The first step is to check your Wi-Fi or network connection. See if another device, like your phone or laptop, can connect to the network. Try a website, or any app that uses the internet. If they can access the web, we know the problem is the Android TV device. If you’re offline, try restarting your router. Every TV maker has a different set of troubleshooting guides worth checking out. Popular Android TV brands include Sony, TCL (Android TV and Google TV), and HiSense.
Android TV is the operating system for Google-powered smart TVs. It is based on the mobile Android OS, but modified to work better on a larger screen for media consumption. In turn, Google TV is a skin made to improve the experienced, and it is based on Android TV. Essentially, Google TV lives on top of Android TV. Think of it as an Android TV launcher of sorts.

Android TVs have access to the Google Play Store, but not to the whole portfolio of apps. Apps need to be optimized for Android TV first. Most of the important ones are available, though.
These days, having access to wireless broadband is an absolute necessity for home offices and small businesses. And after more than a decade of innovations, you would think that the standard wireless gateway/router would be a picture-perfect product by now. Alas, no.
While many routers offer good features, most still come with flaws that can make life a lot harder, such as confounding setups or limited security.
What follows are six router problems that, quite frankly, I find the most annoying. I looked for possible solutions, and while I didn’t find one router that addressed all my concerns, I did discover features — and routers — that could make things a lot easier.
1. Difficult configuration
The problem: How long does it usually take you to set up your router? When was the last time you were able to get it right on the first try? What about when you wanted to add a new PC to your wireless network? And how about getting your wireless printer to connect to your network?
Let’s face it: Each network is different, and getting the right combination of settings can be confounding. For example, even some reasonably experienced PC hands may not understand the differences between security settings or know that WPA-2 offers better protection than WEP and ordinary WPA.
These and other hitches are why setting up any router can still be vexing, even to an experienced computer user. Some, such as the Buffalo AirStation Wireless-N 300Mbps Cable Router WHR-HP-G300N ($53), have crowded menus with multiple layers that make navigation painful. Others, such as the Netgear RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Gigabit Router WNDR3700 ($170), rely on a protected setup that has a long series of instructions that have to be followed to get a new PC on your network.
Almost all routers have Web-based configuration screens, and as long as you remember the device’s IP address, default username and password (which you should have changed when you set it up), you should be able to get into the setup screens and make any adjustments you need. It’s just a matter of figuring out which adjustments are necessary.
Cisco has also made it a lot easier to set up other devices, such as wireless printers, by providing a summary screen with all the relevant information about your wireless network that you can print out for easy reference when you run the setup program on the USB key.
Buffalo has a nice diagnostic routine that checks to see if you have Internet connectivity and that your router is configured properly. You run it from the Web configuration console.
Apple’s AirPort Express ($99) is simple to set up and has some neat features, including the ability to share USB printers and to share audio across the network to a connected stereo receiver. You can also extend the range of your existing AirPort base station, which is something that most Wi-Fi routers can’t easily do. But if you’ve got a Windows PC, you’ve got to install Bonjour, and adding a new PC to an existing network isn’t as easy as it could be.
2. Enabling file sharing from your router
The problem: Why spend money on a separate network-attached storage (NAS) unit when you can use your router for sharing files? Many routers come with USB ports to which you can connect an external USB drive for simple backup or file sharing.
Sadly, although plugging in an external drive should be as easy as — well, as just plugging in the drive — getting that drive set up isn’t always simple. The Linksys WRT610N Wireless-N Router ($200), for example, has a complex setup screen that you need to fill out when you attach a USB drive to it.
It would be nice to have software that enables the sharing without a lot of setup hassles. It should be easy to connect the computers across your network to this shared storage, by using either the router’s SSID name or IP address. You also need to be able to password-protect your shared drive so that it isn’t open for anyone who’s connected to the network.
It’s all a matter of what software is used to configure the USB drive and whether you need anything else on the Windows or Mac client end to connect to the shared drive.
Best available routers: The Belkin N+ Wireless Router ($120) has a separate software configuration utility that works for both Windows and Mac systems and needs to be run only once to set up the external shared drive. After that, you can connect to the shared drive by entering its IP address, such as 192.168.1.1sharename. The product isn’t perfect, though: There is no way to password-protect the files on the shared drive.
The Netgear RangeMax doesn’t require any additional software and can password-protect the files. It also offers a wide variety of access methods, including FTP and Web sharing, from its setup screen.

