Build Quality, Design and Form Factor

Lumia 830 totally stand out in terms of design and form factor as it looks different from other smartphones which we have seen recently. It has a metal frame which hold the phone together and you get polycarbonate plastic back cover, it resembles the design of Lumia 925 but looks different as the edges are flat on this as compared to the rounded edges on Lumia 925. It weigh around 150 grams and has a thickness of 8.5 mm which makes it fairly thin and decent in terms of weight compared to other 5 inch phones. You can easily carry it around and put it in any pocket its not too big or too small for entertainment and for productivity.

Camera Performance

The rear 10 MP camera has carl zeiss optics and also have optical image stabilization. Rear camera can give some great photos in day light and low performance is also better than some androids with 13 MP shooters. The front camera is 0.9 megapixels which could have been slightly higher but still it can take decent selfie and can also record at 720p, however the rear camera can shoot HD video at 720p and 1080p at 30 fps.

Display, Memory and Battery Backup

Lumia 830 features an IPS 5 Inch LCD capacitive touchscreen which has good pixel density which does not make things go pixelated and it has corning gorilla glass 3 protection. Display Sunlight visibility good as well but viewing angles are best on this device with curved display glass on the edges which does help at times to view the screen easily from different wide viewing angles. In built memory of the device is 16 GB out of which around 13 GB approx is available to the user and you have an SD card slot where you can insert a memory card upto 128 Gb max. You can also install apps on SD card on this phone. Battery backup is of the best thing as it can easily give you around 1 day of battery backup with basic to moderate usage. On continuous use if you are playing heavy graphic game or watching a  movie or video it will give you around 5-6 hours of backup with full charge.

Software and Gaming

The software is the latest version of windows phone i.e windows phone 8.1 update which is also called Denim Update which comes with new features like Live Folders, Apps Corner etc. Gaming performance of the Lumia 830 is pretty good as it can play casual games like subway surfer and Temple Run 2. We also played heavy games like Asphalt 8 and it played fine on the device without any graphic or audio lag. It supports around 10 point multi touch.

Lumia 830 Gaming Review [Video]

Sound, Video and Navigation

In terms of sound it’s a great device as the loudspeaker is fairly loud and works even when device is lying flat on its back as loudspeaker does not get blocked when you place it on a table while watching a video or movie. You can play HD video both at 720p and 1080p without any audio or video sync issues. You can use Here maps and Here drive+ for navigation and both of these apps are pretty accurate and works even indoors to lock GPS coordinates.

What We Did Not Liked

Front Camera Could Have Been Higher in Megapixels (But it takes decent if not great selfie)

Conclusion and Price

Lumia 830 has been launched in India for a Rs. 28,799 y. It’s a great offering considering the hardware and software combined together as the physical build quality of this phone is one of the best you can get at this price and the denim update which comes preinstalled on this phone which brings new features on windows phone user interface. In all we can say that we did not find anything bad on this phone but the front camera could have been better but still its not a deal breaker.

Inside the box you get the handset, battery, USB charger, MicroUSB to USB data cable and user manual.

Build Quality, Design and Form Factor

One thing which is really good about this phone the good build quality, however it has a plastic all around but its good quality material which not only feels good but also is strong to make this phone survive couple of drops as well. The overall design on the phone is such that you can easily say that it looks like the smaller version of some premium phones out there on android platform. Its a candybar phone with pretty light weight as well and the thickness of the device is also not much.

Camera Performance

The rear camera is just average, don’t expect fine details in the photos you capture from it. It fixed focus camera which can take decent shots in day light and for low light you can use flash. The front camera is decent what you are getting at this price point and its also fixed focus, but again you cant expect much from a phone at this price point in camera department.

Camera Samples

Display, Memory and Battery Backup Software, Benchmarks and Gaming

The software UI running on top of android is slightly customised but its fast enough but cannot be snappy with this hardware specs. Gaming is going to be limited but you can still play casual games like Temple Run, you have the option to install apps in the SD card although there is no other option but the games might show some UI lags at times when running on this device. However the device comes preloaded with some games as well.

Benchmark Scores

Antutu Benchmark: 8597

Nenamark2: 30 fps

Sound, Video and Navigation

The sound from loudspeaker is good and loud but not too loud, we did not faced any issues on sound volume or clarity on voice calls with good signal but on low signal strength it might give you some problems in audio on calls but works fine in 80% cases. It can play 720p videos but not 1080p videos and for some HD videos you need to use MXplayer. It can be used for GPS navigation as well but takes around 2-3 minutes to lock the GPS coordinates and in indoors signal becomes weak and it may take more time.

