones but no match to what Samsung offers.
The final nail in the coffin for the iPhone 14 Pro Max is the Ultra Stabilization video recording mode. According to Samsung, it is on par with Apple’s Action Camera Mode, new Ultra Stabilization video recording mode, and more.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra vs Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max processor
When it comes to processing power, it seems Samsung will struggle to win against Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max’s A16 Bionic chip, at least in terms of single core performance, but multicore performance could be a lot closer. Apple’s latest Bionic chip provides impressive performance, way ahead of what Android is currently offering, including Samsung.
Previously, Samsung used Qualcomm chips for the U.S. and Asia variants and Exynos for the Europe variants. This year though, Samsung has stopped producing the Exynos variants of its flagship smartphones. Although Samsung’s upgraded version of Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is a decent performer, it’s unlikely the upgrade will give it a sufficient boost to beat Apple.
We haven’t yet had chance to see tests of this latest model, but we can use the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 to get some idea. In terms of Geekbench scores, the A16 Bionic just flattens the regular Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 reference model in Single-Core performance. Apple also takes home the win for Multi-Core results, but the difference is minor.
The upgraded Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 ‘galaxy’ variant might end up performing on par when it comes to multicore, but its unlikely to get enough of a boost to beat Apple in single-core performance.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra vs Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max storage & memory
The iPhone Pro Max features four storage variants: 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. The S23 Ultra also has similar storage variants, so, it’s a draw.
But the S23 Ultra beats the 14 Pro Max in terms of memory. iPhone 14 Pro Max only has a single 6GB variant, while the S23 Ultra will have two different memory variants: 8GB and 12GB.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra screen vs Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max screen
The iPhone 14 Pro Max uses the same 6.7-inch AMOLED display as its previous generation. It also has a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and Super Retina XDR resolution with 460ppi. It is an impressive display, bright (up to 2,000 nits) and with accurate colors.
Samsung has kept a similar display to the S22 Ultra with a 6.8-inch, 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and QHD resolution, though the nits have increased to 1,750 and it now has new Ultra Dynamic Range features. It comes with 501ppi.
All things considered then, the iPhone 14 Pro Max has a slight edge in terms of brightness, but the the S23 is a bit better in terms of resolution and screen size.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra vs Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max battery life & charging
The Galaxy S series smartphones have never really matched up to Apple’s phones when it comes to battery life, and though there is some improvement with the S23 Ultra, it still doesn’t compare. The S23 Ultra comes with a 5,000mAh battery like the S22 Ultra did, but increased efficiency with the latest Snapdragon chip has improved battery life by around an hour (nothing earth-shattering, but we’ll take it).
The iPhone 14 Pro Max comes with a 4,323 mAh battery and manages around 19 hours of battery life, which is huge. In contrast, the S23 Ultra only manages around 13 hours, which is still okay.
The S23 does have the edge when it comes to charging, with 45W wired charging and 15W wireless charging (just like the S22 Ultra) Apple’s phone comes with 27W wired charging and the same 15W wireless charging feature.
Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra price vs iPhone 14 Pro Max price
Apple has kept the price of the iPhone the same as last year’s. So, the iPhone 14 Pro Max starts at $1,099 (128GB).
The Galaxy S23 Ultra starts at $1,199.99 for the 256GB base model, so $100 more expensive, but for better storage.