However, as in the case with any current smartphone or tablet, the latest LG flagship is not without its issues. Which is why, we’ve rounded up some of the common problems that have plagued LG V20 owners, and offer potential solutions on how to fix them!
Disclaimer: Not every LG V20 will face these problems, and in fact, it is more than likely that you won’t come across any of these issues at all.
This may be an issue with the battery calibration. For some users, a simple re-calibration trick seems to have worked. First, discharge your phone until it turns off. Then with the device off, charge it until the LED indicator shows that is charged fully. Unplug the charger and restart the device. The battery indicator may still not say 100%, so plug it in until it goes to 100%, or as close as possible. Repeat this process until it says 100% when you restart the device for the first time after discharging. Keep in mind however that this is process that shouldn’t be repeated often, so if the battery issue returns after the first calibration is done, waiting for another fix may be the best option.
There are a few apps that you can try as well to help calibrate the battery. Advanced Battery Calibrator is available on the Google Play Store, but keep in mind that the app has a better chance of success if you have root access on the device.
Download the Greenify app from the Google Play Store. Here, you can see a list of applications that are active on waking the phone, and you can then change the settings for these apps, which should help with reduce any slowdowns.
A rogue app could be the cause for any stutter or lag. Boot the device into Safe Mode (you can find the instructions on how to do so below) and see if the problem persists. If not, an application is the issue. You can then either delete the last few apps you have may have installed before the problem started, or perform a factory reset and start over, even though that is recommended only as a worst-case scenario, since you will lose all your data.
LG packs a lot of features into the software experience. Disabling these, only if you don’t use them often of course, could provide a boost in performance.
If you have bought the LG V20 from a US network carrier, your device may also come with a lot of pre-installed bloatware. While you won’t be able to delete these apps, you can disable them. Go to the Apps section in the Settings menu, find the relevant application, and disable it there.
Problem #3 – Problems where picking up a replacement is the only option
There are some problems with the LG V20, particularly related to hardware, that can’t be fixed easily. The only option here is to get the device repaired, or pick up a replacement. Below is a list of such problems –
“Shattergate” – Quite a few users have noticed that the protective camera glass on the LG V20 tends to scratch easily, and sometimes completely cracks or shatters, even after just a minor bump or drop, and is something that is definitely not expected from a device that boasts a MIL STD-810G rating for shock and impact protection. Until then, a protective case might be a good option. Here is a list of some of our top picks for the LG V20.
Speaker issues – A few users have reported hearing crackling or hissing sounds from the speaker, especially when at the highest volumes. If the problem persists, the best option would be to get the device replaced.
Headphone jack issues – Some users have found the headphone jack of the V20 to be somewhat lose, with the cable tending to move around a bit after the headphones are plugged in.
Charging issues – This generally has to do with a faulty charger. Make sure that the wall plug is working as expected, and you can use an alternate charger to charge the V20 to make sure that the device isn’t faulty.
Turn the device and the router off for at least ten seconds, then turn them back and retry the connection.
Go to Settings – Power saving and ensure that this option is turned off.

Make sure the router firmware is up to date.

With issues when connecting to the car, check the manufacturer’s manual for the device and the car and reset your connections.
Ensure that you are not missing a vital part of the connection process.
Go to Settings – Bluetooth and ensure nothing needs changing
Go into Settings – Bluetooth delete all prior pairings and try setting them up again from scratch.
When it comes to issues with multiple device connection, only a future update will be able to address this problem.
Guides – Soft reset, hard reset, wipe cache partition, hardware control mode
When the screen is not responsive, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, until the device restarts.
Alternately, you can also pull the battery to shut down the phone.

Booting into Safe Mode
Turn off the phone and restart it. When the LG logo appears, press and hold the volume down key until you see the home screen, which should take it into Safe Mode.
When the phone is on, press and hold the power button till the shutdown options appear. Press and hold the “Power off” option till a confirmation pops up and tap OK. This will boot the device into Safe Mode.
Hardware control mode
If the display of the phone is broken or damaged, you can still perform some basic functions using the hardware buttons.
Turn off the phone.
Press and hold the power button and both volume keys together for more than 10 seconds to enable the hardware key control mode.
Press the volume keys to scroll to the option you want, and press the power button to confirm.
To answer a call, you can now press both volume keys at the same time to do so.
to end a call, press the power button during the call.
To stop the alarm, press and hold the volume keys together when the alarm rings.