What We Did Not Liked

Conclusion and Price

Spice Smart Flo Mettle 4x is available for around Rs. 4299 which is fairly good for the hardware specs and build quality you are getting from it. The only thing which I did not liked much was internal memory which is limited and low RAM, the storage issue can be sorted with MicroSD card but RAM cannot be upgrade and it affects and make the slow over time of usage, but still the phone works but not as fast as you might expect.

Gionee P7 Max: Photo Gallery

The Gionee P7 Max looks a stunner right out of the box. The super glossy 3D mirror body sports a unique texture which definitely adds up to the handsomeness of the smartphone. Even though the phone feels somewhat slippery in the hands, the free back cover cancels it out. The 3D curved construction further contributes to a decent handling.

When phones are coming up with metal and glass built, the P7 Max has a plastic construction. But the plastic does not feel cheap, in fact it keeps the phone lightweight and sturdy.

Moving on to the bottom, there are three capacity touch buttons.

Surprisingly, the handset features a removable back cover. Sadly, the 3100mAh Lithium-polymer battery is sealed and can’t be swapped. Opening the back cover, you will see the two SIM card slots and a dedicated micro SD card slot.

The bottom features the microphone opening and the microUSB port.

Gionee P7 Max: Display

A 5.5-inch HD (1280 x 720) IPS LCD panel sits at the top of the Gionee P7 Max. The display is shielded by NEG (Nippon Electric Glass) protection. If you don’t know, the NEG is a Japanese competitor to Corning Gorilla Glass and Asahi Dragontrail Glass and offers similar kind of screen protection.

Gionee P7 Max: Camera Overview

The Gionee P7 Max is equipped with a 13 MP rear autofocus camera assisted with a LED flash. There are a lot of in-app features like Face Beauty, Night Mode, Time-Lapse, Text Recognition, GIF, Ultra Pixel, Mood Photo, HDR, Panorama, Smart Scene, Professional, Macro, etc. The primary camera can shoot up to Full HD 1080p videos at 30 fps.

The selfie snapper is a 5 MP unit. Although there is no dedicated front LED flash, you can use the screen flash feature to brighten up your selfies.

Gionee P7 Max: Camera Samples

The MediaTek MT6595 SoC present inside the Gionee P7 Max be an older generation 32-bit chip, but it is quite an amazing performer. The octa-core processor features two CPU clusters, one with four high-performance ARM Cortex A17 cores running at up to 2.2 GHz each and another with a quad core Cortex A7 setup clocked at 1.7 GHz each. The former cluster is aimed at high performance, while the latter specializes in power saving.

Coming to gaming performance, the PowerVR G6200 GPU running at 600 MHz offers above average graphics. The lower display resolution further adds up to it.

My gaming experience with the phone was just decent. It was able to pull off Modern Combat 5 but was stuttering when I ran Asphalt 8 on it.

The 3100mAh Lithium-Polymer battery provides adequate power backup.

Gionee P7 Max: Benchmark Scores

[table id=730 /]

Conclusion

The Gionee P7 Max is a decent performer considering its price point. We can’t disagree that other manufacturers like Xiaomi and LeEco have much better offerings which cost even lesser. However, those are available only in online marketplaces. Whereas, you can purchase the P7 Max through the vast network of offline channels. This is the main USP of Gionee, and in a country, like India, it is indeed a crucial aspect.

Best 65% Mechanical Gaming Keyboards (2023 Review)

Before buying a keyboard, most gamers think about how easy it is to carry and how comfortable it is to use. With that said, one of the most sought-after keyboards has to be 65% mechanical. This is because it offers the compactness of a 60% keyboard and the functionality of a tenkeyless.

Considering there are a variety of keyboard options, it might be hard to know which products deliver the performance you want. Therefore, this article contains a comprehensive buying guide and other important information.

To come up with the list below, we have considered several features such as pricing, functionality, customization options, quality of the build, and so forth.

Note: This list below is in no particular order.

Ducky 1 2SF

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

See Price

Pros

Cons

If you are in the market for a budget gaming keyboard that doesn’t compromise quality, then the Ducky 1 2SF is a good option. To save costs, it comes with a plastic casing. However, the build is still sturdy, and you won’t see any signs of chipping for a few years.

The package comes with a keycap remover, meaning you can easily remove the keyboard RBT keycaps and replace them with the extra WASD keycaps that are included in the package. However, one major downside of this keyboard is that it isn’t backed up by any proprietary software.

For that reason, you cannot switch up the RGB light or rearrange the keyboard functions. Therefore, there are better choices than this if you want to be in professional gaming competitions.

Magicforce 68

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

See Price

Pros

Cons

The Magicforce 68 is one of the most budget-friendly yet functional keyboards. The only features that aren’t top-notch about this product are that the key switches don’t offer the best tactile feedback and the exterior could have been better.

On the other hand, you have the option to choose one of the following key switches; Gateron, Cherry, and Outuemu, which also comes with the option of any of these three colors; blue, brown, or red.

Though the exterior doesn’t come with the typical metal plate on top of it, it still appears well put together. Thankfully, the keycaps are easy to replace, and you even get a few extra keycaps for free in the packaging.

Although the key layout is pretty impressive, this keyboard is extremely loud and wobbles if pressed too roughly. Therefore, only purchase if you are ok with the aforementioned.

Drop ALT

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

See Price

Pros

Cons

The manufacturers of Drop keyboards have recently released a 65% mechanical graming keyboard packed with impressive features. Right from the box, you will notice how each key is designed compactly to utilize the small keyboard surface. Thanks to the design, you can press each key comfortably without overlapping each other.

Depending on your actuation preferences, you can choose one of three available key switch options. It is imperative to note that most gamers prefer the Cherry MX as they are quick to give tactile feedback.

Also, you can easily change the key switches and keycaps, depending on the game you are playing. On that note, the key caps are dust and waterproof to some level. Therefore, you won’t have to worry about spills.

Thanks to its magnetic metal legs, this keyboard is not wobbly, so it’s as comfortable as possible. Ultimately, if you are big on aesthetics, you will appreciate the fact that you get to choose the backlight and RGB light options from the hundreds of options.

Aside from all the above, this keyboard is supported by QMK firmware. Therefore, you can set up macro keys and change the key mapping to suit your playing style.

Keychron K6

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

See Price

Pros

Cons

The keychron k6 is among the best sellers because it comes with almost all the features an avid gamer would appreciate from his keyboard.

First off, it’s wireless and compact, meaning it’s a good choice if you have a small desk space or don’t like worrying about cable clutter. Also, it’s one of the few keyboards that work well with both Windows and Mac displays.

The best feature of this keyboard is that the switches are hot-swappable. Typically, you can only find the aforementioned feature on expensive keyboards. Also, you get to choose one of the following case options; an Aluminum case with RGB lights, a Plastic case with RGB lights, or Plastic with backlights. Naturally, the option you choose will alter the price, so choose accordingly.

A notable downside of this keyboard is that it is expensive yet fitted with cheap ABS keycaps. First off, the keycaps are slippery, and they look cheap. Also, the keyboard is thick and doesn’t have a place to rest your wrist. Therefore, you will become uncomfortable after just a short period of gaming.

Ducky Mia Pro

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

See Price

Pros

Cons

Two renowned gaming paraphernalia manufacturers recently collaborated on a 65% mechanical keyboard, and it’s nothing less than what you would expect. The two companies in question are Varmilo and Ducky, and the keyboard they released is called Ducky Mia pro.

It has a sturdy plastic case that is not prone to wear and tear. The best part is you can choose one design from various options. Some of the pieces you are allowed to customize during purchase include Keycaps, key switches, and the color of the plastic exterior.

Although you get a few programming options thanks to its inbuilt firmware, you will not have access to the customization features that are possible when a software program supports your keyboard. For example, one of the aforementioned features includes RGB lighting, changing the key mapping, etc.

Compared to some of the other keyboards in this list, the Ducky Mia Pro is one of the best and cheapest options, but it doesn’t offer some of the needed features, which makes it inconvenient.

Hyperx Alloy Origins

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

See Price

Pros

Cons

HyperX has continually released several gaming equipment, each better than the last. Their latest release, the mechanical keyboard, is one of the best in the market. Though pricey, it is packed with several features a gamer would appreciate.

It comes with PBT keycaps with a subtle grainy texture, enhancing the tactile feedback. Also, you can easily swap out the keycaps or even the key switches if you need different actuation.

The exterior was designed with portability in mind hence why it is pretty slim and compact without infringing on the number of features. Thanks to how great the keys are arranged and spaced, you can easily reach every key while gaming.

Womier 65

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

See Price

Pros

Cons

The main marketing point of this keyboard is that it offers several features that aren’t available in other mainstream 65% keyboards. First off, it’s perfect for people who care about aesthetics, as you can customize almost every part of the keyboard, from the switches to the Keycaps and even the casing colors.