You can also go through standard bug fixing procedures. Clear app data and cache, uninstall and reinstall the Google app, and delete and redo Voice Match. If all else fails, a factory reset (you can find out how to do so below) may be an option.
While the steps above have worked for some users, quite a few have reported that the issue still persists. Google is aware of this bug and a software update will hopefully address it.
2. Wired headphones not working with the phone
Some users are having trouble using wired headphones with the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL. The phone doesn’t recognize the connected device and continues to play music through its speakers.
This issue is most likely caused because of compatibility issues with third-party USB-C to 3.5mm adapters. You will need an adapter that is a DAC (digital to analog converter). While the Pixel 4 doesn’t come with an adapter in the box, the official Google adapter is still the best way to go if you’re looking for one.
Of course, make sure that there aren’t any problems with the headphones first. Use it with other phones and laptops to ensure that it’s working as expected.
You could also try cleaning the USB-C port. Turn the phone off and use a soft toothbrush or a wooden toothpick to clean out any lint or other build-up. You can also use compressed air as long as the intensity isn’t too high.
A soft reboot has also worked for some users. However, the problem goes away only temporarily in most cases.
The best solution to this problem isn’t ideal but has worked for most. Simply factory resetting the phone seems to do the trick. Make sure that you back up all important data and media before doing so because the phone will be erased completely.
4. Problems where the only option is to wait for a software update
There are some issues that don’t have a workaround just yet. However, a lot of them are software problems that will likely be fixed with an upcoming update.
Sensors not working: Many users find that the sensors of the Pixel 4 and 4 XL randomly stop working. This directly affects features like auto-rotate, active edge, tap to wake, and more. This is a well-documented problem that Google is aware of. The March software update has fixed it for some users but many are still facing the issue.
Visual Voicemail not working: Some users are not able to use Visual Voicemail as expected. It’s still not clear if this is an issue with the phone or with the network carrier. Either way, an update is the only thing that will address it.
Issues with WPA3: Many Wi-Fi routers and access points now support WPA3. Unfortunately, Pixel 4 and 4 XL owners are facing frequent disconnections when connecting to the network. More often than not, users also have to enter credentials again when attempting to reconnect.
5. Problems where the only option is to get a replacement
If you run into any hardware issues, the only option available is to pick up a replacement.
Display issues: Pixel smartphones haven’t had the best track record and some of the most common Pixel 4 and 4 XL problems have to do with the screen. Some users are seeing grey and pink splotches on dark and black backgrounds. However, this shouldn’t be mistaken with the grey glow seen at the top of the screen when the Soli system is activated to sense gestures.
Mic issues: A few users are facing an issue where the mic stops working completely. For most, the problem seems to be because of a case. If so, simply removing the case does the trick. However, if the problem persists, or you don’t use a case, the only option is to get it replaced.
Battery stuck at 50%: A lot of people have run into an issue where the phone doesn’t charge beyond 50%. Some users have found that the phone randomly powers off as well. Unfortunately, this seems to be a hardware problem, and the only option is to get your phone replaced.
Wireless charging not working: Some users are reporting problems with wireless charging on their Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL. This is a hardware issue and it seems like a connector is breaking. In more extreme cases, users are reporting swollen batteries. You can check if it’s the latter by seeing if there is a gap between the sides and the rear glass panel. In either case, your only option is to pick up a replacement.
7. Guide — How to factory reset the Pixel 4 and 4 XL
Resetting the phone to factory settings is often a last-ditch solution to fix some problems that users come across on their phones. However, don’t forget to back up important data, files, and media because this process will erase everything.
Reset with the phone on
Go to “Settings.”
Tap “Erase all data (factory reset)” and then “Reset phone.”
You may have to enter your PIN, pattern, or password.
Tap on “Erase everything.”
Reset with the phone off or if it’s unresponsive
Press and hold the power and volume down buttons simultaneously until Fastboot mode (image of a triangle with an exclamation point) appears.
If you see “No command” on the screen, press and hold the power button. While holding the power button, press the volume up button and release both.
Select “Recovery mode” by navigating the list with the volume up and down keys. Use the power button to select the option.
In the Recovery menu, use the volume keys to go down to “Wipe data/factory reset.”