Its PBT keycaps are smudge-proof, meaning they won’t start having fingerprint stains after a few months. Also, you can easily use the keyboard for typing and gaming, making it a great purchase if your set-up doubles as a study area.

Other notable features include the fact that it has a relatively quick polling rate. Therefore, you can use it for professional gaming tournaments without fear of your performance being compromised.

Leopold FC660M

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

See Price

Pros

Cons

Just like all Leopold gaming keyboards, this one feels expensive, looks sturdy, and has quality features to match. Considering its low price, it’s not a shock that this keyboard doesn’t offer customization options. For that reason, it locks every professional gamer who likes to program their keys and people who prefer a certain aesthetic out of their target demographic.

When making a purchase, you can choose one Cherry option: Black, Brown, Red, and silent reds. So, if you are on a budget, you don’t mind the absence of RGB lighting and no remapping.

Durgod Hades 68

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

See Price

Pros

Cons

Unlike most keyboards on this list, the Durgod Hades 68 hardly has a flaw, its features, build, and customization options offer everything a gamer would want. First off, you can choose one of the following switches when making the purchase, Cherry, Gateron, or Kailh. Please note that once you choose one type of switch, you won’t be able to change it in the future.

Arguably, this keyboard’s best feature has to be that it’s supported with software that allows you to switch up the key arrangements and create macros for up to 4 layers. Also, you can choose any light color from the 68 different light modes available.

The exterior is quite catchy, and since it is highly customizable, you can easily tweak it to fit your preferred aesthetic. Lastly, it comes with PBT keys which are well-sculpted to improve tactile feedback.

RK Royal Kludge

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

See Price

Pros

Cons

The Royal Kludge is a compact keyboard that comes with a well-thought-out key layout. The problem is, you won’t be able to remap the keys as per your gaming style. At first glance, you will notice that the case is quite sturdy, considering it’s made of aluminum which has a reputation for lasting for prolonged periods.

This keyboard has a backlight RGB light that offers you a few lighting options. However, be careful with the amping up the RGB brightness as it drains the keyboard battery quickly.

The keycaps are PBT and therefore last a relatively long time without becoming shiny at the top. One outstanding feature of this keyboard is that you can use it regardless of whether it’s wired or wireless. This is because it can connect to your display using Bluetooth, 2.4Ghz dongle or an USB type C cable.

Comes with high quality and sturdy aluminum case

Its keycaps are easy to replace

Stabilizers are lubed during manufacturing to save you the trouble

It is expensive, yet it’s missing a fundamental feature

Doesn’t allow you to remap the keys because its not supported by any software

Razer BlackWidow V3

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

See Price

Pros

Cons

This Razer mechanical keyboard is quite pricey but contains several useful features. It’s a perfect addition for anyone who games professionally because it’s equipped with features such as a high polling rate and high latency, which, if used well, will ensure you are at your best performance.

The exterior design is well thought out, so the buttons hang low. This way, your fingers won’t get tired after a long gaming session. Also, the sleek design allows you to attach a wrist rest easily. Unlike most mechanical keyboards, this one doesn’t require you to use a lot of force to press down the buttons.

Also, considering this keyboard is backed by Razer’s proprietary software, you can easily customize the RGB lighting as you have hundreds of color options. On that note, you can also remap all the keys, create macros, etc, through the software.

The best part about Razer keyboards is that they offer their consumers 24-7 customer support. You can even contact them to find out how to set up different custom features.

Considering most people prefer quieter keyboards, there are limited options for 65% of gaming keyboards. For that reason, you should know every feature to expect in a good keyboard so you can pick out the ones that suit your needs and which features you can do without.

Below are a few features you should look at:

Considering you will only have 65% of the total number of keys, it is evident that you will need to sacrifice some keys. For example, there are keyboards without the function row, which is then programmed and put on a layer under a different group of keys. Please note that if you are a beginner and your play style isn’t aligned with the key mapping, you won’t be at your peak performance.

Some mechanical keyboards are backed up with software that allows you to customize features such as key mapping, creating macros, RGB lighting, etc. Alternatively, some only have programmable firmware, allowing you to make custom changes here and there.

However, a few Keyboards don’t offer any custom features. That said, ensure that you get a keyboard that allows for the customization level you need.

The key switch determines how much you will need to press the button to get a reaction, how loud the sound of pressing the key cap will be, and finally, the tactile feedback you will receive. Therefore, figure out how loud/quiet you want your keyboard to be and the tactile feedback you would like before buying a mechanical keyboard.

Also, confirm whether the type of key switch you are looking at is long-lasting. For example, some companies use cheap springs, which stop working well after a while.
